Yes i already planned on my brother in law looking everything over ....i just wanted to get my hands dirty too you know what i mean
As for the different spacers first i will figure out my ride height then i will deal with the proper spacing .......i dont want to use wheel spacers unfortunately.....and worse comes to worse i will just put the old tie rods back on which is last resort.
So I decided to consult with my brother in law who is a full time mechanic ....he was telling me that these tie rods should be able to be used with all types of different spacers as ride height is adjusted you must adjust the spacing inbetween the tie rod and steering knuckle to keep the rods parallel to alleviate the bump steer .....whats every bodies thoughts on using different spacing ...which in turn might clear my rim as well .
Haha that's funny after I posted I checked my emails and Brian was lol no I looked at the photo wrong just flip the spacer and you will be fine ...so that's most likely the problem ....thanks .
No that's why I posted the pic I want to make sure I installed it properly ...I'm mocking stuff up and put the rim on the hub and spun and it hits the inside if the rim .....your telling me I installed it wrong but the guy who makes the part says it's installed correctly ? ....I will flip the spacer and see if I still have the issue .
I might just do away with them and go back to stock
My offset is -10 doesn't seem too crazy .
I don't think it's my rim size ...I'm using 16 inch rims and I've heard of guys using these with 14inch ...but you never know lol
Mine looks exactly like that pictured one but has a spacer over those expose threads ...everytime I turn it to bring it back in it just gives more toe in....I guess I gotta disconnect it and thread it on the rack side first all the way in then hook it up to the steering
Knuckle .....gonna try that tommorow night when I'm free.
I wish I could post pics with my phone but I can't ....I send the photos of the install to Brian who makes these parts and he said the install looks fine I'm still waiting on an answer back as to why it's hitting the rim if the install is ok ?....and to answer your question John yes it appears that the taper is fully seated .
So i have install these heavy duty outer tie rods .....anybody else have them installed?....im having a slight issue with them rubbing the inside of the rim .....mind you i still have it up on jacks .....but from looking at it even when it will be on the ground it looks as if it wil still rub ......did i do something stupid or has anybody else run into this issue?....thanks in advance .
Yes I agree this site is outstanding for resource.....plus the guys on here are great....and always quick to respond .
Noticing the same thing as you I will button something up and realize oh shoot I had to connect that first and vice versus ...all part of working on cars ...but if I can stop from making too many of those mistakes that would be great too ....the next thing I do maybe I will hit you up with a pm and you can tell which way not too do it lol.
^^^^ thanks for that excellent piece of advice ....I haven't tightened mine yet .... I take it everybody just torques it too inbetween 180-200 and doesn't bother with the hub preload ?
Thought of that ..,.just unsure if it's a wise way of doing it...it seems strange a bit that they would design brakes and want you to space it out like that ...just want to confirm that ...that is the proper way to do it .
Ok guys it's been a long 2 days and maybe not seeing things right ....just finished tearing out all the stock suspension and Refitting it with modern stuff ...I'm now on the rear brakes and am using arizona z car rear willwood setup ...it says you might have to space out the caliper to fit and to put the spaces inbetween the caliper and the mounting bracket ......
Well I have zero spacers inbetween the caliper and the bracket but the caliper still needs to come out a few more mills to get it center ....how would I accomplish this if I can't get the caliper to come out more since it's already up against the bracket and adding spacers would move it back not forward ??
Anyways please go easy on me if I'm missing something stupid...lol
Thanks in advance
Rob
Hey guys i just installed a works bell quick release with a nardi wheel and a boss hub adapter .....before the install the horn worked ....after install i plugged the wires in properly ...triple checked them ...but the horn doesnt work now.
Anybody run into this before ...any ideas what might have caused this ?....any help would be appreciated as a functioning horn is needed.....Thanks.
Check out the suspension FAQ ....for sway bars I think the prime choice is S/T 52095 it's for 70-73 but the preferred kit for all s30s......i also have that same spring/shock setup.....what spring rates are you using?
