  4. Hey Gang, Yes, I have been stumped. Just finished a rebuild on a stock 82 Turbo. Got it installed and wount start. Has spark, has fuel, sometimes it will catch and run for about 2 seconds, then die. Everything is basically new. Checked all parameters of the AFM, Cyl head temp sensor, etc... All look good. Just really wierd. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Chris Competition Z

  6. Hey guys, Purchased a cheap turbo from CX racing. No problem with the product, looks good, but my old t3 wast gate doesnt match up. This isnt an upgrade project, just want to replace the turbo. Both are 5 hole, but they dont match up. Anyone run into this problem? Is there a waste gate out there that will bolt to a new t3 t4 that bolts to the stock down pipe? Thanks C

  14. Hey gang (Same post on zcar.com, but wanted to share this with Hybrid as well) It's been along time since I posted anything on here. I felt this was post-worthy though. There's seems to be a lot of doubt in recent posts about these. I didn't want to have to section my struts, so after seeing the Cosmo racing and heavy duty coil overs I thought I'd give it a shot. I have a 76 280Z coupe with a nicely modified engine, Cam, Header, Mega Squirt etc... KYB non-adjustable struts, urithane bushings, no rear sway bar, 205/50/15 sticky BF Goods. I'm a veteran of 20+ track days and numerous AX's having used almost every lowering spring and strut combo out there. I installed the rear ones tonight, set to stock ride height and drove the car. It's raining here in the Northeast so I couldn't really put it to the test, however I have to say I was pretty impressed so far. I purchased the heavy duty ones, not the racing. I believe they state 400 LBS (source of debate on this forum) but I think it's because they are so short. the car was noticably stiffer, but not harsh. Body roll was significantly reduced and the car handled quite well. So far, functionally they work. I hit several decent size pot holes and did not get any bone jarring! I'll get back to you when I've driven it on dry pavement and pushed some corners with it. Stay cool C God Bless America!!! Pray for our Soldiers who keep us Free.
  15. Hey everyone, Didn't see much in the search, but does anyone have or know where I can get my hands on a set of 15x8 or 16x8 wheels with enough back spacing (3.5"?) to fill out my ZG flares? I have a set of 16x7's now but have honda bolt pattern adapters and 40MM offset. If someone wants to trade I'd be interested or is someone wants to buy these so I can buy others let me know. thanks Chris
  16. Hey, Does anyone sell or make an air dam for the Gnose kit? I have an MSA fiberglass.
  17. Adam, When is your appointment with the dyno guy? I jsut installed a Haltech E6K in mine. I'll be down in LI next weel or the week after and I'd love to stop by and check out the Tech II system. You going to the convention in NH? Chris Holmes
  18. Monster, Hey bud I just installed an E6K in my car and got it running (Thanks to you JT) and it's taken me a long time to get it to a reall good running stage. Just start with a base map for all ranges then tweek them form there. Denfinately need a really good Air Fuel ratio meter. You'll be lost without it. I know the read out gives you your mixture, but when your driving it's good to be able to watch the AF ratio meter. The positive side is that when you do get it going it's going to be a monster and it only goes up form there. Very key is to make sure all your set ups, timing, ect... are all correct before you start. I'm very fortunate to have my Brother Brian, who is a wiz at cars helping me tune as I drive. We were doing about 110mph in no time the other day when tuning it on the highway . Fontunately no cops. Good luck getting it going! Chris
  19. Len, I got my system form Tweakit in Australia, you need to speak to Jeremy. His e-mail is jeremy@tweakit.net I bought my system for about $1250.00. It inlcuded everything to get the engine running: E6K, fully completed wire harness (I Highly recommend!!!), Air temp sensor, 3 bar MAP sensor, coolant sensor, manual, electrical connections ect... it also inlcuded shipping. Jeremy, along with JT and few other peopel, have given me excellent support and have made the process go very smooth. Hope this helps, good luck getting a system. I'm off to start mapping mine!! Chris
  20. JT, I will check and get back to you, thanks for the info. Your probably right once again. Thanks again for all your help C
  21. Hey guys, Working on the new system and I've got a dilema. I noticed the A/F ratio number was not changing as I was changing maps. Checked my A/F 30 ratio meter and the left most red is lit up and the right nost green is lit up, nothing moving. the A/F ratio number It is stuck at 459 mv when the car is running and hooked up to laptop. I checked the wiring diagram to see if I wired it wrong and it seems to be fine. disconnected the plug and checked the readings fromt he haltech side. 12.5v from grey and red wire, ground ok, but the signal wire had 4.5volts commoing out of it. As much as I know that shouldn't read anything when discnected from the o2 sensor right? Checked the O2 sensor and it was reading just under 1 volt, car was cold so probably ok. Any thoughts? thanks
  22. I suggest running the multipoint and getting a turbo 82-83 dizzy with a 300ZX (Z31) turbo disc in it. It will probably make life easier. JT any thoughts?
  23. Hey, I'm glad to see I've opened up some discussion ond hope this trail helps people out, JT you are the guru of haltech bud, your info on the wiring helped out tremendously. Now that I've got it running I've got to start running it in the different rpm ranges to make things fly. JT I understand about not being able to give up the maps, it's cool. If I could just see hwat a regular map looks like it would complete my understanding. I'll fish around or trial by error. I dont' have nay pics, but will probably be posting soem tips on install soon. JT is right, if you can wire a stereo you can wire this. it's figuring out how to make it run right is the challenge. I learn more every time I touch it. Stay tuned everyone! Chris
  24. Juan (JSK Innovations) and I finished up the last wiring, did all the set up's and fired up the car. Started after a few tries then died. Juan thought the fuel was cutting off. It was, the initial map in the computer was too lean in the 500 to 1000 rom at low load range. We upped them dramiticly, the car stayed running, a little rich, but it's a start! I was a little scared of the system at first, but it is just increadible and easy to use. the more I learn the better it gets! Thanks to everyone at Hybrid Z who helped me get this thing going. Does anyone have an inital map I could use as a guidline to tune this thing? 280Z Turbo, stock injectors, stock turbo, just looking for fuel and ignition maps. Thanks Chris Prez Z Assoc of NY 76 280Z T
