Yes, but the hazard switch could have corrosion on the turn signal side Check the fuse and then if fuse is alright, take your hazard switch off and clean the contact points in it with some baking soda mixed with warm water. Let it dry before reassembling and try it out.

Welp, I've made some progress, I got my hands on a better Hazard switch. I opened it up and removed all the corrosion with baking soda + warm water, scrubbed it with an old toothbrush. Hazards work and no more relays turning on and off! Woo! yeah, you guys were right, I goofed and wired up the new switch wrong. Guess my electrical theory needs some work. But now, it immediately blows the turn signal fuse the moment ignition is turned to ON position. Seemed like a short so I went around and cleaned up whatever I could with the grounds. I took out the bulbs just to create an open to see if it would still blow the fuse. Still blew the fuse, I went back and disconnected the hazard switch and it STILL blows the fuse with ignition at ON position.

I honestly have no idea what to call these, been searching around but nobody really has a name or a possible vendor for em. I think it would be a nice alternative to the 240/260 bumper, makes it nice and smooth. Anyone have any idea what to call em? Better yet how to get a hand on em? hoping it isn't custom handmade..

Whoopsy, I'm sorry about that. It's a 78 280z My fuel pump relay, both relays underneath the passenger seat, seat belt warning, ignition, and horn relay all turn on and off at the speed of the hazard flasher unit. I've removed my horns, and my wipers don't turn on and off like the rest of them do. After the turn signal switch fuse has enough and blows, only the hazard flasher unit continues to turn on and off, but no lights are activated (no dash, exterior). When the pulsing happens, no lights are activated at all, you can just hear all of those aforementioned relays click on and off. Thanks for the input!

Okay, I located the flashers from the FSM, at least the hazard flasher.. and of course when I hook up the switch it is continually pulsing, only the hazard flasher. I think I found the turn signal flasher, it was sitting right underneath the steering column, just hanging out there.. it seems like the wires going to the turn signal flasher is getting nothing. I first thought the turn signal flasher was dead, so I swapped places with the hazard flasher. Sure enough, it was doing the same thing. So, short to power on hazard flasher side? or short to ground from turn signal side? or both?... I really need to just take a step away from this electrical for a good 15 minutes.. EDIT: I did some electrical testing, the hazard flasher connector is getting power at all times, both positions of the switch.. I'm starting to think I wired it up wrong.. which confuses me more because when I wired it differently it would activate only 1 signal when using the switch.. each position would activate a signal.

Alright.. my problem first started off with my turn signal switch fuse continually blowing itself up I took out the Hazard signals switch and cleaned up the contacts on both sides of the teeter totter... thingy It helped out for a little bit, each fuse would last about 15 minutes longer, and then continue to burst. I'm figuring that there's a short to power somewhere, and wanted a new type of switch that I can disconnect easily. (no more of that 'yes your wires are soldered into the back of this thing' crap) The new switch has 2 male terminals for power, so I used a butte connector and put in two wires to either side. But now, if my Hazard switch is turned to Turn signal switch ON position, all of the relays in my car pulse IF my ignition is set to the LOCK position. If I turn the ignition switch to ON, everything is fine and dandy, and my turn signals work. I'm trying to trace the wiring diagram to find out any possible places that the wires could be shorting together somewhere. So far this is driving me nuts, I've repaired 5 wires so far that were already burnt/corroded/exposed to air. TL;DR: Car runs and starts up fine, but when Ignition Switch is in LOCK position, ALL RELAYS PULSE ON AND OFF. Of course I'm still going to run through the wires and see if there's anymore wires I should repair, but a little insight would help me a long way.

Sure thing, I'll get it to ya tomorrow, I gotta rewire the big red button that releases the hatch... I was digging through the old speaker setup they put in the car... (which good god i dont even know how they got it to work) and apparently the power switch for the hatch release was soldered into the speaker power line.
-
Nah man, I mean the one that's for the pantera hatch window. Sorry I wasn't more specific.

Well I have a pantera hatch on my 280z and the weatherstrip is old, and so is the plexiglass. The weatherstrip is also cut down in the center, makes washing the car cringeworthy, gotta put down towels on the inside so it doesn't get water absolutely everywhere. Plexiglass is completely fogged over and yellowed out, makes it hard to see through. I was wondering if anybody here knew where I could find a replacement weatherstrip? I contacted Z Force Productions, and he said there is an OEM weatherstrip that would work for it... but when I asked which one he didn't respond. Not angry at him at all, he's dealing with a newborn baby.. so I figured I'd ask if anybody here knew about em. Any help is highly appreciated!

