hey fricfrac, whats the dimensions on the rims? ie, width, offset? youre just mocking me with those pictures! haha really love the car, definately will look much better with the airdam.
-
hahaha grows on you right?
-
sooo jealous fricfrac, if only mine was as clean as yours! haha one day..

Rota "grid offroad" 16x8 +10 offset 3mm spacers in the front, really should run 5mm spacers since i rubbed the rim protectors off on the strut.

Fastest l28 in the country indeed! if i had the money to do even half of the mods he has.. droooolllll
only way i can think of of making it go as fast as he said is to run crazy boost, crazy amounts of fuel and a rear end made of supermans costume..
BTW i spy nawwzzz

Yeah, I'm a little hesitant about removing the smog equiptment that I really need, haha, not to mention the smog guys here in the bay area are really picky about what they will pass, the first time I smoged the z, the guy refused to pass it because I had the msa intake on it.. Go figure, I replaced the giant air cleaner with something lighter and nicer and now my car won't pass smog. I don't know how tight the smog laws are elsewhere but around here they'll fail you for having the wrong muffler on if they could. From what I noticed it's mostly the 70's cars in general that would run better without an egr, as they weren't designed for them and would cause more problems than they solved. The 80's shouldn't have a problem with them, when I was running mine with the egr disconnected and now that I fixed it, I diddnt notice any diffirence. In my opinion I think that removing most smog components on 80's+ cars is pretty much pointless, a buddy of mine wanted to block off his egr in his '86 corolla, I told him it would not do anything, guess what? So he just put it back.

Well the Thing is, last time I tried to smog it, the emissions rivaled that of a diesel truck, it has since gotten better but I am doubtful. Do z's really run that clean? That's a surprise.
-
Yeah, gotta love them haha. Sometime next week I shall make an attempt at passing Cali emissions after throwing a fresh cat on it, RUZN you're lucky!! I can't stand the smog laws around here.. Eehh if you can't beat them join them!! Atleast my 210 is putting up a good fight, one cold morning at a time! Anyways, hope all goes well, any tips on helping the 280 pass smog?

I don't think that the '80 Cali cars have them, my buddys 10th anniversary diddnt, that was a Cali car too.
So last night it dawned on me.. The two vacuume lines that run from the ported vacuume switch and T underneath just in front of the throttle body. I got the car with the motor allready rebuilt.. So I figured, maybe they crossed some vacuume lines.. So I switched them and voilà ! No mis at the low end, took it for a spin and it ran just like new. Kind of a stupid mistake, should have thought of that sooner, my 210 has a million of them and screw one up and it'll run like crap. So, problem seems to be solved. Thanks for the advice "eec564", I'll double check everything just to make sure.

I have a problem with my egr, I've looked through the forums but can't find anything close.. So here's the senerio, at low rpm (~800-2k) just above idle, I get a consistant mis, unplug the egr valve and it clears up. I have since replaced the egr valve, the ported vacuume switch that goes to the egr, all the vacuume lines. Now I'm stumped. The maf is new, new plugs and wires, cap rotor the O2 is new. Good compression across all cylinders (motor rebuilt). I have no clue anymore, I traced all the lines and they all go to their apropriate ports. This mis is causing me to fail smog miserably, any help or ideas would be much apreciated.

not really, it did get better tho.. it only cuts out when its cold and that is only for the first few minutes. Haven't got a clue. I've been thinking it might be a coil, I have seen some weird stuff at work happen like that. It also seems like it might be something like a crank sensor, but I dont know where the computer gets a crank signal, theres nothing that seems like a crank sensor on alldata or in the factory manual. You could check out those. Mine completely cuts out for a split second when its cold and then runs like nothing happened. What does yours do exactly? Maybe we can try some stuff.

Hi all, I picked up an '82 280ZX N/A a few weeks ago, however there seems to be a little problem, it seems to have a slight to moderate misfire. I replaced all the plugs wires cap and rotor, I have good spark on all cylinders. I replaced all of the injectors with little change. Cylinder #3 seems to be the culprit. I ran a compression check on all cylinders and they turned out to be within specs all within 5 PSI, from what I can remember 130-170 PSI, give or take some. The mis seems to be most obvious at low RPM, below 3K or so, after that it seems ok. Heres what i know about the car, it has a rebuilt motor, i confirmed that. I peeked in the cylinders an the hone marks look brand new. When i bought the car, it came with turbo injectors, they seem factory, they were old so i replaced them. The valves sound a little noisy, could use an adjustment. I was given advice by two people so far, First, run some fuel system cleaner and see if it cleans up, maybe some carbon build up on the valves. Second, check the valve clearance to see if they might have too much play possibly not opening the all the way. Thats all that i can remember. Any help would be great.

I go away for a week an this happens?? Haha nice one, think a paperback would work too!! No offence taken, all in good fun right?

this probably has been brought up, but can you put the l28et turbo on a l28e without it spilling all it's guts? I got an 83 280zx na and want to turbo it. What would be the best way of going about it? Can the n/a handle the boost? What will I need besides the turbo, exhaust and intake?
