  1. I just sent email with photos of Wilwoods that will be available.
  2. Sent PM re: 15x8 XXR 513's.
  3. Question for Miles: How did those chequered... stub axles worked out? Are they used in any kind of competition? For now, I am using the remaining one of my original 240z stub axles that I've had magnafluxed and one refurbished 240z stub axle bought from the Z Store. I could not find any 280z stubs on short notice.
  4. Thanks for the insights. I had different problems and different tentative solutions on the left and right sides. Just got everything back together today. So far everything is tight, but I need to put the car on the road and see if it still tight afterwards. If so, I'll try to explain problems and solutions for reference for future.
  5. While replacing (2nd time, a separate story) rear wheel bearings on my 240z, I twisted off the stub axle near the base of the threads (not the base of the splines) with about 110 ft-lb applied torque. The car has been used for vintage road racing with essentially two long race weekends since prior replacement. Possible contributing factors: .005-.006" end play, .005" difference between inner bearing i.d. and axle o.d. allowing wheel "wobble", possible prior overtorquing of axle, axle was chilled in freezer in attempt to make assembly easier, used impact wrench to start makeup until progress too slow, and this was potentially the original axle. I expect to switch to new 280z axles and companion flanges (assuming that they are still available) as precaution against future failures. This info is just to keep adding to the cumulative knowledge in this posting.
  6. I recently installed a Sabelt GT-140 (Medium) FIA fiberglass race seat in my 240z. I selected this seat because it was narrow enough to fit in the space available (restricted even more than stock by the side door bar on the roll cage) and tall enough for the shoulder harness to mount properly. It fit with a little room to spare but is very narrow (seat is 13.5" wide). So, don't try this unless your hips are really this narrow. I have to push myself in to fit, but it is secure and comfortable for vintage racing and reasonably comfortable for casual street driving. See attached photos for installation and clearance. Stock mounting points were removed, and seat was mounted to lateral 1"x2" braces for strength. Note that the cam-lock harness shown would not work due to position of belt adjusters. A G-Force latch and link style harness works fine. Hope this info is helpful to others considering installing a fixed, race seat.
