  1. My gosh, that was great work. Your car will not have that old musty car smell ever again!
  2. Can you put the original badges that were removed from the hatch on the spoiler much as has done on other 240z's? I think that would be cool.
  3. That's some back breaking work! Ned an impact hammer for the spring compressor

  5. Looking great. you have your work cut out for you on those Appliance wheels. The wire wheel hex pattern will be tedious and time consuming to fix up. But the pay off will be YUGE. (A trump huge LOL)
  6. Love the spoiler. Nice classic look. And good function. Dad always said the 280z got light in the front end at about 90mph. The front spoiler cured it.
  7. Its hard to say. I think that modern looking headlights seem to grab attention. So I find myself looking at the headlights rather than the car, or the car style after the headlights. Try this --> Google search '240z front end' then look at the pictures. Many with original look and many with the new look. Then make a decision. The good news is that its easy to change it one way or the other.
  8. You can bet someone already paid for those blankets. U-Haul is in the gotcha business.
  9. Looks great. I like the way you routed the spark plug wires around the front instead of over the valve cover.
  10. Very nice. I think its smart to do a little at a time. Take some fix it, put it back. I see to many projects where people just disassemble everything. It becomes too much for some people and they never get it back together. I mean, if you have the skill, time, organization, and tenacity, full disassembly\reassembly is fine. But life gets in the way for most people.
  11. Looks great. I was wondering if you would use a transmission cooler. Seems like a good choice. Makes it so you can drive it hard. That plus the shift kit should give you some great performance.
  12. I just came across something that may be of interest when redoing all that wiring. You may already know this. I was on Wikipedia looking at something and this little paragraph... Non-dyed silicone rubber tape with an iron(III) oxide additive (making the tape a red-orange colour) is used extensively in aviation and aerospace wiring applications as a splice or wrapping tape due to its non-flammable nature. The iron oxide additive adds high thermal conductivity but does not change the high electrical insulation property of the silicone rubber. This type of self-amalgamating tape amalgamates or fuses to itself, so that when stretched and wrapped around cables, electrical joints, hoses and pipes it bonds into a strong seamless rubbery electrically insulating and waterproof layer, although not adhesive. As an electrical insulator, silicone rubber has the added virtue of remaining non-conductive when damaged by heat, reducing the likelihood of runaway arcing. So looked on Amazon, its right there. I myself may never use crummy old electrical tape again! Or that melt on insulation tubing.
  13. Wheels are great. The 1600 roadster had the same wheels. So yeah, fits the era. Carbs are great. You were right to fix the original SUs. I have some stories about buying a new "identical as OEM" carb for a VW that will make your hair curl.
  14. As to the orange air cleaner. I gotta wonder if it will work better with it than other ones. You and I talked in the past about changing air cleaners on old motorcycles made the carbs almost untunable as the factory air boxes were so well tuned. On old motorcycles people change out the air cleaners to make them look cool which is a decent reason to do it. But if you want reliability, power range and decent gas mileage... With the factory SUs, will you be better off with the original air cleaner???
