  1. Chris, You left out some very critical factors in determining HP. What type of cam are you running and what are the specifications. The cam determines at what level your HP and Torque peaks. You could have a wild cam that maximizes its power at 7500 RPM but if your cylinder heads are incapable of breathing at that level you will have a slug. The Performer Manifold is just one step above a stock manifold so you need a mild cam with it because it won't flow at higher RPM'S. You also need to know what compression ratio the engine has. The 4777 carb is a double pumper and the higher jetting and dual squirters might be too rich for a mild cam. once you supply the missing information a guess could be made about the potential power of the engine. Good luck, Hanns.
  2. Yes, I built a TT383 in my 72 Z. If you can fabricate the components or you have the money to let someone else do the work, you too, will have an awesome Z. I did most of the fabrication myself and a friend loaned me the turbos. There are photos in the TurboSupercharger forum under TT383 Chevy in early November. Hopefully, I can help you with your project. Hanns
  3. Your carb set-up may be the overrich problem. Before I turboed it, my Z had a 383 with a 750 Double Pumper. The carb came stock with 70 primaries and 80 secondaries. Champion RC12YZ plugs ran clean at .035 gap. Is your float level correct, powervalve not ruptured, and idle screws adjusted to highest vacuum setting? My carb is 20 years old and naturally aspirated my Z ran 11.15 at 123 mph, with that setting. Turbo Meister
  4. Thanks for the comments about my Z. I recommend fuel injection for any turboed car but most car owners must stretch that dollar, including myself. A friend is allowing me to use his turbos and I had a carb. Thats why I used it. I intend to convert to EFI, as soon as I can afford the required components. Meanwhile, I'm having a great time cruising the streets and racing at the strip. Most of the strips have warned me not to run in the 9's anymore because I currently don't have the required license and certification. But low 10's, on the brakes, is still fun. Hanns
  5. Thanks for the comment. The Z has plenty of room in front of the radiator for an intercooler. However, my current turbo orientation in the engine compartment makes the IC plumbing too difficult. Especially, since I don't want to cut into the fenderwells or eliminate The Z's full 3 inch exhaust system. For now, it generates enough horsepower without the IC. But you are correct there is much more power to be had with an IC system. By the way, you have a very fast Z, yourself. That's a lot of power for a turbo six. Hanns
  6. Thanks for the compliments. I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of your 383TT in the near future. If you can do some of the fabrication, yourself and you take your time, there is no reason why your Z won't look like mine. Hanns
  7. Thanks for the compliment. I don't drive my Z everyday but I could, no problem. The Z has a modified suspension for drag racing, so it is slightly harder to handle in traffic, but not much. The turbos don't spool up unless I punch it, so the engine is not a problem. Hanns
  8. Paul, thanks for the compliment. The turbos are 14 year old Rajays ( 375 E 80 ) that have been loaned to me from a friend. The log style manifolds are made from plain 2.5 inch square tubing, but they work. The turbos fit in front of the engine but must turn inward, from both sides, to allow clearance for the exhaust plumbing (since I did not want to cut into the fenderwells). I do have a full exhaust system with big Flowmaster mufflers. Hanns.
  9. Dan. Thanks for the great photo of my car and myself. Many photos were taken of my car at the West Coast Nationals but it is special to see a photo of me with the Z. Hanns.
  10. Nathan. Thanks for the comments. I'm using a Holley 750 DP. I modified the carb and built the pressurized carb box, myself. By the way, your Z's E.T. is pretty good for a mile high turbo 2.8L. Hanns
  11. Scottie. Thanks for the compliment. I'm very impressed with your Z's appearance and the great Quarter Mile time. Hanns
  12. Thanks, Marcos. These are great photos. Hanns
  13. I have Photos and videos but dont know how to post them because this is my first computer and am still learning.
  14. Does anyone, besides myself, have a twin turbo 383 Chevy in a 240 Z? I showed the car at the 2003 West Coast Nationals and have been drag racing it at LACR, Fontana, Irwindale and Sacramento Raceway.
