  2. I have a 1977 280z which runs great but at times has trouble starting up because the RPM needle is lower, less than one, but when it runs normally it stays at 1. I need to know how to raise the rpm needle to a little bit over 1 (In between 1 and 1 and a half) can anyone please help me with this?
  3. If anybody has a datsun 280z 1977 could you please check where the fuel pump wires lead to? mine stop at the bottom passenger seat, so if anyone could compare i would greatly appreciate it!
  4. Yay I fixed the battery problem it was the voltage regulator thanks for all the help everybody it was well appreciated

  7. Well when i try to start the car it reads on the voltmeter that the battery goes down then as soon as the car starts it goes back up. Also, when i rev the engine too hard it reads on the voltmeter that it goes down and as soon as i let go of the pedal it rises back up. And if i keep on trying to start the car the battery will die out, usually i disconnect the battery just in case the battery does die out when its parked in the backyard but i don't for sure.
  8. ok so i changed the negative cable to the starter where its suppossed to be and the battery keeps going down, i know for sure its the alternator and i need to get a new one but a couple of months ago i took it off and took it to autozone just to see if it worked and they told me it did but im gonna go ahead and buy one to see if it solves the problem, if the battery level keeps going down then what could be the problem...???
  9. Well actually the one with the two pickups weren't just for automatics mine has a 4- speed standard transmission and has two pickups. I know that the 75 has two pickups as well so will one of those work on my 76 or do i HAVE to get one from a 76...??? ( does it matter if it's a 2+2...???)

So i brought my 76 280z (2+2) over to a mechanic and told me that the distributor wasn't working so i brought him over another one to replace it and said it was different so thats when i thought should'nt all distributors from the z's be the same...??? I mean 72-76 should be the same right...??? Please reply Thanks in advance

  15. Jeffer949 was right switching to carbs solved the problem whew thought i had to do a rebuild but thanks everybody for the advice it was all really appreciated
  16. Ok so i just finished doing a conversion to some carbs but i got stuck with a problem... I replaced the electrical fuel pump to a electrical carburater fuel pump at the back but the positive cable wont work since i took out the wiring harness so how can i get power to the pump...??? I need to connect it to something that'll turn on when the car does otherwise if i just connect it to the battery or something it'll be pumping gas all night lolz

  19. Ok so how do you do a pressure and leakdown test...??? What do you need to do both tests...??? First thing I'm gonna do is do the swap and check if the gas leaks and if it does well then I only wish one of you guys could help me out with this... Is there any member that would be willing to help me out with this...???
  20. If replacing the rings is 60% then what would be the rest...??? Around how much money does someone spend to do a rebuild...??? How hard is it to do all this...???

  24. So how do you a cylinder pressure test and a leakdown test...??? What tools will you need to do both tests...??? Can you get the rings you mentioned an autozone...???
