  1. Wow, looking great and nice to see you have it running and tuning it.
  2. I had a V Bus where someone put a performance distributor on it. It never ran right. I bought two original VW distributors and took the best of both to get one half decent distributor. That old vacuum distributor made the ting run perfectly. So yeah, performance distributors, maybe only good for one thing, like drag racing or something. ha ha (Drag racing a VW bus)
  3. Looking good. Weird about the Mallory distributor.
  4. It looks really great! I bet you will be happy with a pro-paint job.
  5. Wow, big project replacing the roof. It will be neat, getting rid of the sunroof.
  6. Agreed. If you are making a torque monster, then generally, RPM is not where you make power. It also makes a more comfortable round the town car, which it sounds like is your aim. Takes a few corners, let it rip for half a block etc. Maybe you can smoke some tires, which would be something on a 240z. I have to say that lowrider's idea of using a micrometer is intriguing. I have never used them but I would probably buy a set if I were doing what you are doing, just because. And can never have enough tools to play with. Testing the crank for trueness seems like a good idea. A machinist can throw it on a lathe and find this out in about 1 minute.
  7. I was wondering the same thing about the water flow. I have seen on some YouTube channels where people had to make sure that water flowed or it caused disruption which cause the water to not flow through the radiator. Do they have a water bypass normally when the heater core is turned off using the switches on the dash? If it does not normally bypass, then I am thinking this will not be an issue. But if it starts to over heat then this is a good place too look. Otherwise, great progress. This is the fun stuff after all of that tedious body work.
  8. Do you Remember that dad had those Z beams (Cibie Z-Beam) in the 280z? They were awesome looking. They had very flat glass. It made it obvious they were an upgrade, but they were not jarring to see. Plus they performed. https://www.hidplanet.com/forums/forum/general-discussion/general-discussion-aa/15499-remember-the-cibie-z-beam
  9. Congrats, now for the Nissan club get togethers! Just curious, those headlights look period correct in the pics, did you decide not to do the modern looking ones? BTW, I prefer the way they look now compared to the ones that look a little modern.
