  1. Yo, I have an R200LN on my 280z im swapping a vq37 into it. I haven't opened it up to see what the ratio is, or the condition. Either way I would like to rebuild it, or swap it out all together. what rebuild kit would you recommend and if you can attach a link. I've never rebuilt a diff so any tech sheets/link into rebuilding a R200 floating around?
  2. We tried different ways to use the u joint, it kept binding... maybe user error lol we ended up chopping the time cover 😅😅😅😅 IMG_6399.MP4
  3. @Sanchez nope we are still trying to figure it out, we started focusing on other stuff on the car to give us a break from the steering shaft, but its getting old having to manually turn the wheels on the car lol... I reached out to Doug from Z fever to see if he can give me some pointers, hoping to hear back soon.
  4. @Sanchez @74_5.0L_Z ahh!! I see what you guys are talking about, we rolled the rack towards the front of the car. We will try rolling it toward the firewall to try and direct the shaft from the bottom of the time cover🤔🤔🤔🤔 I’ll update!
  5. We installed manifolds and it doesn’t seem to have a huge issue, as long as we angel it right😅 none-less the biggest issue is the hard steering.
  6. What did you do for your steering shaft? Teach me! I have an issue with binding because of the angles, ive been told to cut into the time cover....
  7. Hey guys, i’m in the middle of swapping my vq37 into my 280z. we’ve stumbled onto a very important issue 😅 Steering shaft- we have added a few U joints and heim joints to support the rack. the angles aren’t right a lot of binding, we have tried different approaches but we end up with binding and terrible steering. I’ve talked to a few people on social media that have done this swap and i’ve been told to cut into my time chain cover...... Some one help me😭😭😭😭😭 The Pinion sticks out from the rack and the joint that connects to the rack hits the timing cover (that’s where we would like to cut) we removed the compressor from the block to allow us some room to work with.
  8. Well i have already cut the subframe no backing down now😂 although eventually i would need to look into an upgrade or swap my front subframe
  9. @Neverdone Amazing!!! this is exactly what I needed. Thank you🙏🏽
  10. A plate on the underside to support the sub has been my initial idea since I learned I had to cut. Im supporting the engine with McKinney motor/trans mounts I purchased. Now im thinking I should add a rectangle tubing instead of a plate... ive never had to cut into a sub so im not sure what im getting my self into 😅
  11. I fit my VQ37 in this weekend, had to do some excessive cutting into my front subframe to allow the bottom of the engine/oil pan to squeeze in, without compromising the positioning of the rack and pinion. i’ve been thinking of just welding a 16g plate going across the bottom of the sub and welding it... suggestions
  12. In a pickle here, I am half way into installing my new vq engine into my z. I am still in the blue printing stage of what to keep and what to delete. My biggest conflict at this moment is my dash, battling to keep my original dash or modifying the 370z dash to fit. Now I bought a complete 370z that was totaled to get my engine. stock dash is badly beaten I would need to either get a cover and get it redone, buy new gauges....going to cost me a kidney Going with the 370z dash will allow me to plug and play the cluster/gauges/radio etc... cheaper... Anyone ever mount a 370z dash into a Datsun? if so drop some pics / pointers. 1976 dastsun 280z donor car: 2017 370z 6 speed
