  1. http://www.motorcities.com/vehicle/08H5H261602949.html Somebody's trying too hard to modernize the car.
  2. Not seeing a link... Interesting is a good word for it. The taillights are just weird, and Im not sure why anyone would go out of their way to make the hatch window smaller. But to each their own... props for effort anyway.
  3. Haha... I can't believe I missed that. I feel like an idiot now... I read as far as "thats neither" in the second post and moved on. It won't happen again .
  4. Looks good! What about the interior condition?
  5. Excellent job! Can't wait to see all of this mounted in a car. Amazing how well those guages fit in there... anyone that didn't know any better would probably assume that's stock!
  6. Little off-topic, but I've seen pictures of that red car around before and have always been curious about the headlight setup... anyone know who owns that car?
  7. I know zcarsource.com sells complete used harnesses, but there is no OEM replacement for the factory harness as far as I know. If you want something that retains the full functionality of the stock harness, you're gonna be piecing that together yourself. Doesn't exactly sound like a fun job.
  8. Beautiful! These would go nicely with the mint gas tank that I scored for the 240... when I swap tanks I will definitely be picking up a set of these. Excellent work!
  9. Definitely sounds too good to be true... The "Nationwide Gasoline Prices" thing on the main page is all kinds of wrong too... unless gas is a dollar per gallon cheaper in MN than it is everywhere else, haha.
  10. Haha, fair enough. The 20B actually has something resembling low end torque though, it's a fairly streetable engine if you don't do anything too insane with it. It came in the JC cosmo, a fairly heavy luxury car... I imagine it would be perfectly at home in the E24 chassis. Gas mileage, on the other hand... :/.
  11. Yeah... the Z is by far the oldest vehicle I have owned and sometimes I forget the amount of stupid things that can potentially be done to a car thats been around for 37 years. At least my chassis fairly solid... pretty much the only thing this car has going for it at the moment, haha. Part of the fun I guess. Fixing cars wouldn't be nearly as satisfying if it was always easy .
  12. If you know you're going to be swapping out motors eventually, put the known good one back in the car. 250k is a lot of miles... I'd almost be willing to bet that one's been rebuilt at least once in its life, but either way if you're not familiar with the history of that motor, you really have no way of knowing how long it will last in its current state. Even more so since the mileage is so high. So yeah... I'd go back to the known good one for now, tear apart the junkyard motor and potentially use that for a buildup down the road.
  13. Manual, for sure. In some ways I guess it would depend on the scenario... downtown/on the freeway/country roads/etc. But in any case, I'd definitely want to have as much control over the vehicle as possible.
  14. Wow... lots of nice cars in this thread. Any love for the E24 6 series here? I've seen them go for decent prices around here lately in not too bad of shape... if I actually had the money and didn't have so many other projects sitting around I'd be all over one. I'm actually thinking my "dream project" that doesn't involve a Z or RX-7 would probably be a Mazda 20B powered E24... that would be a fun daily driver!
  15. Yeah, probably best to wait until I do the floor pans. It's not like the 280Z seats themselves bother me, I can put up with knowing they're welded in for a while longer, haha.
  16. I'm actually curious to see how it will turn out... originality is a good thing. The S14 dash has a much more modern feel to it, but very clean and simple overall. The wheels on that jag look awfully similar to something one would use to get juice out of oranges... -Darren
  17. Though I can't speak for them on a 240SX specifically, I have had the KYB AGX on one of my other cars (RX-7, running them with Racing Beat springs) and I was very impressed. Easy to adjust, too. I've not used the Tokico HP's so I can't directly compare the two, but I can say that I was very, very happy running the KYB's.
  18. I come from the RX-7 forums to the Z forums and I'm still seeing things that look familiar . Excellent work.
  19. Don't worry, not my doing... I was in the process of starting to pull the interior out of my 240 a while back so I could start fixing some of the major rust issues, and when I went to take the seats out, I got a little surprise. I had always known that the seats in there were not correct to the car, but I wasn't sure of the extent of the "damage". I looked under the front of the seat and saw the seat rails overhanging the actual mounting hole, definitely late 280Z seats just ghetto rigged in there. But the rear mounting points were a much sadder story, because they were welded there too, and welded in such a way to make the factory bolt holes pretty much useless. So I am obviously going to have to find a creative way to cut them out without damaging anything else any more than it already is, which should be a joy. And then I'm going to have to either find some proper seats and try and clean up the mounting holes, or more likely, take the opportunity to mount some Turbo II RX-7 seats in there since I will have to do some metalwork anyway. I'm just curious of anyone else has had to deal with a similar situation and could perhaps offer some advice on the best way to go about it. -Darren
  20. Nicely done! If only FD seats were easier/cheaper to find... I'm probably gonna end up doing FC Turbo II seats in mine. Excellent choice though... those are very comfortable and supportive seats!
  21. Interesting idea... I've been kicking around the idea of putting a CF BRE style one on my car, CF really does seem like an ideal material for this sort of application. And cheap... kinda. Take a look at the shipping price! Would be a sweet deal if you lived in that area though. I'd be a lot more tempted to buy one if I saw how it looked actually mounted on a car.
  22. I'd be curious to see how they actually looked on a Z... They look like a decent option for someone just wanting fender mirrors for cheap, but I'm more a fan of the OEM look with the real JDM Nissan mirrors.
  23. I've got a '78 that I'm parting out, the hood vents are good and it has a full set of locks w/ good key, but I may need that for my car, not 100% sure yet. If you still need them in about a week or so I'll probably know for sure then. I may also have #6, I can't remember if it's good or not, I'll have to go look at the car again and get back to you. Let me know what body panels you are looking for. This car is rusted in strange places and clean in stranger places so there's a chance I could have what you need.
