Mike is definitely buying it, I just havent told him what shipping will be to JDM land.
-
In for one depending on price.
-
Mike, I got your email and responded

Purchased this new from http://www.vildinimotorsport.com/ I'm going a different direction with my project and no longer have a use for it (never used never mounted). IIRC I paid $275 for it, I'll take $200 shipped to the lower 48 states.

I'll comment on how long I think it'll last when I'm fully awake and can create a logical thought. As for working the track/etc I can say up in Canada that's NEVER a problem, guys will toss out a yellow flag and drive out with a few people and brooms to clean up off track excursions, people frequently help each other out with setup/mechanicals, etc. *shrug*

Couldn't you just use a single ABS ring with a sensor, feed it to the Dakota Digital encoder and then output to the speedo?
-
Yeah, hammered some cheap sockets on 3 out of 4 and went to town with my IR impact. The 4th had to be cut off.

Congrats! I can't wait for more videos.

Wow, that interior sure cleaned up nice!

'71 240z: LF: 271 RF: 271 LR: 404 RR: 392 Total: 1338 F/R: 40.5%/59.5% This is with no engine, no floors, no transmission, no driveshaft, no interior, w/fuel tank, full suspension, steering, brakes, metal rear bumper, all lights, ZG Flares, IMSA 3 Piece wing, full glass, all metal bodywork. I believe my shell is extremely clean and contains no bondo except for on the hatch (if you care about how much bondo weighs). However, I thought it would be good reference material.

Spent most of the day in the garage, lots of progress however it doesn't look like it, heh. Most of the firewall and trans tunnel have been taken down to bare metal (or close to it) with sand paper or a wire wheel. All of the insulation is gone. Most of the areas that will need to be clean for welding the floors in have been prepped as well. I've got a few more hours to spend on it, especially behind the pedals but it's coming along nicely. Worked on the spare tire area and hatch are a bunch. Cleaned up some rust and removed a few bits of destroyed sound proofing. Primed the well and then used rubberized undercoating on it. It had a bit of rot just in the 1/4" or so around the drain grommet. Sorry I forgot to take in progress pics, it's still drying in the last photo. Also rolled the car up onto my scales, weights as follows: LF: 271 RF: 271 LR: 404 RR: 392 Total: 1338 F/R: 40.5%/59.5% This is with no engine, no floors, no transmission, no driveshaft, no interior, w/fuel tank, full suspension, steering, brakes, metal rear bumper, all lights, ZG Flares, IMSA 3 Piece wing, full glass, all metal bodywork. Trimming away more of that fat.... err rust and sound deadening. That's about 2/3's of what I removed today. Weighs somewhere around 25lbs. Where I left it tonight, back was killing me from being hunched inside the car for a few hours. Trimmed the passenger's side all the way down, no more rust over there. The driver's side under floorboard support was in great shape, so it stayed (though slightly cut off at the rearward section. I also left the seat support in, although it wont be there I needed a bit of structure left in the car for moving it. I have a bit more to do on the driver's side and the entire firewall and inner rockers needs to be stripped still. I have the trans tunnel mostly done though it still needs a chemical bath.
-
Muffler... hah! Looks good, any sound clips?

Knocked out a few hours on the car tonight, there is about 25 pounds of metal/rust and sound deadening under the car. Spent a ton of time with a mask, gloves, scraper and propane torch working on removing the interior tar, but I had to use a heat gun in some slightly tighter/more sensitive areas for safety's sake. (I know, me using caution, hard to believe.) Working around the pedal set on the trans tunnel. Some floor rust on the driver's side which has separated the floor from the rear frame rail extension. I've gone under and looked above and the frame rail extension under the floor board is in mint shape despite the passenger's side one being all banged up (not that it matters as I'm putting bad dog replacement/subframe connectors in). Progress. If all goes well I'll be at PT (turbojettaMKIV)'s house first weekend in december so he can weld in the floors, subframe connectors and the small flush bits on the firewall and the rear 1/4 panel/liners. Then some POR15 work and the interior goes back together while I start on wiring

Austin, fantastic to hear it running. I'm really quite jealous!

I've seen one in person, in the first 1000 miles of ownership. On the highway.

They are pretty small, I used to keep mine behind the desk at work and we still had room to operate in the office area.

Actually I am, I'm selling my M5, and one of my 951's, and trading in my Jeep on a newer diesel truck. But half the fun is the rotating collection I've gotten rid of 3 other BMW's and a ton of parts recently. Liquidating a lot of stuff.
-
Am I selling it? Am I not? i AM.... I'm NOT. ♥♥♥♥, maybe I should sell it, nahhhh I'll keep it... oops it's up for sale, wow got lowballed worse that I would accept. So in the end, I decided to keep it. Plus with the Porsche gone off to get paint done, and then headed for new cage work I dont expect to have it around for awhile. So I need something to tinker with. So to my delight I decided to keep it. In the garage tonight, spent another hour stripping interior stuff. I had removed the rear flares while I transported it home as they were not 100% secured yet. I'll be working on it tomorrow and most of the weekend so expect new updates soon.
-
The flares are definitely on correctly, I checked with several people including Austin before mounting them. I just dont have particularly good photos online. I listed my KA motorset for sale, I just dont feel like dealing with it, probably going to put drop an RB25DET instead. Not much extra work for a far superior power plant... and I'm finicky. I brought the car home tonight and as soon as my Porsche goes out for paint and new cage work the Datsun goes into the garage and I'll get cranking on it again. So more updates soon!

He used to be my roommate, so yes. Neither of us could stand living there though, so we both moved out.
-
Wow, they sure missed the boat on that one. I hate it.
-
Sadly, no. I got busy with work and going back to school and I dont tend to work on projects during the summer (to busy driving). I'm bringing it back to my house and I'm gonna start back in on it soon. I actually had it up for sale for awhile and didnt get any serious bites (just ridiculous low balls) which made me decide to keep it.

Fmic, Piping, And Radiator On Custom Core Supports
MPD47 replied to nope's topic in Nissan 4 Cyl Forum
Looks nice, but I'm on the same page, why the tilt? I hope you're going to duct the air flow to the radiator and keep it sealed in there. -
not much in terms of visual progress. Spent a ton of time drilling out every bracket on the firewall, frame rails, and remaining bits of the engine bay. Ground most of them down flat, removed the battery tray, finish chemically stripping the engine bay, etc. I now need to go back over the engine bay with a wire wheel to get the remaining crap. The rubber steering bushing is being sent out to have an aluminum version made, the old one was quite hard and brittle. Basically need to go back and weld up all the holes and divots from drilling the brackets off, and tack in the crossmember with the engine test fit. That's my scatterbrained order of things right now. Hopefully I'll have everything collected to be welded this week and I can get that tacked in with Christian's help and it can go over to PMP to have the finish work on the welds done. One photo for today with the engine bay mostly torn down.
