I asked this elsewhere on the forum, and haven't gotten a response, so any of your input would be most welcome. The 350z convertible looks like it has a roll bar. However, one salesperson from Nissan told me it was a "designy thing" and not a real rollbar. My question is, is it a factory installed rollbar that can be used in a Driver Ed? Thank you in advance.

The BMW club went to VIR earlier this year I was told - and they used lights to signal. One BMW purist was very much turned off - but at the end of the first day -- fell in love with it and asked us if we'd do it. We won't - it was discussed with our DE team and it was shot down.

This is great Mike. At most DEs the flags are discussed thoroughly in the classroom. Some tend to have slightly different meanings from others - and... from DE to racing as well. When we feel we have a group that has not had a refresher in a very long time, we ask our starter to go over the flags for all. At a DE we use - the checker for each session; blue with yellow strip (it feels like most sessions, but it isn't); a rolled up black flag (it comes in handy) and a waving yellow flag. We save the meatball for races, and the red flag for test & tune days....

Also of note - if you go off course - DO NOT TRY TO SAVE IT. That only gets you into more trouble. AutoX is great for learning how to control your car - but Driver Ed teaches you how to be smooth -- and the smoother you are - the faster you go. I think they wrote a song about that!
