  1. I used "Lizard Skin" One bucket of the sound dampning and one bucket (2 gallons) of the ceramic heat/sound proofing" Came out really nice. Found out a lot of the nascar teams use it around here in NC. you can see pictures of it on my site. I would recomend it to you. Scott

smoorenc, how much of the product did you end up using? -D

  2. What do you think?

I'm in a quandary and am unsure which seats to use in my 1972 240z. I have a set of old original 240z seats and I also have a set of Honda S2000 seats in good condition. The S2000 seats cost me $500 and it may take up to $1000 to install given fabrication - they are comfortable and they look good. I can recondition the 240z seats myself using MSAs Upholstery Kit for $224 and they would keep at least that part of the car classic, no fabrication costs, no issues with seat sliding restrictions (I'm 6'4", have long legs and I fit well with the originals) - the only thing I wonder about 240s is comfort on long trips for I will be driving the car allot. Can anyone give me any advice on the matter?

Yeah I know, can't make a decision, what can I do... :) I would be interested in what people have to say though, it would help allot.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave

  3. This is good info - I'm 6'4" tall with long legs (My jeans are 36") and I fit in the car well with the original seats. I have the S2000 seats and know there will be some fabrication work on the tunnel but am concerned that it may not be worth it. If it's not then I should sell the Honda seats and then get the originals reconditioned (however much that will cost...) How much of a difference was there between the s2000 seats and the 240z originals when you adjust them back?

The one thing I'd be careful with when installing seats in a Z is if you're very tall. I'm about 2m and the bulge just behind the seats prevented me from being able to adjust the seats back as far as the stock ones could go without a looot of work being done to the seats.

Just my experience anyways, GL with the seats they look nice

  4. Jay, how did the S2000 seat install go, what did you have to do to get them in there?

    Dave

Im fitting a set of s2000 seats at the moment, nice and narrow at the top, nice and comfy and they look really well in the car.

  5. I am now a Concept Artist designing video games for Zipper Interactive Games (Sony)

I have done some other things in my life…

    Art school

    Salvage diver

    Police Academy

  6. Any one out there willing to sell a good condition set of chrome tail light trim pieces? The tail lights on my 72 240z are good but the chrome strips are in terrible shape. I just need the trim pieces not the tail light lenses or assemblies.

    Thanks

    Dave

  7. I just got my triple Mikunis reconditioned there. Todd seems like a nice guy that does a good job. He says he is always willing to talk over any issues and will walk you through things as well. I will let you know how the carbs work but so far things look very positive. Here are the carbs cleaned up, more pictures at the photo site below.

  8. Small world indeed...it's a beautiful place in the summer with the lake right at your doorstep. You should see it now with all the building and commercial plazas going in. It's crazy.

I grew up in Halliburton and went to School at Georgian College. I also spent 6 months working as a diver building docks on Lake Simcoe - very windy lake, used to smash much of our work. I know those trees and I wish we had them out here instead of cottonwoods - my family produces maple syrup near Minden.

It's good to see people with Zs out east for there aren't many that way due to the rust. That goes for anyone with a Z on the east coast - hat's off to you for keeping the cars alive, the rust is bad enough out on the west coast...

Anyway just to keep on track here's my wheels - hopefully they will be on my completed car by Christmas.

  9. Here is an air box that will work. http://www.twminduction.com/airbox.htm They use to sell SK Racing and webers

I was thinking about this air box - $375.00 is a bit expensive for what you get. I would like to retain the air horns for the ram effect and it seems, from what I have read, an air box causes a restriction at the outside edge preventing direct induction. Does the ITG style allow free and direct air flow straight into the horns?
