  1. Not worth it? Come on it only has 105k miles on it. And they were probably all highway miles..... Plus the backseat is in excellent condition! (Maybe from the fact that besides a midget, no one would want to fit back there?) So if you can get past the fact that he won't ship it (too expensive to ship?), don't you dare ask for any more photos (pictures put unnecessary stress on the car I guess), It was well-maintained running-wise (wtf does that mean?) and the wonderfully low price of only $25,000 (that's like what 3 or 4 s30's?) then I say go for it.
  2. Hmmm....thoughts anyone? http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/1387383756.html
  3. Does any one know if the rear interior quarter panels from a 240 will fit into a 280? My right rear quarter panel is broken and I can't find anyone that makes repro. panels. Found them for the 240 and 280 2+2.
  4. One other thing, on Terry's blue z, just navigate down to where it says strut tower bracing and/or his cooler/intercooler set up. Another one is 240z radiator.
  5. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114534&highlight=strengthen+chassis http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/8277Radiator_support_1.JPG http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/8277Radiator_support_2.JPG http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2978513 http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/home?nt=r These sites cover strengthening the chassis (center and front) and removing the front core support and how to strengthen it. Reason I put these in is that front what I've been able to read the front engine frame rails are essentially arms that stick out. On the end of these 'arms' is a box (the radiator support/ front core support). The box helps to connect the two arms together and prevent horizontal and lateral movement (in addition to other strengthening factors as well). Thanks to all those whose knowledge and photos I've copy and pasted into this thread. Again the only reason for this thread is to try and put front end metal work (front engine frame rails and radiator support) into one spot.
  6. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=109864 He goes over putting in a cage in his s30. Pretty lengthy stuff, but well detailed with photos. Pages 2, 3, 4, and 5 are the ones that go over strengthening the engine compartment with tubing. Some interesting work done there but good pictures on triangulating the front strut and adding wheel well supports etc.
  7. http://alteredz.com/#Structural%20Modification%20-%20top%20of%20page This is the best link I've found that covers a variety of mods on a car. On the left hand side the link that says structural modifications shows how he modified the front frame rails to be able to hold up a v8. His original rails had rusted. He Includes a drawing on the specs to the square tubing, how it should be cut and set up etc. Perfect for modification to the rails or replacement.
  8. I have spent a week looking on different Z car sites on how to do front frame rail repairs and have found the most information on hybridz. Everytime I would search for front frame rails, I would always get the floor pan and the rails underneath that. What I wanted was to see how to repair the rails in the engine compartment. And so while I was at it, I looked at how to repair or replace the core support. I decided that it really shouldn't be this hard to try and find the needed links and support for front end work. So I compiled this thread with all the links I have found useful for that. I have not done this work myself, as I'm currently moving my car to my friends shop in the city to media blast the car and start the frame work (particularly the front frame rails and the front core support), so I can't offer any insight on difficulty or what to do/not to do. I will be posting on a different thread my progress on the car once I get started but for now this will be links to those who need them.
  9. Hey how much are they charging you for the sand blasting in chicago?
  10. I guess there's not too many Z-ers in the chicago-land area...
  11. Anybody know of any good body shops or referrals in the Chicago area? Namely around Aurora? I'm doing a body resto. (rust, dents etc.)
