  1. SEARCH!!!!!! seriously dude... The z31 isn't like the rest of the Z cars... if you cant search for the info, you probably aren't going to be able to handle the car... Its a fabricators car. You need to possess a brain to get **** out of it... As we told you on Z31p, let me give you the quick answers.... Fabricators car. Can be made better than a lot of other Nissan Chassis'. Lighter than the Z32, with just as much engine space. Accepts V8 swaps VERY WELL. It feels stable...Search Streetfighter (compound turbo 2jz Z31) and Benedict No, YOURE THE FIRST!!!!!!!! DOOOO EEEEET BRO!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously... search... There are at least 5 members that are either done/near completion with all the info you could need about swapping a Chevy v8 of either Gen 1, 2, or 3 into your Z31. Its not a honda... We do our own work. If it can go on a 240sx, it can go on the Z31
  2. its not that hard... If you would like, i believe i still have my mount templates, i could copy them for you if you would like (for a nominal fee of course)
  3. There is a thread on it already. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/2777-how-much-did-everyone-spend-on-their-v8-conversion/ I advise making the search function your new best friend.
  4. I'm sitting right at 7000$ for my LT1 Z31. Almost ready, i have about another 500$ worth of stuff to buy. Still need to finish off the fuel system. I need the lines, FPR, and all the fittings. Should be on the road soon.
  5. They had two versions of the LT1. The early 70's LT-1 and the one you're thinking about, the 93-whenever(i forgot) LT1.
  6. You can go to HD/Lowes and order almost any of the Rustoleum Colors in Quarts, and most in gallons. I work a the Special Service desk at Home Depot... I've ordered a lot before.
  7. Yea... I had to introduce my trans tunnel to Mr. Sledge for the TH350 because i wanted to sit the engine back as far a possible without cutting the firewall to retain a good weight balance. Your engine bay has so much stuff in it still lol. I took out everything not related to my needs. I still need to cut the harness out though. I just haven't felt like tracing all the wires. Probably next week. Damn you guys and your Gen 3/4 engines... I get to use a Gen2 LT1... Im not baller like you guys.
  8. Believe it when i see it. I've seen a lot of people saying they're going to do a swap, but less than 10% actually do it. Read through the threads posted, and you shouldn't need to ask too many more questions.
  9. Well, if you had taken the time to look for like... 10 seconds... you would've seen Zmechs thread with his Z45 build... Since you don't have that ability, i am going to say to not to the swap, because you more than likely wont be capable of completing it...
  10. *coughcoughtoldyasocoughcough* lol You could probably fit a big block in there if you really wanted to. Or, if you wanted to go auto, 350 w/ TH350 fits nicely.
  11. You still got that front end conversion I sold you a couple years ago?

  12. NVM on the manifold, I bought a CLEAN 88T today.

  13. Hey, if i buy thing 88T you want anything? has tokiko's, new brakes, clean red body, clean tan interior with a working digi dash..etc the entire driveline is mine though.

  14. Can you hang onto it, until I figure out which VG I'm buying?

  15. You have any z31 NA-T swap parts?

  16. I will buy a couple when they come in. The amount i buy will depend on if the S30 silhouette is in the background. I don't really have a S30...lol.
  17. Not to be a naysayer or anything, but Z31 owners are pretty DIY... At least the ones that peruse the forums. I say that because they/we have no choice BUT TO BE DIY... That said, Gen1/2 mounts for the Z31 arent exactly rocket science. I think you would get much more bite from an LS1...but then again, thats not terribly difficult either... Good luck.
  18. Hmmm i didnt know you could call and get a list of what is needed. I might have to call my local ref station to see if i can get one and make it so i dont need to make 10 trips down there. I mean, the ref station is at the college local to me, but i dont like driving through fullerton during classtime. too many popo's. Edit: after asking, i don't think you want to make a carb legal OBD2 swap. You will need the engine, trans, wiring harness, and all assoc. things from the donor car. Trans has to match the engine. You will also need the Evap system from the donor car along with the gas tank. The guy i was talking to said, in my case, dont use the 96 LT1, its too much work, use the 95 so you can have the obd1 and not worry about the evap system.
  19. I think if he is going to get it to fit, the exhaust manifolds will have to be custom. If you use the rear exits, with the extra size per side, its going to exit right on the steering shaft, or hit the rail. Damnit, now i want to see. Hurry up lol.
  20. No, this is question of the week: How do you plan to change the rear spark plugs...
  21. i kind of want to buy one just to have it as a table top ornament or something. I wonder if i could put that on a V8... lol
  22. Heh, the ONLY way i can see it fitting is if you turbo it, so you can run the front facing manifolds...but even then, i dont see them not hitting the rails on each side. Good luck.
  23. Good luck, but i am going to be honest, you might be able to get the motor to fit and everything, but i don't think you will be able to fit exhaust manifolds on. I believe that motor is like 6-7 inches wider than the SBC. So, 3-3.5 inches on each side. That will make exhaust running a very difficult task. Good luck, because im really curious.
  24. Should be more streetable because of the Fuel Injection rather than carb. Plus, i will be working mornings soon, and starting the carb will be a little more than irritating lol. As for gas mileage, it should be slightly better, but at the end of the day i still have a TH350 with a decent stall and 3.90 rear gears. I don't plan on seeing anything over 19mpg on the street. Probably will be more like 15 with the LT1. I'm hoping that with a good tune and a 100 shot that i should be able to run a 7.6-7.9 in the 1/8 in my Z. And, since its out of a camaro, it already has aluminum heads, a light cam, roller rockers, and mild headwork, so i should save some weight upfront. Plus, since its fuel injected and out of a 96, i might even be able to get it Bar'd. I am going to have to call and see.
  25. I am going to be pulling the SBC in the next couple of days, and replacing it with a LT-1 with a mild cam and 1.6 rollers. Here's a vid of the engine im picking up in 2 weeks. http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2eq6r9g&s=6
