  1. Thanks for the positive feedback Joyce. I honestly am having a complete ball working on the car and sharing the experience. Fyi, I am trying to upload a new vid weekly. As the Youtubers say, like and subscribe for updates
  2. Hi all, I've been at my build for around 9 months now. I'm making progress though. I sourced a 1981 280ZX from a little town in the middle of nowhere. Seems it spent much of its life on gravel roads. Watch EP2 to see the cleanup 😷 The initial plan was to restore it in stock form but as time progressed plans changed. I'm doing a build series on Youtube. Not really meant as entertainment (so you wont see me dressing up and dancing around to get views). Its rather meant as an account of my build for anyone interested in cars. People can learn from my mistakes rather than my expertise (as I'm no expert). So far, I'm having ALOT of fun and learning ALOT. I luckily have an expert mechanic to guide me and save me when i get stuck/ F things up.
  3. Also busy with the same swop and would like confirmation of this. Do you use these rubber mounts with which of the metal mounts that attach to the block?
  4. cool. will do. Thanks. The plan is to upgrade the supply lines and use the current supply lines for the return as they are bigger than the existing return.
  5. Hi all I'm fitting a RB25DET NEO into my S130 280ZX. I have the bare engine and box, no mounts or wiring harness etc. I'm planning on squeezing around 400-450hp out without opening the motor. First question: - Do I need to replace the solid fuel lines with larger ones or do i just replace the rubber hoses with larger ones? (I'm using the stock tank with a bosch in-line fuel pump) I have seen mention that the RB drops into the ZX using the stock mounts (not sure if it meant stock RB mounts or stock L28 mounts). Either way, from what I see, the stock L28 mounts wont work. I have a mechanic friend stopping by tomorrow and we will place the engine in the bay to see what needs to be done. WRT gearbox mounts, any advice there? I have the stock bits off the L28. Can any of that be reused?
  6. Thanks for this info. Is anyone here running this kit? I'm looking to turbo my L28 and looking for info and options
  7. Thanks all. After washing it, I can see the condition is much worse than I thought. So, for now I will be doing a restore and once that is done i will consider the VQ. The major issues are: - LOADS of overspray - body filler on both doors - body filler on both fenders - the front has had a small tap and the surrounds for the headlights have been repaired with fibreglass. They did a bad job. - lots of exposed wires in the engine bay. The fenders are not a train smash coz I will be fitting fender flares. Not sure if that requires cutting of the metal but either way it will cover the imperfections on the fenders. If I can find some good doors I will replace them, else will cut out the problem area and weld in new metal. I found these headlights. Thoughts on this? https://www.wantitall.co.za/automotive/7inch-led-headlight-for-datsun-240z-260z-280z-280zx-1970-78-h4-bulb-replacement__b085dghm1h
  8. Hi all, I'm brand new to the Z car scene. I've always been a Toyota fan and my dad was into Nissan. He has passed a few years ago. Since then I bought a R33 Skyline and thoroughly enjoyed it. I sold that last week and will be fetching a 280ZX tomorrow. Its a bit of a barn find. From what I could see its been parked for ages. It's been sprayed before and it looks to be a decent job. Couldnt tell much because of the thick dust on the car. No rust and the body is straight. No idea whether it runs. My plan is to first clean it up and assess what is there and whats needed. I'm considering whether to keep it stock or to slap in a VQ35DE. I'd appreciate any comments around which would bring in a higher value. Stock L28 or VQ35. I've found a crashed 350Z where the entire drivetrain, suspension etc. is intact. It looks like it went under a truck. So just the roof etc is gone.
