  1. worked for a solid 3 hours trying to tune the carbs, but every time i seemed to be getting close, it would end up being a let down when i would try to drive it. the tuning goes fine in the driveway but when it gets on the street it just putters then dies.i think i will buy the colortune kit after i do some reading up. ive been using this site as my guide. http://www.justbrits.com/Articles/TuneWeber.html
  2. yea im not really a fan of them either but i learned to love mine. im surprised, they cleaned up really well for being 30 years old.
  3. yea there are only a handful of Zs in the area, but temecula has the datsun heritage museum and a strong group of ZCCIV members in the area but i havent been able to make it to the meetings. i plan on doing the 5 speed swap because the 4 speed auto isnt any good.
  4. wow great work, seems like youve got it down pretty well. good luck and cant wait to see where this goes. =)
  5. i did some driving last night and i am very happy with the way the sound deadening came out. it is extremely quiet in there with noise coming mostly from the firewall, doors, and windows. i went into it not expecting much but my time and money actually seemed to have been worth it.
  6. forgot to add yesterday that my timing was about 40 degrees advanced yesterday, so we turned the dizzy the other direction and only managed to get it to about 20 degrees, any ideas??? links to sound deadening and wiper motor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7eIF4cgFx4&feature=PlayList&p=B85248DEC4F8DE5C&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=92 http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/wipermotor/index.htm
  7. hot one today. high 90s from 8 am to 6pm. but i got new spark plug wires and the car is running (but not well) my brothers and i took a shot at trying to tune the carbs and i think we are moving forward, but i think i will see a specialist in the near future. there is a massive ticking but im pretty sure its a leak at the headers because my headers didnt have the correct bolt holes for some of the mounting spots, im going to fix that sooner or later. the car idles very low while in gear but very high in park, but the weird thing is that the car idles in drive at 25 mph. took a video of it in my driveway for u guys to look at, you can hear the change and the leak. was thinking about burning out .... but its my driveway and neighbors were out. free via my autozone rewards card. washed it again today, our cars get dusty every few days due to the wind and location put in all new hoses and everything is bolted up muffler without the tip. the height and depth are ok but not perfect sucks up close to the body when u get under the car its pretty snug in there but i think im going to alter some parts to get the desired fit. VIDEO
  8. the exhaust sounds really good when its working but the webers are giving me a hard time. i just ordered new floats for them and they should come in within the week. ive tried so hard with them but i think im going to put them up for sale, im just not skilled enough to deal with them. its hot today but i will take pictures and try to get some videos posted. wish me luck.
  9. put my exhaust kit on... bolted everything back up,almost had everything done.... but cut my hand open making a replacement hose... DAMN IT...
  10. well msa didnt respond to my email, but when i called today they said that i could go in and switch one out. i test fitted the exhaust system yesterday and everything seems fine. the muffler hangs a bit low but thats due to space constraints, and i had to modify the msa y pipe considerably in order for it to fit with my no name headers. a few cuts and alot of welding later it fits the way i had in mind. i took the grinder to it and am currently painting it, but i dont have my nikon with me today, so... no pics if i cant find an alternate camera.
  11. after closer inspection i noticed some pretty deep spiral scratches along with some horizontal cuts on the exhaust tip. got me pretty upset because i paid alot for the kit and the only part that will actually show is damaged. i emailed them but they had closed already, i hope i get a new tip.
  12. WOOO !!! my brother just got back from the MSA shop in Anaheim and he picked up my exhaust system. its the performance setup for the 3 into 2 headers. its 2 1/2 all the way back to a dynomax muffler. i snapped a few pics of what came in the box and how everything looks roughly put together. the setup is a slip together kit with exhaust clamps. kit came with - 3 pipes - 4 pipe clamps - 1 chrome tip - 1 dynomax muffler - 1 dynomax sticker - 2 exhaust hangars
  13. ok so, not going to get much work done today, party at my house. but i did manage to put down some walmart weatherstrip to try and prevent against exhaust fumes in the cabin. i got a roll of 25 ft for $3 and it seems like pretty solid stuff. its soft with an adhesive backing and if it doent work i will just rip it off.
