wow that's actually really cool. how many of those 7oz cartridges would I need? well since I don't really know what I'm doing yet a easier question would be how much can you do with one of the 7oz cartridges?
well I'm still in high school and I'm in an engineering class. next semester (starts aug 19) I can learn to weld. I could have last year but I never bothered because I had a teammate who could already weld, this time around I'm on my own due to taking the class twice I do my own project first semester. I guess I could see how that goes.
would it be a bad idea to use bolts and body filler? I'm thinking that might work for garage made fender flares.
I really want to do some custom bodywork on my "570z" once I get it running/while I wait for parts and stuff. the thing is, I don't have any welding equipment or experience. this is where ya'll come in.
Can anyone tell me a cost effective way to learn to weld and be able to do it in my garage? or maybe some way I could do custom bodywork (custom flares maybe? maybe the "datsun" on the back like beau m is doing) without welding? At this point I'm open to any thoughts.
thanks
I took the carb off today (its a carter AFB) and I started to tear it down for cleaning. I got to a point where I can't really get much more off (this is where experience would help me). I might try to tear it down a bit more, I might just drop it in the cleaner how it is. I have a rebuilt kit in the mail.
no i did nothing to it. i cant exactly rebuild it as im not sure what it is. it looks like an edelbrock though, im not 100% sure. i might look into rebuilding an edelbrock and see if it helps me
slam my hand down on what exactly? im a little weary to slam my hand down on the carb because i forgot to mention but its spat up a flame twice. im not sure what that might be, im thinking its just the starter fluid burning up before it gets all the way in, im not sure.
didnt try that because we left the fuel line on the fuel fitting. but there IS gas in the bowl so it is getting in, its something internal in the carb. and i dont know what carb i have because our mechanic got it from a friend because he thought the one i had was no good. now im starting to think we were better off with the original one we had.
we looked for a filter in the carb, couldnt find one. and what i meant by backed up is that there was pressure on the hose so when we took the hose off gas was pressurized causing the squirting i was talking about
okay, update. its not getting barely any gas, its getting NO gas.
also, i took the top off the carb and fiddled with the floats a bit, so they're free now for sure. and still same deal. it burns up the starter fluid then dies.
okay so I fired up my v8 for the first time today, exciting, but it doesn't run fully. there's almost no fuel getting to the cylinders. we were spraying engine starter fluid into the top of the carb and it worked, the problem was once it burned that off it sputtered and died shortly after. and we went to see if we were getting any gas and when we took off the fuel line from the carb gas was backed up and squirted out.
any ideas? the best I can come up with is just replacing the carb.
oh, and I know we were talking through pm's but it makes more sense to put this here. I didn't know that about the plastic wheels. The one I gave you a picture of is real wood.
I got my key stuck in my ignition lock, which seems to be a mildly common issue. anywhoo, I bypassed the lock so I can use anything to start my car. Now I think I'm gonna leave it that way and move it to a hidden area. I'm unsure about what the other wires do on the side of the ignition body. Can anyone help me out on this one?
The previous owner's pic of what I call the 570z, It has a 5.7L chevy sb (according to previous owner, I'm going off his word on this one, which hasn't proved to be too trustworthy)
I'm in need of some mounting brackets for my 72 240z, I may be interested in the actual strut bar too but I already have a couple its just a matter of fitment. Any strut bars and/or brackets for sale are welcome here.
quickest way to contact me is by email pber4l@gmail.com (thats the letter "L" not a one fyi)
