  1. hey grumpy, i have a problem with my 350swap. The engine is a GM crate 350 and i have tried both a quadrajet, and a holley650 to no avail. The car idles a little high in park(around 1200, and there is a video in my thread in this forum) but when i put it into drive(or reverse) it will die, or it will bog really low, like 550rpm and kind of chug then die. Would that be timing, or do i have something hooked up wrong. Thanks.
  2. Radiator Cap. Happened to my S10...i was more than irritated to find that was the culprit.
  3. So true. Just remember to keep all your reciepts and packaging so you can take stuff back. I didnt, but luckily the autozone people know me now because ive been in so often. I have to return a good couple hundred dollars in stuff, and exhchange some things b/c of unforseen hickups.(such as having to switch to a short water pump setup to move my alt. so i can use my powersteer line.)
  4. ive been having this problem too...Im using Opera.
  5. Oh yes hoov, the car will be street driven. and Mongo, my friend doesnt know. It came in his el camino, and when i fired it up i just kind of looked at him and was like "uhhh...you didnt tell me this thing had a mild cam in it..." I dont like not knowing, so after my heads get here im going to take it out and see... But it definately doesnt sound stock, and would explain what it dyno'd when he told me.
  6. yea, but its the nickle/dime ♥♥♥♥ that gets you... I think i have around 1500 in my 350 swap into my Z31...most of it was all the little stuff too...it freaking adds up
  7. So...I just started my 88 300zx w/ a SBC swap for the first time. I just wanted to post it here b/c i got a lot of my swap stuff from things posted on this site. Thanks Alf for helping me w/ some of your suggestions. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=60095389 Its not done, i still have to finish the electrical and clean up the engine bay and put the body parts back on. But, at least its running. I know my post count is low, but ive been lurking since around 2007 and i joined this year b/c i was going to be swapping my car. Thanks for the info guys.
  8. Really...with the SBC the trouble side is the driver side. The easy side for me is the passenger. That oil pan looks huge. Mine isnt nearly that deep. Good luck with everything.
  9. My GF makes the same remarks about my car... Sounds good.
  10. i dont know about your pan, but the pan on my SBC is as low as the engine can possibly sit, and the pan doesnt sit below the crossmember. Granted its a SBC 350 but still. Its lookin good though. The exhaust has a ton of room...UNTIL...you have to go around the steering column.