  14. well thanks for checking it out, if you have any questions on how to get these items installed just send me a PM or ask on here. these last few weeks have been a time of great luck in terms of finding parts and ive gotten almost everything that ive wanted to get done in the time frame that i set for myself. the jc whitney seals should come in next week or so, but as soon as i get it in, i will post pictures and give a review on fitment.
  15. just bought the window channel felt seal from jcwhitney.com it was on sale for $1 so i bought 2 but shipping brought the total to $10 =( they should work but if they dont im only out $10 heres the link its style 26 http://www.jcwhitney.com/all-rubber-window-channels/p2009944.jcwx
  16. u have a link to the seller or were they the only set?
  17. the honda wiper swap was a lot easier than i thought it would be. handled it in about an hour to an hour and a half. but i took pictures of everything and of my weatherstrip and carpet as promised. hatch is back on, seal stuck on there well with 3m adhesive the structure of the rx7 stripping couldnt glue this part down because i still need the spare tire well looks really good but i wish i did a better job in some areas old wiper motor grossness in there took the plug and stripped all the wires at my desk spliced the wires according to the online diagrams soldered the wires shrink tubing shrinked the groups together electrical taped everything in a line test fitting the honda motor after the bracket mods used the bench grinder to get it flat, hacksaw to cut the notch, and a drill to make new holes took the main gear out of the honda motor and took 2 mins on the bench grinder matches the old motor perfectly reinstalled the gear into the motor put the assembly in the original bag used the rubber grommet from the honda because the original broke into pieces video of the wiper arms in action... i need those little rubber bushings...
  18. yea im really feeling that way now... i just want to enjoy it. but there is so much i want to get done with it that the end seems so far away, and it might not even run properly.... if it doesnt run right when i put it all back together i think ill throw in the towel and send it in to a z specialist...
  19. damn... uhhh ... i think its 2 days too late for that. =| i reaaaalllllyyyyy should have done that. what problems do u think may arise???
  20. YAY! thanks for the reply. and yes the RX7 FC rear hatch seal works, i was skeptical when i first heard it from Crazyoctopus in the members projects section. surprisingly i got everything (kia spotage seals, Rx7 seal, and the honda wiper motor) all in one trip to the junkyard. everything came out to be around $30. the weather stripping was in pretty good condition but there was so much extra from each seal i easily cut out the sections that werent needed (there was about 1 foot extra per seal). im going to do the window wiper motor mod tomorrow, or at least try to... and hopefully i can go out to the zcarparts shop and pick up an exhaust system, im thinking about the $220 performance setup. as for the pictures.... i will take them tomorrow in the morning because its dark now. thanks for viewing! it means alot to me that there are viewers out there =) -PatSab
  21. hey octo, thanks for the RX7 weather strip idea. i got mine installed and it seals beautifully. i also think im going to msa for exhausts as well, how do you like your setup from them?
  22. i cant believe how great everything looks now that its put back together, all the carpet is in, the weather stripping is perfect, all the door jambs match, and the hatch is on and closes beautifully with the RX7 weather seal. reply if you want to see pictures so i can see if anyone reads this. =) -PatSab
  23. got some last minute stuff done while watching a movie. cut the carpet padding which will be glued in tomorrow morning. ive got a lot of padding left, =\ might just put some into my brother's mustang if mine goes out well
  24. gosh it was ridiculously hot today and i am sunburned from working ... but the work carries on ... today's list of accomplished tasks - painted rear hatch jambs - plugged the other passenger side hole - put the quick roof material down in the hatch area, spare tire area, driver and passenger areas, and in the 2 small compartments - went to autozone and bought oil
  25. awesome car and rims... but the tires .... =| all that matters is that you like them ... we all have our desired look. btw where did u say u got those mirrors?
