  1. Yeah I'm sad to see it go, I'm sure some of you know the feeling of coming home everyday with no time to work on it, it just sits there getting dusty. Felt bad everytime I walked past it because I couldn't give it the time it needed. I will purchase another one but this time I'll wait until I'm finally settled in my home in Mississippi instead of trying to do it while traveling with work.. -William Ronie
  2. Honestly it's great. A major downside I've noticed is major blind spots while driving. Also since I havent driven a stick in about 8 years I feel like I'm really giving that transmition a beating. I guess we will soon know about the quality of the transmition haha. I picked the touring model with the sport package upgrade, also took the lighted rails, mp3 player, and GPS. All in all a very fun car, I'm sure it won't keep up with the hybridZs but it's alot of fun to drive around and man talk about getting some looks =) -William Ronie
  3. here are some shots of it. Enjoy -William Ronie
  4. 240ztt, something that was said earlier that can't be stressed enough is make sure you're getting the care you need and deserve. Get a second, third, forth, tenth opinion if you have to. Don't settle for one someones solution that isn't working. I hurt my back when I was 16 (got hit by a truck) to this day I have pain (I'm 26), but it wasn't until 5 or 6 years ago that I talked to a therapist about proper things to do everyday that relieved alot of my pain. You're never going to just magically get better, but with the proper information you can make it much more manageable, and once you've done that it's alot easier to get the other things in your life on track. Until you get to that point, take it easy a little, maybe pay a local neighborhood kid $10 to cut the grass for you or other small odds and ends stuff. On a more personal side, I think what you're doing for your niece is amazing. It sounds like you both have your heads on straight and are doing all you can (for her and yourself) to have a happy life. Good luck -William Ronie
  5. Well as some of you saw I just wasn't able to complete the car I purchased and tried to finish. I'm working lots of hours and just don't have the time to dedicate to it, but hopefully the person who bought it will have alot of fun. I did however decide I needed to stay in the Z family, so I went and got a 370 8-)8-) I'll snap some pics of it tomorrow in the day light. Just thought I'd share my joy. Also my wife and I finally closed on our first house a month ago and one day I hope to be able to actually move into it.. I currently travel for work (with my wife) and we travel about 290 days out of the year. -William Ronie
  6. We fall into the 33% bracket unfortunatly and also I do get a 1099 every year. I was unaware that I could setup a personal 401k but from what you're saying it doesn't sound worth it. Also I do pay estimated taxes but thought this year I would try the savings route and pay closer to tax time to see if it made me any money, from the sound of it the penalties and interest are going to completely destroy what little interest I made on it. And also yes, I am definately a contractor. I'll look for the book and thanks for the information. If you come up with any more info please let me know, until then I'll be reading over the books everyone suggested. -William R
  7. I am classified as self employed, I pay my own taxes, insurence, etc so unfortunatly no matched 401k or anything like that. Right now we've been putting back between, 4 and 6k per month into savings. Keep in mind my taxes still come out of that at the end of the year, so it's not all my money. It sits in savings and I know we get some type of % but it's so small it's not worth thinking of, if the money is there I would like it to be working for me. I'm more worried about putting my trust in someone and getting scammed than I am about losing the money. I understand anything I invest in could end up costing me. I'll look for some beginner investment books, any that you would suggest would be appreciated, otherwise I'll just see what Amazon has to offer. Thanks again -William R
  8. Quick background, I did I.T. work for a number of years. At most I was making $19/hr and felt it was a decent living. I lucked into a job doing Land and Mineral title work for oil companies. I've been doing it steady for 5 years and even managed to get my wife hired and now we travel together and do it. We just purchased our first home and are going to keep going with our savings. We are both 25 and feel like it's time we got smart about what to do long term with our money. I've considered talking to financial advisors to learn about investment options, but I really wonder if they would tell you the right things, or will they just make off with your money. My wife is pretty set on CDs and things like that, but I have a hard time believing that is the best way to invest (lock of $5k of money for 6 months to make $50). I'm interested in things that are fairly low risk but I do want the money at the end to be worth it. Any tips you guys could give me on things I should look into would be appreciated. I don't mind giving more details about income or savings if it helps with the ideas. -William R (polarity)
  9. No this is the trim inside the car, it runs from the dash to the windshield, and is held in place by two little plastic clips -polarity
  10. Sorry for the vague title, but I really don't know what these items are called. On the 280ZX they are used to hold the trim that goes along the side of the windshield up to the roof. They are little plastic pieces that I was unable to remove without breaking. Whatever those are called, I was wondering where I could pick up some new ones. If no one knows offhand what I'm talking about I'll take some pictures of it this afternoon. -polarity
  11. Best of luck, after reading the book he explains many methods for many types of dents. Lucky for me I just ripped a fender off the car when the wheel came off (one less fender to repair now, ordered a new one from Z Car Source). If you're made of money I suggest popping your wheels off 1 at a time while you drive until you've ordered a completely new car. Just kidding on that last bit, but please post back with what/how you do finally fix this pesky little dents. -polarity
  12. I'll jump in since I've been fighting with this problem myself. You can get this tool http://www.dingking.tv/Ding-King-Twist-A-Dent-Kit?leadsource=PS112&s_kwcid=ding-king|1530747919&gclid=CL6Wi6WvpZYCFQENgQodRBvL6g It works pretty well on some dents, but it really depends on the type of dent. Doesn't seem to pull hail dents out to well. Also once you remove the glue with the remover, you can still see it on the car. So you would need to find someway to remove those spots. If you do have hail type dents the method I like best so far is to get a torch (I used my kitchen torch for doing creme brulee), heat the dent pretty good, then hit it with an upside down bottle of compressed air. You actually get to hear the dent pop back into place. I'm told dry ice works better, but I can't find any dry ice local. The downside to this method is any paint you may have had will be ruined and the dents still aren't perfect when you're done. And finally when all else fails I suggest How to Paint Your Car on a Budget by Pat Ganahl. Look it up on Amazon. It talks in great detail about what you would need to do to correct any type of body issues. In my case it pointed out that I am NOT the type of person to paint the car myself and it would be best that I let someone else do it. At least I know that now instead of 6 months at $1000 worth of paint supplies later. Hope it helps -polarity
  13. If you were going to a shop for that type of work who would you go to. I want a shop that if I drop it off when I get it back I have no doubts about the work done. I would also want someone who is willing to put work into it. I know you get what you pay for, but I also want someone who isn't going to charge me more than it's worth. While it's in the shop I was hoping to have the lt1 rebuilt and possibly add a turbo.. When I get it back I expect everything to be working (lights, blinkers, wipers, speedo/tach/etc). -polarity
  14. Car is a 280ZX with LT1/4l60e running. I want to keep that setup but probably go for a few upgrades while it's in. As for reasons, I just love the car. a ZX was the first car I ever bought (I was 16) and always had a great love for them. I would like to get it done for less, I was hoping $15k would get the result i was looking for. Still trying toshop around, just wanted to get some input from the community on where to go. -polarity
  15. Hey guys sorry for repost but needed some info. Has anyone used Z Car Source for any work to their cars? The wife has decided that sending the ZX to a restoration shop would be best for both of us (wheel coming of the car while I was driving has her abit spooked). The rough quote without looking at the car was $30,000. What I'd like to know is first, is this shop good? Is the work worth the money, and second do you know of any other shops like this that you would reccomend. If you know another shop, they must be willing to do a payment plan (even a pay as we work kinda plan), must be an all inclusive shop. Willing to do body/interior/wiring/engine/everything. Thanks -polarity
