Another quick question. What exactly makes the S30 so aerodynamically crappy other than the front end???

This are the number of the McLaren F1 Final gear 2.37:1 1st Gear Ratio 3.23:1 2nd Gear Ratio 2.19:1 3rd Gear Ratio 1.71:1 4th Gear Ratio 1.39:1 5th Gear Ratio 1.16:1 6th Gear Ratio 0.93:1 Power: 627 bhp @ 7400 rpm and 479 lb/ft from 4000-7000 rpm How come the Mclaren F1 can do 0-60 in 3.2 sec with a 2.37:1 rear??? So where can i get a 3.15 LSD R200??? The thing about the aerodynamics will be pretty hard. I agree that the hardest part will be getting the car to be as aerodynamical as possible and keep it looking as stock as possible without changing the 240's beautiful body so much . Any suggestions other than a G-nose (i don't like it)???

Well like I said before, I know it's not easy nor cheap...but it can be done. One of my objectives is to keep as much as the original 240z shape as possible. I know that i got to do something radical to that front end...otherwise i'll end up on space mission to the moon . Why 240 mph and not the more common 200mph, well because of what i stated previoulsly one of my inspirations is the McLaren F1 which achieved 391 KPH or 240+ mph. Also 240z...240 mph top speed . Thanks a lot John for the info!! Yes I know it it's a really difficult challenge...but it can be done! Nothing is impossible. When you fallow the rules is when you limit yourself. I know it doesn't sound like i'm serious about it but i really am. This is just a challenge to myself, to see the limits of my brain and creativity. It might take A LOT more effort, time and money that what i expect at this moment. Like i said i have no significant mechanical experience but that's why I plan on STARTING the project 5 years from now. I'll try to get as much knowledge as possible to make it happen. I would like for you guys to give me some advise on how to start on the road of automotive technology, what school to go to what books to read, what classes to take etc. Thanks for your support. ---Oh, I forgot about the driver...mmm....who should it be???

Hello Guys: I would like to hear you guy's opinion, comments or advice on a craZy project. My goal is to create a 240mph streetable Datsun 240z without going overboard on the money issue. Here are the plans and ideas I got so far: When: Project might start 5 years from now. Why: Why not? Budget: $30,000-45,000 Engine: SBC chevy, NA prefered(700 bhp aprox.) Trans: Tricked out T-56?? Rear End: I have no clue Body: Costume Wide body, reinforced body, etc. Suspension: Got to do some research Brakes: Racing Kit from Arizona Z car Hi performance parts?? Rules: Has to run on pump gas, be streetable (I know is not gonna be a Cadillac ride), stay away from being in debt with all the banks in town . Primary Use: Street/Track 8) Inspiration: McLaren F1, Corvette Sledgehammer. Prior mechanical experience: NONE Need: A new brain, more knowledge that i can digest, lots of experience and MONEY, psychiatric appointment. Help: Books, Hybrid Z site , and people around me, even my cat. Is it possible?: YES! Pride: Be able to kick Ferrari owner's A$$es, (Enzo). What do you guys think about this idea, any suggestions, comments, ideas, references....or anything else? Yeah I know is kind of a stupid idea, but for me is a challenge. 8)

I checked the U-joints and they are fine. Nothing lose. I also believe that the TC rods are tight....i got to check them again. Any other ideas?? Thanks for the help!

Hello guys, I got a quick question for you. Here is my ploblem. My car is making a pretty loud "pop" metalic noise when driving & turning eighter direction, and i'm able to feel it through the floor pans. Is feels like someone is hitting somenting with a hammer. The thing is that it does not make the noise all the time. It makes the noise more often if i'm driving slow (20-30 mph) and when passing over a bump or a hole on the street. So far i visually inspected the suspencion and steering components and i don't see anything broken or out of place. When the car is parked i bouce the suspencion up and down, front to back, side to side and I hear nothing. Recently I got all of the bushings replaced with polyurethane ones, got new shocks, springs, strutbars. All this was done before that sound apeared. I'm just starting to work on cars so I have no clue of what it could be? I you guys could help me i would really appreciate it. Thanks. PS My car is a '73 240z.

Hello deadshki: Here I got a name of a book that might help you understand more about chassis, automotive and a whole bunch of stuff. It's a really good book, easy to follow. The book is: ---Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams.--- You could also search for books on how to build Hot Rods...they explain how to build your own car from scratch. I hope this helps.

Hello guys! I'm a new person in the automotive world and i got a quick question for you. My tachometer goes crazy while i'm driving...the problem is that it starts to mark high revs, even tough the engine is still running at a normal speed. It increses the revs more and more the more I drive it. This happens while cruising and while the engine is on idle. One thing that i noticed is that it only does it when is really hot outside (ugly San Antonio weather ) So what could be causing this? and what can I do to fix it? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you for your time. By the way my car is a 1973 240z, it has headers and 1972 carbs.

Hello guys: I just got a quick question? How come a Honda inline four from an S2000 is able to produce 250hp being that it's only a 2 liter engine and how come a '98 Camaro Z28 produce only 300hp if it's a 5.7 liter engine... that's a big difference in diplacement. I just started learning about cars and that's one of my big questions. I know doesn't really have much to do with the Z cars but the thing is that nobody has been able to answer my question...I'm just wondering. Thanks for the help!