I think I may know what your Z recordings where used for! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcenKOAtdRc

Thanks guys! ehren, I used a hammer and chisel to get those out, after I got the majority of it off, I just wiggled it up and down and it popped off. There were a couple of spots that were weak and came off with them, but it's fixable

So, I guess it's about time to post my own project.. at 4 AM I posted a while ago about my California Z Hawk Edition 280z, and got some answers (gotta get that poster!) I've been meaning to post it on here, but quite frankly I have been lazy. When I first saw her on craigslist, she had been sitting for 22 years. The last time she had been registered was the year I was born. 1990. I went by the place she was being held at and immediately fell in love. I HAD to have her, so I scrounged up as much money as I could and borrowed some money from some very helpful family members and picked her up for 1800. The scary thing is, when I went to the DMV, the lady behind the counter looked at me and said "You know the car hasn't been registered since 1990." I nodded and didn't realize what she meant. A car disappears for 22 years and then magically comes back on the system? Oh no, DMV ain't happy about that. $700+ in fees. Good god it broke my heart. I was extremely lucky though, I'm not entirely sure if I should be saying what happened in between, I don't want to get anybody in trouble... so I still ended up paying for em and got her towed home for free! After rummaging around the paperwork still in the car, I found out that since it was last registered, she had only moved 7 miles, my lucky number! Figures! If there's any reason to say this was meant to be.. well, you know. Probably 2 weeks after I got her, there was 1 missing spoke cylinder thingy missing so I took off the spokes (still have them) and just polished up the wheels. Still wasn't running properly yet (not good enough for smog at least) her backside and pantera hatch, after I got she barely passed smog and started running! Didn't take much at all, a tune-up and new injector connectors, and a cleaned out gas tank was pretty much all she needed. My girlfriend giving her a wash after her fuel pump gave out and sat for a few more weeks, and was replaced with a MSD2225 pump from SummitRacing after a while I got her some new wheels and tires, took off the bumpers (I hate them!) and started toying around with the idea of different color trim a friend of mine slipped a Decepticon emblem into my pocket and my girlfriend decided to throw it on, it's not too bad! (it's not staying though..) after a while I saved up some money for the fender flares and a little bit more waiting I got to put them on thanks to my girlfriend and her boss at the shop. She surprised me with some fender mirrors that I had been pining for, as a birthday present! Yay girlfriends Yes, the left headlight is being held in with tape.. While I was working I drove through some construction zones and the sudden jerks from un-level pavements made the headlight ring fall out (couldn't find it anywhere) Here she is as of right now as I switch focus from trying to make the car look better to fixing some of the bigger issues: Bad compression on cyl 4, bent struts, etc etc The white one is my girlfriend's.. she picked one up and sold her Scion so she could use the money left over to fund her '66 Karmann Ghia restoration. Not a bad choice imho We both DD our Zs and I deliver pizzas in mine, since it's my only properly running car that doesn't eat through all of my gas money.. until I get a better gas friendly Datsun ;o I've gotten quite a bit of flak for delivering pizzas in the Z, mostly "What are you doing to that car! You'll ruin it!" kind of deal. I've also gotten a lot of compliments, and some people who have pretended that the Z was theirs. Cue phone picture! Honestly, I don't really know 100% sure what I will end up doing with my lovely 280z, it's up in the air.. but right now I definitely want to rebuild her engine, possibly put in an F54 block, with some triple webers, forged internals.... maybe a 2jz swap in the future. I don't know. All I know is I love my 280z and for a name for the car? A friend of mine came up to me and said that he and his buddies named my car "Raven" and my girlfriend's "Dove" I think it's quite fitting

Well crap, if only I realized this half a year ago. I've done multiple things to the car already, fender mirrors, fender flares... extended studs. Even then, I still have most of the parts that I took off of it, some have died to the test of time and others are sitting behind me in the garage. It's not like it's not reversible, but here I go, gonna start restoring it to stock. I gotta locate that mahogany steering wheel.
-
So I have had this 78 280z for almost a year now, and while searching through the glove box, to show my girlfriend that the dealership sales paper sold the car at $15k instead of the usual $8.8 that most Z's went for back in the day... I found a slip that said the car was sold with the "Z Hawk" package, and sure enough, with a slight amount of reading on the sales slip, I found that it certainly was why the car was brought up to $15,500. After doing some research and calling a few people, not very many people know about the Z Hawk Package, all I have found is a poster that I can buy that calls it the "California Z Hawk" The dealer package includes: T-tops, Datsun Competition Hood, Pantera hatch, custom front bumper, rocker panel and welting, a mahogany steering wheel, custom rocket racing spoke wheels, undercoating Most of the package is still there, I was just wondering if anybody else here has heard of it or know if it's something I should be happy about. I still love the car regardless, just wondering if this is of any significance this is the website I found the info off of http://www.mclellansautomotive.com/lit/bymake/datsun/index-6.shtml
