  1. hey, i just want to be sure a 76 hood [non vented] will fit a 77 body the same. Any body know? Thanks Chris
  2. Hey, true that on the table condition issue. There is a couple guys on ebay that I`ve had good luck with but he`s in so cal shipping would kill ya. If you do aluminum allot it pays to get cutters designed for alum. only get a indexable cutter with high shear cutters you will achieve a almost mirror finish even at the slower speeds of manual mills. Then some of them if you switch to steel you just change the insert type. If you chip a tip ,most of them have at least 2 sides to use no sharpening neede or even removing the holder . They are more money initially but really save time...and time IS money right?!
  3. Hey John, As a waterjet and cnc milling co. i used to cut allot of cf for air and space craft. But,I used to get these "inventors" come to my shop and pretty much want all cad and special jigs and set-up fees to be waived because we were "gonna be making 1000`s of these parts" and they just didn`t have the startup capitol for that. My response them ,in as kind of a voice as possible was,"Dude, if I had 5 of you a week come in I would go broke!" Incidently, we never once made 1000`s. I don`t think a grand is a bad price to make a mold, but I was thinking, maybe a service where they send you their dash and you vacuum bag the cf to the original dash after cracks are smoothed out of course. is that possible? I doing some custom work on my dash that the Z world hasn`t seen yet but not ready to reveal yet. Keep pushin`the envelope and it will happen! Chris
  4. i went ahead and just broke it off the rest of the way today and noticed most of the crack was already dirty so a previous owner must have somehow cracked it.Sorry guys I`v e never seen that happen yet . Once I redrilled a hole in the remainder of the tab and re connected it,shazaam! That motor jumped out of there! Man, I `m sorry for buggin` you guys over somethin` that trivial,it was dark and i could`nt really see it that well.
  5. Hey there, Your real problem here is quantity. Most cnc guys [plasma ,waterjet, laser] are going to charge a minimum setup and cut charge. This could be 40-100 bucks. They have to convert your concept to a cad program[this is a simple one] stop there production set up your material and cut 1 pc. For 1 probally at least 40.00 + material .if you needed 200qty + probally 3.00 bucks ea. I would waterjet though its a much cleaner cut. I don`t know the use so I can`t advise material
  6. YA ! I triple checked it all, mounts ,and everything hooked to the engine and tranny.Thats the same one that tore on me.Very strange it bent with practically no force on it.This pic is crazy man,you pulled the engine using only that 1 tab? I`ll get it done no problem ,I`ve just never seen this happen. This is my 1st rice grinder!
  7. thanks for your quick response. I did use that one but as I began to attempt to lift the motor the tab just began to rip emmediately...weird! I guess I wil need to just fab up a stronger one !
  8. This sounds really stupid but I cant locate more than 1[rear of engine] lifting tab on my motor! the one I thought was the other [leftfront of valve cover] wasn`t strong enough and started tearing when some pressure was added to it. any wisdom on this? Thanks ,Chris
  9. Hi Logan, I think accents like the ones in the higher end BMW`s sill plates and console accents. dash boards would be cool but a little bit over kill. Now if you designed it with some maybe .100" deep pockets. I have done some of this for the Escalades and CTS Cadillacs we integrated wood ,chrome and carbon fiber into the designs and they came out freakin` sick! I would love to talk more with you guys in a private forum. I didn`t know they did allot of this in Precott. I worked with Burt Ratan on Space Ship 1 and her mother ship also many many other projects of his. Scaled Composites was a customer of mine for years.I had a abrasive waterjet and cnc machining company until recently I had to close. Regards,Chris
  10. 3 words...tires,tires,tires! you can`t expect a different outcome with that kind of H.P. Sooner or later it`s gonna get you! I hope this can serve us all to think safety too. Its money well spent. My friend you got lucky
  11. HI , I`m new to the Z ownership but have a lot of great memories with one as a friend owned a `78 that was a vette killer in stock form.My comment to the LS coming on strong is the Hp you recieve [400+] for only 30lbs of weight gain, and the way it sits it gives a lower more even center of gravity for handling. No suspension changes needed maybe bumping up to the R200 diff. so bang for the buck is very good and the computerized injection is pretty fuel effecient for the power and has great street manners. if you change altitude allot where you live careberetors can be a pain and not very efficient My 2 cents,Chris
  12. Janaka, thanks for the info on the LS-1 F-body. Any particular year work better? Were talking Gm F-bodys like trans am, camaro ? Then just modify the fuel neck right?
  13. Whats so funny?!Did I miss something? I`m serious you can`t find one anywhere and the freakin`junk yards have to drill holes in the ones the have! I saw one place but he wanted over $500.00 for it...are you kiddin` me!
  14. I saw some beautifully done and very tastfull fender flares on mr. corzettes Z car. Does anyone sell them[ not the cheezy ones] these were very subtle but allowed for 17" x 8" wheels that tucked in nicely. Thanks. another thing, whats the deal with nobody selling aftermarket gas tanks?
