  1. Hi Looks really good in the pics. let me know how the turbo works out im tring to put together a t3/t04e kit for my 280z right now. Noticed you are in greensboro, im down here in asheboro working for LNA Enterprises. we bulid scca road race cars.(one of our cars just took the national title in G Production, watch the race Dec. 19 @ noon) If you ever want a cage, engine, or some suspension work done give us a call at (336)-824-1605. love to come check out your car sometime. give me a halor @ (828)-489-6662.
  2. hi Im working on a 79 zx with a stock computer for an SCCA car. It runs with the stock ingnition module but doesnt when i wire up the MSD with the green and red wires. Got spark not injector pulse. So i talked to MSD and wired it up with the white wire the way they told me to and still nothing. From there I bought a tach adapter (#8920), still nothing. Then i wired a 10 ohm resister into the power feed(red wire) for the 8920. bam it runs. find out that the ECU is very picky about its RPM signal. but it will not rev past about 2000 RPMs. Anyone run into this before, or have a trick to get a MSD to run a stock 79 ECU. Thanks Justin
  3. Im curious as to what kind of performance piston options are avalible for the ka24. i found this on nissan parts The KA24E cylinder head has an uncut (surface to surface) thickness of 90mm/3.898 inches. Piston dome and combustion chamber must be modified to achieve desired compresion ratio.http://www.nissanparts.cc/catalog/?section=324 my question is would modifing these piston's tops be better than decking the head .080.
  4. ok had it running fine the other day but now it has a dead miss in it so I went through all the connections on the motor and tune-up greased them. that didn’t help at all the miss is still there. I threw the noid light back on to every injector plug and got a good light on all of them. then I threw a timing light on every plug wire and it flashed on every one except sometimes it will through a double flash almost like the spark inside the cap is splitting two ways from the rotor button to the cap. so I know I am getting decent spark and good fuel(unless my injectors have trash in them) but other than that could it be timing some how. does the msd advance the timing for you or does it still use the advance components inside the stock dizzy(vacuum and centrifugal). also is the tach out-put on the msd compatible with the stock tach input for a 76 ecu or do I need one of the msd tach/fuel adapters.
  5. hell yes this block is going to to help my cam out alot. i am only running 8.5:1 now. thanks
  6. i have aquired a f54 block for free and i think someone a long time ago may have gone through it and put high compression pistons in it. Does a stock '81 f54 comes with flat-top piston. i mic'ed the pistons and they average 3.386. havent measured stroke but the pistons come flush the the top of the block at tdc. the crank has the casting p30 on it and the rods look stock. assuming these are high compression pistons can anyone give a guess at what kind of compression i would be running if i throw a stock n42 head on it
  7. ok finally got it running. it ended up being the dropping resister for the injectors. but now its is not running right. the damn thing has no power and back-fires alot. sometimes it will run fine for a split sec while im driving it but then you can feel it go into the misfiring.i got around to putting on my msd 6aL, blaster coil, and accel superstock wires, so i know that it is getting good spark. i put a noid light on all of the injectors and reved up the motor and they all keep a good light going. i think it is either the pick-up in my dissy or my maf. either that or Im overlooking something please help!!!
  8. yeah im sure the injectors aren't bad the whole setup was running in my old car that got wreaked about 4 months ago. and i hooked a noid light to the harnesses and it didnt flash on any of them
  9. ok i am about to pull my hair out with this thing. I have got a 76 280z and i am tring to put a 78 wiring harness and ecu in to it. everything is in a hooked up but i am not getting any of the injectors to fire. i can put 12 v. to the feed wire for the injectors but the grounds are still not pulsing. everything on the spark side is working fine. i am getting a good healthy spark to each plug. has anyone done this and run into this problem, if please fill me in on what to do to get the damn thing running. took the car to a shop and told to just make it run. they fixed alot of my problems but not all of them. The engine starts to cut out as the car warms up. anything over 1/4 throttle going down the road and it cuts out but if you stay into the throlttle the engine will cut back in for a second the cut back off. sitting at a stop light or with the clutch pushed in going down the road the car will rev almost perfect. i have replaced the tps, the air flow meter, the fuel pump, the alternator, the coil, and the connectors for the injectors, the coolant temp sensor, and the thermotime switch. but i have not chaged the coolant themp or thermotime sensors themselfs(they are the only thing i dont have 3 or 4 of) could it be in on of these sensorsand if not there then where.
  10. Hi, Well it has been a while since i posted last because some @$$hole t-boned me ruining my chasis. But the good news is the everything in my 78 chasis is still good. I found a 76 chasis with no engine, ecu, and engine wiring harness. So i swaped the drivetrain and everything from my wreaked car into it. But i ran into some problems last night. I got everything in and it turned over but didnt start so looking around the four pin connector under the dash that is really close to the ecu when sparks suddenly flew. i though i had everything hooked up right but i found the wire that cause them and it was a white and red wire that comes from the fuel injection relay. when i secured the wire and tried to turn the key agian i found that nothing had power. upon further inspection i realized that the the 76 chasis has 5 wires that come of the ecu and the 78 wireing harness only has 4. what do i need to do to get the darn thing running. when i get back home i will try and post some pic of what i'm talking about. thanks
  11. Hi i tried to install a 6al on my 78 280z that i just bought and im having some problems getting the car to start after i hooked it up. We were getting a spark out of the coil but the car just wouldnt turn over. i know for the crane ignitions i need a trigger, do i also need a trigger for the msd. Thanks
  12. I have just finished my bw t5 swap in my 280z, only to figure out that 3rd and 4th syncro's are completely shot. i tryed to find a thread out this but i have a couple of questions that where not answered. Where would be the best place to buy a rebulid kit for one? and are there different kinds of kits that include different things such as gears and other things. also i have here that mustang internals work in the nissan case would this help at all or would it be to much trouble to mess with. any help would be awsome. thanks Justin
  13. if you dont already have one an r-200 diff does real nice and the t-5 drive shaft bolts up to it, which it wont with a r-180 .
  14. thanks for the help i got it in today. the B&M short throw is really nice i would recomend it. i had to buy on for an 83-00 mustang but it fits like a glove with alittle cutting on the transmission tunnel to get it to fit. thanks alot
  15. Hi i am doing a 83 zxt T-5 tranny swap in my 78 280z and i was wondering if i need to get a different tranny mount because when i tried putting the tranny in today the mount was about 2 inches back from the mount holders in the car. do i need to but a zxt mount or do i just need to jiggle it up in there. Also does anyone have a T-5 drive shaft they feel like selling. thanks
