  1. The best laid plans... So I get an e-mail this morning that Yesterday the guy puts the Vette in the shop to have an oil pressure sender replaced, oil changed and scratches buffed out of the rear quarter panel for me... Car is still in the shop... I most likely WILL NOT pick it up today... Mike
  2. This topic has been beat into the ground... Do your research... I found the answer to both these questions in no time at all... I just used some patience and READ the information the search engine came back with. Further, making smart comments won't aid in your quest for help... Reading is fundamental... I suggest you employee those skills learned in grade school. Mike Administrator
  3. Yup, that is the exact unit I use... Very nice Too! Mike
  4. Thanks for the input... These are still on my list of "Must Haves" and since they come in 1 3/4 I"m all over them like stink on Poo! Mike
  5. Nah, I don't want the complexity... JUst one more thing to let loose in grand fashion... Yea, that's what I keep telling myself! That's my story... Mike
  6. I love it... Seems as the guy has been too busy, and we got hit with a heavy snow storm in the area this past weekend, causing him not to get to the shop to get tires put on the car or get the scratches buffed out... SO I called him today to inform him I'm ready to buy and have the funding approved... He asks if he can just knock off the difference of the tires and the buffing... Approx $600 worth of work... So I say SURE... 1999 Vette for $17900??? Absolutely... So I'm gonna test drive it on Thursday morning, go get the check and meet him at his credit union, and then get the title and go on to the DMV... Should have the car home and save by Thursday night. Mike
  7. WELLL LETS not get carried away... My purpose to build this car is to have fun with a on street car... I want to be able to drive it to california and back if I choose... Not intending to get over 500HP... The Z will be the crazy car... I expect 530 crank HP out of a 2700# car... Mike
  8. First, A BIG BLOCK Zcar project, Then a Beautiful wife falls into your lap, and now a NEW CAM and fresh rebuild on the bigblock???? Lucky man... Spring for the three piece unit and listen to your wife and I... You can't take it with you! Mike
  9. Well I'll save you the trip and conceed... 550WHP is enough... However, I know of a certain board member with a certain Supra that might be your huckleburry! BLKMGK, You out there??? Mike
  10. I suspect we'll have it tweeked and ready by spring... May even have another full motor build in by then... I JUST won a new set of LS1 heads that are going to the machine shop for porting as soon as they come in... Hope you are going to bring 500 crank HP to the frey.... Mike
  11. Been doing some trolling for stuff for the Corvette and MAN is it easy to make power with these motors... Not to mention that parts are easily had CHEAP! I have a strong lead on an LS6 intake and a blackwing Ramair for $425 for both... AND I'm gonna probably have a set of NEW LS1 heads for $300, built. I'm searching for some headers, a cam, and lower rotating assembly, as my builder has already got a block for us... MAN, this thing is gonna be quick! Mike
  12. Oh trust me Don, We have a deal... It isn't going anywhere. Stopped by and saw it today... Sitting out in the SNOW! The guy has told all other comers to piss off AND I'm giving him $500 more than he asked for him to hold it... It will be mine by mid week next week. If not, I do have two others lined up to look at... Just incase! Mike
  13. YOU'D BE SURPRISED... I even teach how to Properly clean your bicycle... City Folk! Mike 8)
  14. THAT is one of the reasons I want to finish my 2nd V8 Z build. My olderst stepson has never had the experience of riding in such a well prepped and fast car. My youngest has and knows. These cars are SOOO light and it is SOOO easy to either boost them, or swap some serioous cubes into them and just abuse the locals. Unfortunately, in my area you better have at least 400HP on tap, because we've got some serious contenders out there, and a few of them are driving integras and civics. They ARE out there, just very few and very far between. It is funny... My stepson's girlfriend would look at his motor (B18B1) and then look at my 383 Stroker shortblock and just give him grief... To qoute her; "Size DOES matter!" Mike
  15. Well it looks as if I won't have the car before late next week now... My loan officer is moving like molases and the guy with the Vette has had a rough time getting the car into his friends shop to have it buffed. So probably next weekend will be the timeframe... And next Saturday I'm teaching a bicycle maintenance class from 11-5pm, which will impact my little Vette purchase event even further... Sheesh... Mike
