  1. hey guys and gals once again hey does anyone out there know what john morton and pete brock did to the z specifically or if their was a website showing their modifications to the 240z i would like to build my suspension up to it and see their setup, also would like to know if anyone out there has a twin cam toyota motor running in an s30, thanx a lot
  2. hey guyz and galz im selling my v8z and looking to get another really nice stock 240 from a friend in the coming weeks, or days if i could. im wondering what would be the best motorswap besides the v8, oh gosh i will miss monster torque madness. but iwant to go with a 6 cylinder turbo, im very ansy about going with the silvia swap four banger for one, and the other being an imported engine with limited support if something went wrong im thinking about a early turbo supra motor, heard that the supra tranny can be bolted up to the l24-8 with an special plate, i am wondering why not the motor as well grand national motor sounds awesome, and may be an option. guys out there with the l28, how do you like it and is the boost reliable and spool up quick enough for you, and does anyone out there know or have a toyota motor powered datsun, inquired fellow z head would love to know. thanx leonard fairlady turbo 6?
  3. yo, that is an ill swap right there, supra is pretty hardcore, lots of power there ever think about the 300z twin turbo swap???? skyline maybe better, but very expensive and also hard to reconfigure to lhd, maybe also try those silvia 1.8, i know its a four banger, but with built turbo ive seen them get 9's in japan..... right now im a v8 z er, i got my car like that and im really just building him up for reliability, and thats the cheapest and the most bang for your buck, but if i could do it agian i would probably buy a stock z and throw a turbo six of some sort, maybe even go grand national block, another safe swap from what i see from that man Scottie-GNZ....check him that setup looks crazy.... but yeah, v6 or straight six, that turbo is great, check out zcar.com a while ago some guy was selling skyline engines and wiring harnesses, hope you go through with it,,,,, good luck
  4. hey thanks for the insight, imma check out those stroker kits for the 305, im scared im gonna lose the heart of the beast( i call my car the ghetto blaster), but if im going to keep baby, hes gonna have to get a heart transplant that can take frequent freeway trips, which scare me a little with the 327 as he is. has any of you guys taken the fuel injected leap? is there anything special i will need to inform me and my staff with regarding the difficulty of this swap??? my goal is a tpi 305 stroked out with a nice low to mid range cam roller valvetrain, maybe some ignition and injector minor upgrades, but im building him to be a daily driver with a little thug in him, maybe a little over 300 hp, any info would be of great appreciation. thanx Leonard fairlady of the ghetto
  5. P.S. WELL DUH! We are talking TPI! What was the HP rating of the car it came out of? Aluminum heads? This is a MUCH closer call and a bit harder to install too BTW. High pressure fuel and a return line to the back for that bad boy. [This message has been edited by BLKMGK (edited August 03, 2000).][/b] the horsepower is somewhere between 220-245 stock aluminum heads i was going to do this before sticking it in roller rockers lifters, roller cam set up for my 3.36 rear end timing chain, electronic ignition box and 350 rods and crank to make it somewhat of a tpi 327ish machine, now what do you think ( my friend is a mechanic, and says that with the rods and crank it would become a 327ish type displacement block with the corresponding horse and torq, maybe a little quickeer, but i do love this camel hump service i have been rendering the local hondas, maros, and stangs.....the only defeats i suffered thus far have been from a zz4 powered 240 and a 1996 300z bumpin 20psi) i should do? i would build the tpi block up before putting it in. the camel hump is kickin ass, but i see long freeway commutes in my future, and man you know .... thanx mr. black magic, according to your expereience what do you think i should do????
  6. hey homies and hometters, man i am in a funny dilemma here. i have the oppurtunity to swap a tpi 305 into my z for next to nothing, i already have the block and all the wiring but, i heard that the 305 (which is from a 80's camaro) doesnt make all that much power stock, right now i run a stock 327 with camel hump heads and 600cfm double pumper as the only mods, if you can call them that. i do run my car hard, but i dont dog him out but i do run lively all the live long day, and you can find me sideways every now and again, as well as me counting how many burnouts until my tires go. but joking aside, what would the differences that i would see with fuel injection, and would it be possible to run the tpi harness on the 327 without taking off the camel hump heads, whcih i love dearly. i do have an ad to try and sell the 305 , but i want to know the goods and bads of the swap,, if i use the 305, the 327 will up for grabs, with 30,000 miles rebuilt.also, on the newer 305's will the muncie 21 4spd work with it???? sorry for all the questions, but its for the love of the game that i ask them. thanx Leonard the fairlady 305???
  7. hey guys and gals, i am just about to start the 4x4 brake swap on my 1972 z car, will i need wheel spacers, i am running 280zx rims on 205/70 r14 tires right now, really small i know, but you know the road im taking to smoke em off,(cant waste em!) will i need to use wheel spacers in this setup? another question what is a good size tires for the rear, i have no traction with the setup i have now and dont think posi is in the budget for a while. i was thinking about going to 15 or 16 in the back and keeping the tires 14 in the front 15 in back, or 15 on front and 16s out back, what size offset is good for the back and the front??/ thanxz guys Z's rule! Leonard, the fairlady claims posi but really has a mean one legger that can coax the other one into cooperation.,....
  8. Thanks guys, something is up with the clutch i could drive, scary style, to the house where im working on it now, damn i had to drop the steering column and the exhause to get the tranny, man...but yeah, im getting a new clutch and my flywheeel resurfaced what do you think of this setup im staying with the 12inch clutch plate with a three finger pressure plate, the place where i get clutches made is going to rebuild it and make that clutch really thick for some slappin....that plate was worn right to the rivets!!!!!! broken throw out bearing as well. man.....hopefull thats it though, thanx
  9. hey there, i havae another topic, that would be the r200 destruction i have just accomplished, on that tip, im also looking around mounting a gm differential and possibly a posi transaxle on this badboy, with the hot rod support so i can relieve myself of the agony of the ass falliing off my car, have any of you hot boys put a chevy rear end out there, and how????
