Fast Floridian's 240Z Track Build

It’s an 8 groove, I got the pulley kit from CVF. I would think a standard rotation wp would be more common for the SN95, I mean a lot of people mod and race it 🤷♂️ -

I got the correct rotation, just by luck. I bought the water pump last year, before I got the pulley kit, didn’t really understand the difference at the time. Got the belt/pulley kit and since no other accessories, standard rotation was what I needed 😅. 100% of old wiring is gone, using sniper for EFI, got a lights/blinker kit/harness and I’m making/piecing together everything else. I discovered deutsch connectors the other week and bought a kit. These are great for wiring switches and other small wiring. This is a switch for my Wilwood electronic parking brake. I’m not ready to full on wire the car yet, just evaluating what I have and making a big picture plan so when I’m ready it should be a lot easier. -

Got fluid in and bled the brake lines. Smell leak at the line lock, tightened up and everything looks good. Been playing around with the wiring, seeing what I have and how I’m going to put it all together, got some ABS sheets and going to make up some panels to organize everything. Also got the alternator and bracket on and test fitted the sniper. -
Nice, what are your plans. Get her up and running, full restoration, something else?

I love me some carbon fiber 😍, can’t wait to see the final result.

Got the axles bolted up to the diff, forgot to get the castle nuts, so I’ll bolt to the wheel hub next. Was a little tougher that I thought, tight space for the bolts and having to unbolt upper control arm, I could have used an extra set of hands 😅. I’ll torque up the rest of the rear end this weekend and hopefully get some brake fluid in to test for leaks. one of the axle bolts was stripped a little right at the end and couldn’t get the nut on, I’ll try and clean that up this weekend too. -

While I wish there was more activity there are still people posting and following/commenting. I’m building a ford 302 for my 240Z right now, hopefully dropping it in this summer and I’ve gotten some good tips from members as I work on my build, saved me some big headaches. Someone else is doing an atlas swap. Unfortunately the S30s aren’t cheap anymore and parts are expensive. That’s certainly a factor when people are looking for a project car. -

It was messy, but axles are put back together. Overall pretty easy with the correct parts, probably spent more time cleaning up all the grease 😂. -

Might be a month or so before I get to it, but I’ll post updates. Figured I’m moving all the guts to the carbon fiber doors, why not see if the auto stuff will work. Played with one of the axles last night, fitment seemed good and went together really quick when they are manufactured correctly 😅. -

New axle shafts came in today, woohoo. Now that’s how the snap ring is supposed to sit. Hopefully I can put them together this weekend. Also got some other goodies, push to start electronic locks and window kit. -

Most of the Apex kit has been good, a few minor fitment issues on some parts and that front bracket to attach the subframe with the hidden carriage bolts was a PIA to get in. Getting these axles has been a mess. I ordered the rear kit 8 months ago and still waiting on parts. Luckily I’ve got lots of other things in my build to work on, but if I didn’t I’d be really upset. -

Apex said that batch with the new vendor had the groove to short, they are sending some new ones. Glad it wasn’t me, was racking my brain trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Go the rockers and intake on today, engine is getting close to done. -

I’ve been struggling with these Apex rear axles. They require OEM 370Z axles, no aftermarket and not G37 ones. I ordered used ones on eBay, which they recommend, one wasn’t OEM because it had 6 bearings, OEM has 8. So I think I have correct axles and after struggling for a while with the side that has the internal snap ring I looked at the donor axle and the groove is deeper than the new ones. So not sure if new ones have an issue, or if I still don’t have the OEM 370Z axles. Sent Apex and email, we’ll see what they say. -
