  1. Why not just buy a new aluminum flywheel for under $300? The stock pressure plate will work just fine with the aluminum flywheel. I bought a fidanza and like it very much.
  2. I second the drill out the hole and retap. That is what I did. I used an existing bolt and slid it through a drill bit chart and selected a drill bit that was 2 sizes smaller and drilled the head and retaped it. I believe I tapped it with a SAE tap becasue I didn't have any metric taps at the time and wanted to get the job done. Just make sure that you drill the bolt in the center and not too deep!
  3. put on a new negative cable and go from there. Also make sure your battery is up to par and still has over 12 volts.
  4. Hi, I would just find a correct stock tank that is in nice shape install it and call it a day. Will save you money and trouble and if you find one out west it may be as good as new.
  5. There is a comyany called painless wiring if you might want to go that route?
  6. Hi, I have a 260z with hitachi flat top carbs and I put on round top SU carbs and kept the 260z intake. I had to modify the linkage but your swap will be pretty easy I think. I got rid of all my emission stuff as well as the water that runs through the intake as well as the idle compensator with no ill effects. I can send you some photos if you like. I no longer have the carbon canister or egr hooked up and swaped out an early non egr top piece to bypass it altogether. I ran an exhaust manifold that had the heat yubes removed and ends plugged.
  7. Hi, I have electronic distributor and believe vac advance is working properly.
  8. Hi, I am going to repalce one out of two ujoints on my 260z drivesahft and want to know if I should get it balanced afterwards or can I just put the u joint on and put itrhe driveshaft back into the car?
  9. Hi, anyone runs 15" konig wheels on your Z and if so how do you like them on the 14" wheel platform? Any special tire size that is recommend with 15" wheels as to not rub on the front fenders?
  10. Hi, having trouble getting my 260z to get to redline and wanted to know if others have this problem. I have an aluminum flywheel and believe she is timed correctly and believe the carbs are set right but she takes a long time to reach its peak. Anyone else have similar problems? She revs up just fine under no load.
  11. I have a few of the items that you are looking for. I emailed you.
  12. The new switch will look a little different but it is plug and play and has an extra ground line that you attach.
  13. Hi, check your ignition relay part number but here is my number that I got off of the relay cover. 25230-89914
  14. I too asked your very same question not to long ago and got no responce so I had to take matters into my own hands. I only unplugged the 2 wire lead coming off of the temp switch and car runs fine cold or hot with no issues. I ran into a different problem that you might want to act apon. My starter would not always engage. Every once in awhile I would just get a click. I replaced the electrical piece behind the ignition switch and had the same problem so yesterday tracked the problem down the the ignition relay. I called the Nissan dealer and there are only 4 igniton relays in the country for the 260z and now there is only 3 as I bought one and would recommend you buy one as well. It was only 40 dollars. If you are going to use the wiring system I would recommend this. Good luck on your project.
  15. Hi, I am in the same boat as you and all I did was unplug the 2 wire plug that feeds the temp switch. I am only using one pickup coil now and the car runs fine. I was going to put in a 260z manual distributor but it only has 2 main wires and the auto distributor has 3 main wires. The 2nd pickup coil in the auto distributor comes on when the car is cold to retard timing by 7 degrees and supposidly turns off when car is warmed up. I ran my car with it still hooked up after my 4 speed conversion and everything seemed to run well with the factory 2 pickup coil unit too.
  16. Hi, sounds like your front seal is compromised. You may have damaged it on installation. You will probably need to pull your tranny again and see what the problem is.
  17. Hi, I am new to this forum and finally bit the bullet and am in the process of swaping out a perfectly good automatic transmission for a 240z 4 speed and have a few questions that I hope someone will be familiar with. My distributor and coil are for a 260z with automatic trans and I have a second pickup coil in the distributor for emissions that is activated by the temp switch. Wanted to know if I could just unplug the temp switch so the distributor will only use one pickup coil or do I have to change out the distributor to a 260z 4 speed unit? Also the main coil has a different part number and wanted to know if anyone knew if I change out the distributor to a 260z 4 speed unit do I have to also change out the main coil as well? The auto distributor has a 3 wire hook up for first pickup coil and the 4 speed distributor only has a 2 wire plug in. Next problem is with the auto tranny interlock system that keeps the car from starting when it is in park and drive and wanted to know if anyone has tackled that? There are 2 black wires with different color lines running through them and wanted to know if I connect them together to complete the circut or should I leave them unattached? Same problem with the 2 red reverse light wires that are in the loom as well and wanted to know if it mattered which side I put to the 4 speed reverse light switch on the trans. Any help would be appricaited. Ed from Cleveland Ohio.
