Good news on the tach. I didn't want another project trying to figure out how to get the tach to work too.
So do I understand correctly that most guys are eliminating the cooling lines to the throttle body?

I've been reading through the MS threads and read where there can be problems with getting the factory tach to work, at least when using a different ignition system like EDIS. Can someone confirm if there any problems with getting the factory tach to work when using the stock turbo dizzy with MS 1 or MS 2.
I've been on the fence on which MS to purchase, the cost difference is pretty minimal and it seems like MS2 is becoming widely used now. My main concern has been with reading about some guys having stability issues with the units and needing to occasionaly reload software when the system hickups, certainly not very ideal for a driver. Can this be due to a grounding issue or wires not shielded properly?
Also is there any reason you can not or should not use a stock idle Valve with MS 1 or 2?

Just search for the pull-a-part or pick-a-part yards where you remove the parts.

I'm looking to buy a Turbo Dizzy shaft from a '82-'83 engine, please PM me, thanks.

If one of your short blocks is decent, I would just have a head rebuilt for about $250 instead of screwing around with another used motor.

No, you need to use a weld through primer in your weld areas then POR or epoxy prime everything else to prevent future rust issues. Don't forget the seam sealer too.

Wow, lots of good points to consider. I do like the idea of a clean install with one cable like Rolling Parts pointed out. Now you got me thinking about EDIS too, sounds like another project to figure out, not to mention do I stick with the proven and stable MS-1 PCBV3 w/ MSnSE or make the jump to the newer MSII?

Thanks 'trip', I'll keep it in mind, still looking for an "O" ring rail.

Are they the same as a 77 280 if so I should have an extra one. I'll take a pic of it. Shoot me an email and I'll send it later tonight.

I don't think you can go wrong with modern motorsports.

Thanks Quin, I should have clarified that I'm looking for a rail to fit the N42 manifold and 440cc injectors, Palnet, JSK etc.
-
Anyone have a fuel rail they have decided not to use that fits the Turbo Supra injectors?

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate on the subject further Paul, and adding the point about the BMEP.

10:1 is pretty low once you figure out that the resulting dynamic compression with that cam will be something in the 6:1 range. Triples or doubles doesn't change that fact, that cam would do much better with 12:1 or 13:1 with those duration numbers but then you'd be running race fuel, its an all out track cam. I wouldn't use anything with more than 240 @.050" with 10:1 compression.

That thing is huge, not sure it would even lope with 290@.050" duration, it certainly won't make any low end torque which you may want with autocrossing. I would think a 280 or 290 with something like 240-245 degrees at .050" would be much more driveable and responsive, just my 2 cents.

Looking to buy a headliner in very good condition to fit a '77 280z, preferably in the NW due to shipping size.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Besides the obvious need for the fuel pump relay, what other circuits are you guys using the relay board for, electric fans etc?
-
I'm curious for those who are running MS-1 PCBV3, MS-N-Se or similar in a 280 L28ET conversion, are there any pros or cons to wiring the car using the relay board and associated wiring vs using the MS wiring harness? I'm thinking for ease of installation that just the wire harness would be the way to go.

I'm hoping zcarnut is still around and can elaborate on the following statement he made:
There is no such thing as a single “1980-84" Maxima bracket. There was an 1981 bracket (which you can use with the 1979-81 280ZX rear caliper) and a 1982-83 bracket (which you use with the 1982-83 280ZX rear caliper). The 1984 Maxima rear brackets were welded on.
My question is the welded '84 bracket the same as the '82-83 bracket (pn 44155-04S10) or is it just a waste of time trying to use the '84 bracket. I'd like to do the same conversion as zcarnut posted in the sticky with 200SX calipers and 280zx rotors using the 44155-04S10 bracket or is there another combination that must be used with the'84 welded bracket?
Thanks for all your help.

Great pics, I like the aggressive stance that front end gives the car, looks especially good with the flares.
