  1. I have a new SDS Em4-6E that I bought about a year ago off of a friend who failed to finish his project, the system was never installed.

     

    So here I am with an "E" system but I would like to run coils or coil packs and I really don't really want to dump the big chunk of change ($400.00-$600.00) they want for a coil pack and new pickup from SDS to make it an "F" system.

     

    I had an idea of running the SDS off the EDIS tach output signal. If that will not work then 2 pickups (SDS&EDIS) wouldn't be a problem to make.

     

    Any thoughts or ideas?

  2. From everything I've read and seen on the front suspension of the S130, the S13 struts, spindles and hubs will swap over as a complete unit. This opens you up to better brake upgrades, off the shelf parts and even a 5 lug hub swap that is for the most part a boltup deal with aftermarket hubs. There is a 5 lug hub in the salvage yards that I found will bolt to the S13 but not the S14 spindles, there is a shaft diameter difference.

     

    The S14 spindles will not work because of the larger balljoint used on the S14, however the S14 front goods will bolt onto the Z31 from what I've read. Please don't hold.

     

    From what I've read, the rear is very much like the Z31 and certain S12 models so some of the stuff should crossover.

     

    This is what I've found so far, is there much truth to this?

    Finned stock was tapped with 3/8NPT.

    Smooth stock as of right now is tapped with 1/4NPT.

    I have larger smooth stock going on my website this January. I'm having a little trouble getting AN fittings for any better price then you can at the moment, the supplier I had went under. Sorry if I havn't got back to you, I will have to check my email to see if for some reason your emails might be going into the spam bin, this happens sometimes. You have no idea how many emails I get from scammers since my email is allover the net from doing business. I don't know anyone here well enough to avoid them..:) Hope this info helps and happy new year.

  4. I had SDS on my turbo Z and loved it after tuning a lot on it, now I have SDS for my L28ET powered S13. The tuning is the issue.. I don't see why you can't get as much if not more HP out of your setup then the other guys when useing the SDS system over a modded stock setup. Correct me if I'm wrong but it kinda sounds like you just didn't get it to a good tuned state. I wish you luck with your setup.

    It's my understanding that there is a reason Nissan went FROM aluminum and plastic injector holders TO 100% plastic. The aluminum pces that are being sold on Ebay are beautiful but I'm pretty sure the plastic acts like an insulator.

  6. I really need to findout where I can buy metal localy. I made a few very stout wood benches (I made an "A" every year in wood shop and I worked for a cabinet maker for a short time). I like the wood benches for many things but they're not good to weld on.

    Just an idea of mine and I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this. I'm gonna build my metal benches in sections that can be bolted together so that if I have to move to a new place it will be easier to move things. I also have the idea of making once section of bench that has lockable casters on it that way I can unbolt it from the rest and move it out to where I need it for special projects.

     

    Welding is awsome....;)

    I have the intake, rail and TB setup for the KA24E you want. They just had a setup on Ebay about a week or so ago, it went for a nice chunk of change, email me if you're interested and make me an offer.

  8. When you say "MAF" do you mean AFM?

    MAF= Straight through tube with a sensor hanging in the middle.

    AFM= A "box" with a flap that has a sensor attached to the flap.

     

    With the idea that you have all the stock 82-83 turbo EFI parts, I would think you to break out the DVOM and FSM to check the coolant temp sensor, AFM, computer or a possible short in the harness. They are in the order I would check them. You really need a FSM or at least some copied pages from one if you don't have one on hand.

    I have "0" S30's at the moment, I sold them off. Is it that you want to pull the "L" out of that car because it's not a clean install? I used a Skyline X-member and my install came out nice. I often hear that "it looks like it belongs there", "that's a clean install" & "there's a turbo in there, where?".

    As you can see, I personaly like the "L" motor in the S13 but this does not mean that i would turn down a nice S30 if I found one. I still have a turbo stroker sitting in the garage waiting to go into something.

  10. Man you scared me, I had to step outside and make sure mine is still in the driveway. I live in Louisiana but 10 min from the Mississippi bourder.

    The L28ET fits nicely in the S13 and yes it's different. It's been said many times that the "L" motor is powerful, reliable, strong, cheap and easy to work on.

    I can't really remember everything now days cause I think "old-timers" is sinking in but I want to say that the thread in the manifold flange (turbo mounting part) is 10x1.50 and the thread on the other end of the stud is 10x1.25 or 1.0. The stock studs in the last manifold I had, had the 2 different thread pitches. I replaced all 4 studs in my manifold a while back but I didn't bother going with the 2 different pitched studs although I know why Nissan did it, it will be fine at one pitch. Follow me?

    I can tell you what I know from 11 years of working on Jaguars for a living.

    The Jag V12 is not worth the time and effort because of the cost, few design flaws and the weight of the engine. The engine was designed on the racetrack and the ones they built for racing are torn down often, the ones built for the street were built a lot like the ones built for the track but we don't rip down the ones in our street cars as often as the racers do and there lies a problem. I have had to work on countless V12s and 99.9% of them had the heads seized to the block, this was not fun when doing headgaskets. They don't make enough power in stock form to justify the swap the way I see it, now this does not mean they can't be modded beause there's some guys around the world that are modding them and getting some good power but you can only imagine the $$ being dumped into them. They are VERY HEAVY motors and also when running they put off some serious heat, these are factors that you should consider. I'm not telling you what to do because by al means follow your heart but have your heart consult your bank account.

    Ohh yeah, let me know (VIA email is the best way to contact me) if you need any tech info, I still have all my diagrams and some tech books on the V12s even though I been away from Jaguar for the past 3-4 years...;)

    That's why most of us here on HybridZ build things ourselves, it saves money so we can use it in other areas of the car.....

  14. From what I understand that is a weak spot on the Z's even when useing stock parts and driving a little harsh. Anything can break and it's always possible for things to be made and have one or so production flaws.

     

    From this post I don't gather that Ross is being bashed and as it's been said, This is the first I've heard of one breaking. Ross makes some fine products. We all know that the parts makers are not fighting over the chance to make parts for old Z's.

  15. I agree with Z-gad becuase I know of 2 people that have sheetmetal intakes made by a supplier that made a good bit. These 2 were put under some heavy boost from what I understand and both popped a weld from the metal bowing. 1/4 does seem thick and might help a lot when it comes to bowing.

  16. I tied into the plug under the right side of the dash, search the 240SX forums. I had to run a few other wires in my engine harness but it was mostly for extra gauges. Funny thing is my stock tach works just fine and the RB guys claim to "HAVE TO" change the tach with a Maxima tach. I wired in a fuel pressure, oil pressure and boost gauges.
