  1. Well, why narrow the subframe? Just use the S13 subframe. I used it because it is exactly the right width for me. Not sure where maichor got his info from, but Z32 uprights bolt right to the s13 LCA and other links. That's how mine is setup. And I dont see any advantage of the s14/z32 arms over the S13, if anything the S13's stock RUCA is stronger because it goes around both sides of the shock vs the S14 which goes around one side. Other than that, the arms are identical, and the designs of the cradles are all the same, with slight width and mounting location differences. Especially since the A/M arms are so cheap, most will be upgraded anyways. I did have to put a small notch in my unibody to make the forward mount fit, and as far as other mods, that's just too much to talk about, but lets say that I just ditched my high hp/no torque sr20 setup and am almost done my new vg33e/t setup.
  2. I am in no way a suspension expert, but I have swapped the 240sx IRS into my z31. This suspension is loosely based on a "double wishbone" setup. Most of the pros and cons have already been discussed, and the debate of multi-link vs semi-trailing will go on forever. But from personal experience, everyday street driving as well as the occasional trip to the strip, it is a world of difference. It really feels like a different car in a good way. That was before I replaced the cradle bushings with solid aluminum - the best susp mod i've evar done. And the car doesnt take a poop every time I shift! But seriosly, weight wise, the cradle is heavy, but so are those huge control arms they replaced, and also, i'd bet the short-nose is lighter than the long-nose. This rear suspension design has been used on every rear-drive nissan 89 and newer, and I've never heard and bad reviews on it, so it must be doing something right.
  3. Well if you're talking about replacing the vg with the vq, what's the point? both are v6's with 4 main bearings unless I'm missing something. Have you ever seen the main bearing structure on a vg? It's insane, cast iron block with all 4 main caps cast into a one peice girdle(vg30et). As far as v6 main bearings go, I dont think they get any better. If it really concerns you, get an I6 with 7 mains.
  4. It wont work in an NA unless you get a turbo xmember and turbo motor mounts. Or make custom headers with NA xmember and mounts.
  5. no - the manifolds wont fit into a pathfinder/truck chassis, but they DO bolt on, I just bolted my z31 manifolds to my '98 vg33 a few weeks ago.
  6. cant post attachments, but here's a pic of my srz31 http://www.geocities.com/fas_racing/kevin.jpg that catch can has been fixed, and i'm back to the stock IM right now. I also just finished a 240sx rear subframe swap with alum bushings and z32 alum uprights and brakes.
  7. not sure on s30 track width, but I know from experience that s13 and z31 are +/- .5" disc to disc.
  8. That's awesome - seems this is getting more popular. I just did a similar swap on my 87. Are you still using the 240sx knuckles or did you switch to the z32 stuff? http://www.300zxforums.com/showthread.php?t=55042
  9. Not to argue, just want to make sure the info out there is correct - SR has sleeves. I own 2 of them, rebuilt one, and have looked into this thouroghly - SR and all other nissan alum motors have sleeves. Actually, the only motor my engine machinist has ever seen that doesnt is honda I4's. But trust me, I'd put my car and house on the fact that SR's are sleeved.
  10. big IC that doesnt leak, lighter seats (driver's seat weighs over 100lbs) and a posi rear end with better gears...maybe you guys can help me out with this. I love nissan for their parts interchangability, and I know almost every rear-drive nissan has the r200 diff, so I want to replace my 3.7:1 open with something like the 4.08:1 lsd from a 240sx, but dont know if the side gears are the same. Are there any other possible options??
  11. wow... first time i've posted this and not gotten flamed for swapping out the v6 for a little 4-banger. I like this board already
  12. ya - I would but the reason I havent yet is that I dont have excel or much else for that matter on my computer since I am just recovering frm a crash. I'll post one up when I get to it if you want. I've been wanting to do this for a while, the SDS can be a pain to visualize sometimes.
  13. havent tried it yet, but you could set up a spreadsheet like excel or something to whip out a graph once you've entered your values.
  14. I thought i'd share - these are some pics of my sr20/z31 concotion. Engine management is sds em4f. Block is bored with forged weisco pistons, o-ringed with copper head gasket. Otherwise stock engine. Manifold is JGS custom log-style, turbo is t3/t04e 60mm. Havent dynoed yet, but my best at the track so far is 13.1@108, also for mph I pulled a 13.5@112. These all with 2.2 or worse 60 foots, pump gas, street tires and 16# of boost. http://www.user.dccnet.com/jfast/300-1.jpg http://www.user.dccnet.com/jfast/300-2.jpg http://www.user.dccnet.com/jfast/300-3.jpg http://www.user.dccnet.com/jfast/300-4.jpg