  16. Couple of comments here... Mr. Cofee brings up a good point... Does the student hold responsibility for not listening to his instructor? Hard to say. I'd say that getting them to honor it would be hard to prove. Again, the instructor put himself in the situation. My guess is most students would just write it off as part of the "Experience". And wish the instructor well in the hospital. First, If you ASK the instructor to drive your car, it is WELL within YOUR RIGHTS to stipulate a few things. The guy is an instructor... Put him on a leash that makes YOU comfortable... Second, I'd find someone who is more experienced with my particular car, instead of just grabbing an instructor. Sounds like there is ownership by both parties... However, I've been upside down on a track as a student in an instructors car, and as an instructor in a students car (As a passenger) and I see little value in having a student sit in the passenger seat of their own car... I'd always recommend they hop in mine, eliminating the risk all together. I think the instructor has ownership, and I'm not sure why he would see the need to rev fourth so high, and then effectively speed shift into (What should have been..) 5th gear while "Showing" the student the line. However, He did "ASK" the guy to take him around the track... He is a lawyer and will know how to proceed. Litigation may be required, but my guess is the instructor will see how the cards are stacked and work something equitable and fair out. Comment about insurance and ALL companies are different... My insurance company (Virginia Farm Bureau) told me that as long as it was not a sanctioned "Racing Event" and that I was on the track for drivers instruction, that my cars would be covered 100%. Every insurance carrier is different, but I would NOT take a street driven Zcar to the track without sufficiant coverage. Too many things can happen on a race track, and if this car has millions in sweat equity, and thousands in parts, I'd not put it on the track uninsured, unless of course you could walk away from it without worry of the loss. CHECK YOU HEALTH INSURANCE for clauses... Read the fine print. Friend of mine got injured last January at Jennings GP in Florida. He didn't find out until AFTER his release from the emergancy room that his health coverage through his employer did NOT cover his high side experience on his motorcycle ON TRACK. Clearly stated in a clause in the policy was mention of sky diving, motorcycle riding on closed course, flying aircraft, rock climbing, and about 6 other "Recreational" activities. The high side trashed his R6 (High sided at well over 90mph!) and cost him about $15K in medical expences... DO YOUR homework and READ your policy, especially the fine print!! Mike
  17. Guys, based on the research and new information, I deleted the thread... Let's keep in mind that these types of hoaxes are all over the internet and it is real easy (Especially this time of year) to get wrapped up in them, and to get conned into buying in to them. My mother, who I love dearly, gets all sorts of crap that make her sad and depressed... And the crap isn't even real... Mike
  18. WOnder what that would cost to ship to Virginia? Mike
  19. Well actually the 90 civic is mine... I commute in it... But yea, that about covers the mods... plus the modified Ninja, the tricked out Mustang GT, the lowered GMC with mods to it, and the Zcar... I'm a busy boy. The reason we made the mounts was we didn't have them at the time, and I have a little bit of experience fabricating and welding... I'm gonna replace the mounts with factory units as we get them in... My D15 is a dual cam motor, so I'm hoping by swapping the intake from the DX and the computer (The D15 came from a DX, but my car is an HF model) that we can see that 20+HP difference they claim... Then turbo it for sheitz and giggles! Mike
  20. Actually I have a 90 Civic Hatch we're gonna throw a turbo on in the spring, maybe sooner... It will go on a dual overhead D15 motor. We were putting a turbo on this one, but he is gonna have to hold off as his money is running out... Mike
  21. Oh trust me, I will... These are original OEM five spoke wheels, not the knockoffs! Guy sold them to me for $575 new in the box... One has a scratch on it. Already pricing LS6 intakes and cam kits for it too! I'm hooked, BIG TIME! Mike
  22. ...and opn top of that, I get cost plus 10% on most of my parts!!! Love VB/ Hate... No, Make that Loath MSA... Mike
  23. Thin five spoke wheel painted silver... Should go nice with the Pewter colored paintjob on the 99 C5 I should be getting next week... Mike
  24. Those are on my son's civic... they are 17 inch something or others that look really nice... Polished lip and painted silver... No more control arms for me dude... I'm done with that mess... I'm Corvette bound... Pick up my 04 wheels this weekend... Just need the car to go with them! Mike
