  1. Per my measurements, the L28 will not fit without cutting into the firewall. I considered this same swap into my sons 521 PU but opt'ed for an SR20det.This also goes for the 510. Both were designed for a 4 cyl and theres no room for the extra 2 jugs.Luckily, the distance from the motor mou nts to the front of each motors is the same, so theres little to no mods needed in front. I say , go for it.

  2. Back by popular demand,I'm doing another run of diff mounts. The price has gone up to $55.00 each, shipped within the US. For overseas orders, I'll need to quote you. Parts have been cut and await punching, forming and welding.Parts will be ready for shipping by the end of next week. If you want one, just send a check payable to Brad Robertson. 3. Ive mentioned this swap in other forums but now I'll start giving updates here.We are still waiting for the new motor to arrive from Japan but we've been prepping the truck for its arrival. Heres some pics Ive already shown but they should also be in this thread to show things from the start.

heres the truck the day we hauled her home

My local body shop owed me a paint job from some fab work I had done for him over the last year or so. There was very little rust and no dents to speak of so he did this job for repayment. He also Rihno'ed the bed at no charge.

My son drove it with the stock L16 for a year and a half with lots of minor problems, mostly fuel related. He's been seeing me prepping for an RB26 swap into my Z and as he was graduating from HS, he decided that a motor swap for his extremely slow truck would be a good graduation present. How could I dissagree? I chose the SR for a couple of reasons. One, there are only a handfull of 521's with this swap and the SR has lots of potential if he gets board with the stock performance.Heres a pic of the engine as it was getting crated in Japan.

The old engine is out and he's cleaning the bay getting ready for new paint. We have the disc brake kits ready to install and fuel tank is ready for a sump install.I'm told the motor will be here within a couple of weeks and we hope to have all these supporting upgrades completed before it gets here.

  4. The brookies are catch and release only but when I went further north for Arctic Char, we did just that, got a nice fire going on the rocky bank and wrapped em up in tinfoil with some onions and tomatoes, S&P and cooked em up streamside. It ranks right up there with best meal to date. They were still twitchen when we wrapped em up....mmmmm fresh fish.

  5. Just got back from Labrador where I was fishing for trophy Brooktrout and thought I'd share a couple of pics. The fish are amazing and being that far away from any civilization is just an incredible feeling. No cell's, no PC, no other planes flying except our De Haviland Beaver floatplane. At one point we were 300 miles away from the nearest town casting dry's to Arctic Char, watching eagles fly around and Otters swiming here and there. There was still patches of snow in the shaded spots and the water was 52 degrees. I'm not a very spiritual guy but I definatley felt something uplifting and special happening to my soul while I was there.Thats all I have to say about that. Anyway, enjoy the pics.

  6. I got some pics of the motor today and it looks mighty clean. Ordered red but got blacktop. Sweet... I'm out of the countrey for a week and a half so hopefully it will be here when I get back. I'm headed flyfishing in Labrador for HUGE brookies. Anyway, heres a shot of the SR.

  7. I use Hypertherm Plasma for both handheld and CNC. Ive hand good luck with noth. I'm going to replace the CNC machine and one of the criteria is that the new machine uses Hypertherms equipment. Another reason is that they're an hour away from me for parts/service. As others have said, thermaldynamics is also a very good choice.

  8. This is what she looks like now. Brake kits on order and the L16 is coming out this weekend so he can clean and paint the bay before the new motor comes. We also have to start planning fuel management. The stock tank will have the same issues as an early Z. Its either sump the tank or build a seperate one. Stock lines arent big enough too, so those will need to be redone. The list will go on, but I'm ready to dig in...I think I want to do this swap as much as my son does. The tables will turn....."hey son, can I borrow your truck tonight" ?
