Because now I’m not even attempting to start at all. It’s not acting the same now. Totally got ahead of myself with the troubleshooting and forgot to do the starting fluid today I will read that section fully now

76 280z. Went through all the steps in the FI BIBLE.
everything checks out until I get to here .
Which is weird. I checked wiring and then also manually checked he air regulator and it’s firing the fuel pump and the injectors as it should. I moved on with my steps and everything. Checked out leading me to a bad ecu. Several days ago I the car was trying to start and backfiring. Now I have nothing but a cranking engine.
I have fuel and spark. I tested the power relays for a click and they do that as well (one of them).
please help

I heard no bubbles. Never used starting fluid
edit. Used starting fluid today. Started sputtered and backfired and then stalled

Don't make it complicated. People run out of gas all the time. It might not even be your problem. Run the pump as described elsewhere and listen for bubbles n the tank. When the bubbles stop the lines are full. Then use starting fluid to get it started.
I primed the lines for 10/20 seconds. Should it be a lot longer then that ?

The 1976 280Z doesn't have the priming feature. It came on the later year 280ZX's. And often doesn't work, after all of these years.
Take the small wire off of the solenoid and turn the key to Start. The pump will run but the engine won't turn over. It's described in the Engine Fuel chapter of the FSM.
Small wire off the starter solenoid ? And do you have a link for FSM?

Anyone ?

I tried doing a search with no clear cut answer. Does anyone have a write up on how to purge the fuel lines in order to remedy a no start issue from empty tank? I want to try this before I start changing pumps and filters. 1976 280z
thanks

Filling the tank higher than the pump level should also do a good job priming it.
How high do you suppose that is. Thanks a lot guys !

YES ran before I bought it and all day before the tow

What’s up guys . Short and simple. Got my car delivered to me today 76 280z. I know the filter in the back near the gas tank needed to be changed along with a leaking fuel line.
Before delievery the car ran all day.
Car was dollied to me (not flatbedded) like I thought (2 hours). When I got the car it started on half a crank, ran rough for 20-30 seconds and then stalled. Checked / had no fuel. Filled 2 gallons and now I have a no start issue. Just cranking. And an occasional sputter like it wants to start
What do i do! ?

Pretty sure that I've read a few accounts of sloppy fit for the R200 axles in the OBX diff. Something to consider.
The guy that got MFactory to produce a diff apparently put a pretty good product together. Don't know if they're still available or not. Looked better than OBX though.

Please update this thread when you get it bolted up. I’m planning in advance for my swap. Thank you
Thank you guy for the responses I was looking for the cheapest route to go for my ls swap. THe rear is my biggest obstacle and I don’t want to weld

Posted His in another section just not sure where it would get more traffic
How’s it going brand new to the Z community looking to do a ls swap on my 76 280. I was looking into the fi tech retrofit drop in unit. But I was wondering if anyone outfitted an aftermarket pump with their intank assembly and added a hydramat for fuel starvation issues. Rather not change the tank out or add a surge tank any help would be great
