  1. I did not put the springs in, I bought it that way. So I don't know about that. I will check on it. Where are the springs marked?
  2. I am about to find out if it is the same for the LT1 and a '68 327. Headed to ACE now.
  3. I have a 700r4 hooked up to the back of a sbc 327. I have been told that I can have an electrical converter lock up. But, what exactly is a converter lock up? I don't understand exactly what that does and how it works. Does it just mean that the transmission does not use overdrive. I figure this would be good for drag racing and towing applications. Is that correct? Here is a wiring diagram I found for the converter lock up on the 700r4 http://www.700r4.com/tech/tcc/relay_install/diagram.shtml Why does it run into the brake circuit?
  4. Could some one tell me what size the bolts that connect the bellhousing to the engine would be please? I bought my engine and transmission seperate. I don't know what size bolts I need to purchase. Thanks for the help!
  5. Thank you all very much for your help. I think I am headed in the right direction now.
  6. Hello my friends, I have a pair of t-op from an 85 300zx turbo. They have the locks, keys, bags, and suncovers. They are not damaged in any form or fashion. What would be a fair price to ask for this? I am not familiar with these parts and I cannot find a comparable set for sale. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. I am trying to decide which way to go on my 280zx. I am swapping a v8 in at the moment and it is about time to make up my mind. Any one have any reccomendations? Does anyone actually have manual steering on there car? How is it?
  8. My car is an s130. So I am really wondering if it will work or not. I found that this is the same bracket setups corvettes used from the factory in the 68's. I would just hate to buy it then find out it will not fit.
  9. OK, I did some research and according to what I found, the bracket for the chevy power steering pump, will be the same regardless if a person runs a short, or long water pump. So no worries there. The following setup should work with a short water pump, single groove power steering pulley, and a triple groove crank pulley, and (I am not sure on this one yet. Help?) a double groove water pump pulley? Here is the best setup that I have found for a pre 1970 sbc/ 327. I found it at speedway motors. It runs from $185-$300 depending on the finish. This should totally fit under the hood right?
  10. I do not actually have that figured out yet. I have bought a couple of brackets just to see if I can make anything happen. So far it has been problematic. I have the typical altenator bracket that mounts on the passenger side, and attaches to the water pump and intake manifold. There is the bolt that goes under the alternator and is suppose to thread into the accessory holes on the head but I have been told that bolt can be cut and it will be just fine. Nothing quite seems to line up... I pretty much have a fresh canvas to work wth. I just have to find a system that works with my heads. or... I could buy aluminum heads and go from there. But that would make me wait a week or two to get everything running. Plus the extra cost.
  11. I have a 327 out of a 68 corvette that I am ready to put into one of my 280zx turbo cars, I am just having problems getting the pulley setup figured out. So I have a short water pump with a large harmonic balancer(can those two even go together?). The other thing that makes this somewhat contrary is there are no accesory bolt holes in the front of the heads. I am also running a/c and power steering. So, can anyone reccomend a good pulley setup for a 327, with no accessory holes in the heads? Should I use a smaller harmonic balancer? Should I use the short or long water pump? Thanks for any help
  12. That looks great! Very nicely done my friend
  13. I am in Forney. I spend most of my time in rockwall and grand prairie though.
  14. I found the point where I was happy two months ago. I had finished the LT1 swap into my 81 zx turbo and was driving it the same day my friend went out and bought a brand new mustang gt. I met him downtown to check it out, and of course we had to race. I destroyed him out of the hole pulled away from there. He just had his butt handed to him buy a car that was $25,000.00 (give or take a few grand) CHEAPER than the one he will be paying off for the next 5-6 years. Once I saw the stupid look on his face I knew I was happy with what I had built. Later!
  15. Wow! That motor looks great. Thanks for the help sweet ride.
  16. I don't agree. It may not take quite as long, and cheaper to do the initial swap. But, parts are more expensive, they are a little more difficult to work on (in my opinion). Finding one that runs good enough to just put in a car without rebuilding and is cheaper than a sbc might be a little bit of a challenge too. I still say the V8 is the way to go. I'd like to see your 1000 dollar turbo car motor keep up with my 1000 V8
  17. This 327 actually does not have the accessory bolt holes in the heads. I sure appreciate the help though.
  18. No jumps, got it! I wonder if everyone scrapes the underside of their car as much as I do. Maybe it is just these nasty Texas roads. Or maybe the jumps? Haha!
  19. I had an LT1 with a 4l60e in one of my cars. I drove it every day. Got pretty good gas mileage too. Especially when I did not get into it too much. The fuel injection was great and it was pretty easy to work on. I actually just pulled that motor and tranny out for a 327 I came across at a real good deal. So if anyone wants an LT1 and 4l60e for a cheap price....
  20. Hey everyone! I am trying to setup power steering in my 81 zx turbo. Has anyone done a write up on this before? I want to avoid any pit falls I can.
  21. I bought another 280zx a couple of weeks ago. It had been lowered and by lowered I mean just plain slammed. On the ride home I scrapped and bottomed out more times than I can count. Got home and jacked the car up to find that the springs were totally loose. They were nearly falling off of the struts. The springs are from tokico and they have the accompanying blue shocks. I have never heard of this before. The springs do not look to have been heated and compressed, and they were not cut. I asked someone at an auto shop and they said that it must not have the right shocks. He said that lowerd cars require special shocks? Can anyone help me out here? Do I need special shocks? Are the springs fried? Ever heard of this before? I will add a video to show you all exactly what I am talking about later this weekend. Thanks everyone!
