  3. hi guys......i picked up a sbc last night in buena park, california. it's free, the giver said that this engine is there when she moved in and that her son in-law told her that its a chevy but not sure whether it's a 305 or 350. on the engine block number reads gm3970010. how can i......or where to go to determine what's not. any help is greatly appreciated. -thanks-
  4. lol...my mistake ross. i ordered my bushings through Motorsports Auto...i got mixed up. my apology.
  5. lol...it's on back order. i'll wait 'till it arrives. i spoke to one of your rep and advised me that i need to use the 240z struts onto my 280z inorder for the coilover set up to fit. is that true? are the 240z struts interchangeable w/ the 280z's? will there be any fabrications needed? if i'm going to use the 240z struts, should i need to section all four? appreciate the help.
  6. ross...i got the rubber bushings i ordered from your co. except the front control arm bushings
  7. ...you can also utilize he front caliper from a 1988 Toyota 4 Runner V6, 1984 300ZX front rotors and a spacers from JSK. as for the rear brake conversion, you can use the caliper from 85-88 Maxima FWD, rotors from 82-83 280ZX and the brackets from Motorsports. Hope that helps... -John-
  8. hey guys...i've read some of the threads pertaining the above subject, but i don't recall anyone mentioning the necessity of shortening the strut...is it necessary to shortened the 280z strut when converting into coilovers? if so, how short? what type of strut cartridge should i use? what brand coilover to get and where? you answer to these questions is greatly appreciated. thanks... -john-
  9. man...that's gonna dust a lot of v8's... no offense v8 convertion people...
  10. you're absolutely right. i don't have that kind of money for this project. so i decided to pull out in this 350 z8 conversion mainly because money is an object to me. i will go back to plan a w/c was a 280z engine w/ triple mikuni or weber carbs. appreciate the help.
  11. it's tempting gary but, it's out of my price range. i'm looking to get a good used 350 and build it myself. i wanna learn and have some hands on expertise rebuilding/hotrodding engines.
  12. thanks. i appreciate the help. i went to jtr site and and everything i'm gonna need is there. i'll get the convertion manual tomorrow. thanks again, i feel a lot better.
  13. hi, i am new to this american engines into japanese cars...so please bare with me. i decided to put chevy 350 small block into my 280z. what year, make and model the 350 engine should come off with? what differential should i use? what drive shaft should i use? ecu? wiring harness? appreciate it.
  14. thanks for the heads up guys. i'm planning on dropping a small block LS1 into my 76 280z, can you guys input me all your expertise such as what need to go, what needs to be replaced and what not. appreciate it. -thanks-
  15. hi guys, i just wanted to share the fun i'm having tearing down my 76 280z. this is a long term project and i'm not mechanically inclined so bare with me. here are some photos as to the progress and what not. feedback...
  16. i painted mine glossy black click here for pics
  17. here's how they look: all four: http://supra-sport.com/suspension.jpg front: http://supra-sport.com/suspension02.jpg rear: http://supra-sport.com/suspension03.jpg
  18. for the front: you have to remove the round rubber that's attached to the first metal perch so it can fit into the 4" coil. the first metal perch is what you put in first after you slide the coil into the strut housing. the bearing plate goes after and the top perch is last. for the rear: all you need to do is slide it in...that's all
  19. well...fits in my 76 280z. not sure about the 240z or the 260z. as long as the factory coil measures 4.5" in diameter, you can fit any 4" springs. they fit front and rear. note: 94-97 accord v6's coil measurements in diameters are: 4" front and 4.5" rear. my 76 280z measures 4.5" all around.
  20. it will fit guys. 94-97 honda accord v6 aftermarket springs fits in my 280z. the front coil measures 4" while our factory cprings measures 4.5" but it sits snugly. the rear measures 4.5" just like the factory springs. we all know honda has soooo many lowering springs to choose from. i'll post some pics soon. 8)
