Throttle body vacuum lines routing
Daniel13brx7 replied to Daniel13brx7's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
well, i figured it out. That vacuum hose goes to the charcoal canister upper port. but that ports broken on canister. So i either have to replace it or come up with a repair for it. -
Hi guys, I just purchased an 82 turbo auto 280zx. I'm replacing the vacuum lines and I found this mystery hose that's attached to the bottom of the throttle body and ends next to the power steering reservoir. Does anyone know what it's supposed to be connected too?

out of ideas! car wont start 81 280zx turbo
Daniel13brx7 replied to Daniel13brx7's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
I noticed with the bad afm's plugged in the car would run w/o power to the pump. Right now with this working afm if i disconnect the power to the fuel pump it only runs for a few seconds and then the motor just turns off. -

You guys are not going to beleive it. It was the dumb afm! I picked up a third unit just out of curiousity. Plugged it in and bam. Started right up. Ive now gone through 2 afm. What could be making them go bad? -
Anyone in the san fernando valley or socal area have a stock 280zx lower valace?

im disconnecting the power to the fuel pump in the hatch area. By unplugging a 2 wire clip. I normally do this as a theft deterrent. If my car tries to get stolen it wouldnt go anywhere since it would only run for a few seconds. -

Hmm... Which one of the two sensors on the therstat housing is the temp sensor? i let the car run yesyerday gor about 15 mins idling normally with the pump unplugged. Then i slowly began to rev the motor and got it up to 5000 before it cut out abit. Plugged in the pump while it was still idling and instant death again. One time i managed to keep the car running after i plugged in the pump but as soon as i touched the throttle again just instant flood. Sadly i dont have an extra ecu or know anyone around that can lend me one just to rule it out. -
So today i drove to work in the morning and the car ran fine. When i was going to leave work the car wouldnt start. It would crank over really fast and all i would smell is fuel. I encountered this problem a while back with an old afm that the flap would stay stick open. Soi check the flap everything is fine. I check for spark, got it. Fuel for sure i was getting. What i find very odd is that if i disconnect the fuel pump the car starts and idles. If i rev slowly it still stays on. As soon as i plug the fuel pump back on it floods and turns off. My guess the afm sending a full throttle signal to the injectors? I tired 2 different afm`s now. Neither helped to start the car. Could it be the CAS? But i doubt it since the car runs w/o power to the fuel pump. Any ideas guys? Should i try a third afm before i open a can of worms and rule out other things that might be the problem?

My cars not slammed. Its at a decent ride height for me daily driving it in the jacked up streets of LA. And my front lip just so you know was the work of some hater in Valenica that kicked it in. How do i know? his big ass foot print was on the piece that was barely dangling on LOL I am thinking about some other wheels already tho.

I Too share the Love for the Less wanted ZX Breed. If people only gave it a chance they could see how awesome the car really is. Only problem i see is that most of the people i see on the street driving a zx are old and the car is beat to a pulp! Give to the right set of hands the car is amazing! PurepontiacKid, your Stance is Awesome! Ive yet to see another slammed ZX! Anyways here's the Love of my present Life Zoe! =D

280ZX ---> S13 front/M30 rear?

So ive had my car for about a year and a half now. I recently was going to sell my car but had a change of heart. Love my car too much! Thanks to Yasin and Hughdogz. They are a big inspiration for working on my car. Seeing the devotion they have for the ZX Platform as much as I do just makes me want to do better. Everywhere i go people and friends always tell me. Damn i didnt know the ZX could look like that. It makes me feel really good about my car. Im not going to lie i love the Z platform as well and have owned one. But i prefer the bigger sexy curves of the ZX. Anyways, Im always doing something to my car and just thought id share with my fellow Hybrid members. So with out further due, id like to present my project Zoe! This is what Zoe looked like when i first pick her up. One of the first things i did to the car, obviously after regular maintenence was install some Tinted Headlight covers. I also fabbed up a strut brace for the rear of the car from some left over parts I had laying around at the shop. You might notice the base for it is a 3 inch exhaust flange. With very minor trimming to one hole, the flange fits the bolt pattern of the rear bolts perfectly. I love purple and i have incorporated the color into many things. The strut brace is one of them. Except This felt like too much purple. So I kept a little Purple and Threw some white on it. I was pretty happy for the finished product. As for the strut brace being really effecient. I cant be 100% sure, it does feel like it tighten things up a bit. If you have never used Mothers polish. Do yourself a favor and use it! it works AMAZING!!! i got a little crazy and polished so many things. hahaha. The centerline wheels before i discovered mothers... After I found out about how good mothers worked... Then i polished my new fuel filter Anyways ill post up some more stuff later

Daniel13brx7 replied to Daniel13brx7's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Hmmm... interesting! You know one thing i do notice is that every single time i get out of my car i get Zapped! As soon as i touch the body/chasis anything metal. ZAP! Sometimes its mild, sometimes its really strong. Ive seen the blue spark at night. i wonder if i dont have enough grounds then? -

That does make sense actually! I was thinking something along those lines or possibly moisture trapt in there somehow. Anyways the megasquirt will be going in soon. So i wont have to be dealing with all of this ever again i hope. Wolfman dlc, Do you have your afm cap open? as in not sealed back together? -

280zxt Idle acting up/Stalling

I replaced the Fuel filter 2 months ago, Ill check the fuel pressure this weekend. Oddly enough the car has been running fine so far again. ?_? -
So ive been searching around the forum to see if anyone else has had the problem my car has recently began to annoy me with. So far no luck at all. So this is the issue im having... About 3 weeks ago while i was driving on the freeway. Cruising at 65@ about 2800 to 3000 rpm's. Out of nowhere the car began to lose power, The rpm's began to fall even tho my foot had the same pressure on the gas. I look over at my A/F ratio's and the car is leaning out. While this is happening I look at my rear view mirror and the car is puffing out a light smoke screen. All Black, and the smell was horrible! The only thing i can reference the smell to is Burning hair mixed with ammonia. I had to drive the car above 4000 rpms for it to stay on. I get off the freeway and checked everything out. The plugs looked pretty bad so i replaced them on the spot. Started the car and the problem was gone. Now this past weekend the exact same thing happen while i was stuck in traffic on the freeway. The idle began to drop really low 200 to 300 rpms. It would go down low enough for all the dash lights to turn on as if the car had stalled. At which point the car did stall on me 3 times. I had to keep the motor alive by giving it gas and that smell came back. I wonder what people next to me where thinking? Im sitting there in parking lot traffic not moving but revving my motor at 3k rpms just so that it stops stalling out. So anyways I get off and check everything out and this time the plugs where fine. So i start checking for vacuum leaks. Everything is fine. The A/F ratio was right on mark not leaning out or anything. Fuel filter is brand new, Spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor all new as well. So im sitting there clueless this time. I start the car again and its idling fine. But as soon as i would give it gas, it would stumble first and then rev up. Then right after it would rev up the motor would die or the rpms would dip really low and the engine would barely stay turned on. This morning however everything was fine again. No idle issues, no stalling, no funny smells. The only thing i can possibly think of thats maybe going bad is the AFM? Does anyone know the symptoms of a bad afm?