  10. hey guys and gals, i need your help again man, my rear end diff has been clunky for the longest time , and the other day it went out on me i believe, after hearing a series of nasty thumpy noises in gear cruising it wont go into gear now, and reverse grinds crazily and wont engage, i do have a 327 sbc in this bad boy, what do i have to do to get this guy up and running and what modifications can i do to make the differential more sturdy, like a solid diff mount and what other kind of supports are there???? any input is greatly appreciated.
  11. hey guyss, its the ish talking fairlaady with a bonehead problem i mixed up the firing order on my sbc powered datsun 240z, and im bummed i know its probably the firing order, which i know, but how do i figure out where to place the first wire, after that its clockwise in firing order i know that. which way should the window on the cap face and which way should the rotor face any help would be so greatly appreciated i have almost mastered the art of making headlights work on the old zs and ill share that with you too if you guys need it, thats really all i have to barter thanx from a dummy Leonard the fairlady needs help!!!
  12. hey guys, thanx for your help, lights on and im back at the dragsss..... here is what happened, and it took some fabrication on my part and my friends part to rig the lights back on ok, there are these three rubber nubs with springs in them that make it so the switch to the light clicks on or off, mine was burnt out, the rubber nub i mean, so that i would not activate the lights, the wires are fine and i resodered them for exactness ok... those rubber nubs with springs were replaced with these plastic ventilation plugs for a ford which can be found in any kragen or generic autostore, usually in the universal part section where the nuts and bolts are located, i cut the tops of the ventilation plugs, which are very small and placed them where the rubber nubs were and boom.....lights on!!!!!!! and tonight i just smoked a drop top five oh with crome pony rims and flowmasters, im back guys thanx for the help zpower forever, thats what time it is Leonard, the fairlady rides again.;..
  13. thanx guys, ill look into it, the wire i believe to be smoldering is the right side away from the driver on the sterring column box there , as it is not soldered on as the other wires are, my column has smoked up twice and my lights are kaput tell me how the H4 conversion with the painless wiring setup looks when you get that done, man this red hot fuse problem with the z is real!!!!! ill try and try and try. Leonard, grounded for a short time on planet reality....
  14. hey there guys and gals man i have a situation over here my lights have been giving me a problem for some time now, with the connection being loose in the steering colummmn well, one night im on the freeway and the column starts smoking, and now whatever i do or try they will not come on again, its crazy do you guys have any suggestions? the chilton manual is out of help for me and i really need to fix this quick any help would be greatly appreciated thanx a bunch Leonard len168@onebox.com
  15. hey homiez/homettes. how is it going, dont you love destroying these new school cars and muscle cars/ i know i do, i love reving on them and watching them fear me. toomuch. so much, i want to go faster. i was wondering what would be needed to swap in a 350TPI from an 80's maro into a 1972 datsun 240z widow maker mob shot. right now i have a 327 sbc on a rockcrusher four spped tranny, that is running great. im not going to do this soon, money and time are short these days, but maybe in a couple months when i get all the swap stuff down and that starts with the right block and tranny. i have a lot of questions concerning the space, namely hood clearance issues that i would like to figure out well. does any of you guys run this kind of setup, and are they quick. i know they get like 270hp out of the 350, any of you guys have one built to the monster pimp status yet? i want to be a monster pimp as well, any help would be greatly appreciated. ok guys, keeping killing those canthang five point slows and sloppy fat man scarecrow maros, and those jane hondas, my favorite prey....... Leonard. the fairlady 327z
  16. hey fellas. i really love my z, really fast for a guy like me, i used to really big on hondas, but i look at this way, no mater what i do to this thing,it, will always be a front wheel driver, and you just cant do the same things. well, now i have a great v8 z, and love it to death. one problem the brakes scare me sometimes. they are stock and when i need to stop at speeds it gets kind of scary. what brake mods are the best and cost efficient. the setup i would love to do is an all disk conversion with steel lines. will the 4x4 front calipers work with stock rotors? and for the back, any suggestions? maybe later model z rear disk, will that be funny considering the front brakes would have a bit more power? also, i am running 205-50-14's on my car will there be problems with brake fitting with this tire offset? sorry if i sound dumb, but i really need this car to stop as good as it starts, you guys know how it is. thanks for any info. Leonard the fairlady 327 (drag queen)

    V12

wow a v12, sounds interesting, but also like a lot of trouble. jaguar parts are expensive for that same money you could get a brand new zz4 or that viper v10 without the dramatics of haaving a european v12 that is also old at the same time. an sbc is awesome in a 240 ask all the bmws and lexuses that get real good stares at my taillights when they try to do something. but if you can work that swap out more power to you, but remember the costs and end product when you consider, man go with the viper block, guarenteed you are knockin that tired v12 off the turf with taht money maker. good luck either way.
  18. hey homies and homettes right now i love the heck out of my z except for one thing, which is still a good thing, but hurts on the freeway i have a 411 r200 linked up to a muncie 350 4speed transmission that gets 0-60 in like 4.5 seconds, but ill be the freeway doing 75 topped out at 3000rpm!!!!!!!!!!and getting negative gas mpg i want to build this 327sbc swap to run fairly cool, be this a bigger radiator or more modifications. i know one big answer is a 5speeed tranny which is the best for running low rpm at freeway type speed and what do you guys with the five speed get on gas, i will sacrifice some acceleration for a better top end and freeway speed any other mods that would cause me to run a little cooler guys?????? thanx guys and keep rocking everycar in sight!!!!!! Leonard the real rice rocket
