  1. I believe the Pathfinder also came with that auto trans at some point. consider swapping to a manual transmission. I found a used n/a 5-speed with 60k for $50 about 2 yeard ago. Everything else you need can be found in salvage yards for cheap for reference... *all Z31 n/a's came with the same manual transmission, same as the S13, different bellhousing though *84-86 turbo came with a Borg Warner T-5 *87-89 turbos...internals almost identical to Z32, considered strongest option.
  2. only 87 turbos made after 04/87 had LSD from the factory only LSD's had the finned cover but of course buyer beware... also note... the 88 SS model came with a VLSD and unique half shafts similar to those found in the S-chassis, Z32, etc...
  3. all Z31's use the same auto trans (only exception being 84 turbo) so yes they are interchangeable digital dash can be swapped to analog. Plenty of info can be found here... http://www.az-zbum.com/ http://www.z31.com http://www.z31performance.com http://www.redz31.com
  4. it's been done in the Z31 also, but again, not in the states
  5. Check out the conversions and hybrids section at ls1tech.com there are several posts there about the 240sx swap. Most are dealing with the s14 chassis, but it's still better than no info.
  6. 240zJake: I took a long time to check the SPL website out and was very impressed. My suspension catagory has been altered quite a bit. Thanks Phantom: I have been looking at LS1tech.com for about two weeks now trying to read as much as possible. I'm planning on installing a stock motor and tranny for now to see how the chassis handles it and to keep things simple. The only upgrades that could come soon are the clutch/shifter and some nos. This is the area that I need to do the most learning in. Thanks for the tip.
  7. Thanks for the link. I'll look at the website in more detail when I have time tomorrow. The only thing I noticed so far was that most of their s13 suspension parts are chromed. Awesome for shows but not as durable as powdercoating or so I've read. Thanks again.
  8. If you guys couls look over what I've come up with so far and help me fill in the gaps or fix problems with the ideas it would be much appreciated. I thought this would be a fun and unique project, maybe even a modern version of the 240Z's with carbed sbc's. I've spent quite a while planning and researching possibility and parts to complete the project. Yes I know the difficulty is pretty far up there but I want a challenge. The general idea is an S13 coupe with complete JDM bodywork and drift bodykit/suspension but having the mellow rumble and power of the chevy V8. The car will be factory Nissan gloss black and hyperblack rims 17" front 18" back, width is undetermined as of now. 9. I have been searching online with no luck for axles that can hold up to 500-700 hp. Does anyone have any experience or help with this? Also, what diff should I look into to hold this much power? Thanks all.
  10. Thanks PROJECTRB240SX.
  11. I plan on installing an LS1 T-56 combo into an S13 240SX coupe and have been using this site as a reference. Would it be possible to use the clutch and pedal assembly from the S13 or is it a better idea to source one from an f-body? Also, what are the possible advantages or disadvantages of using the Corvette 6-speed over an f-body 5-speed? Thanks for any help.
  12. If you could post links to any of the cars mentioned that would be great. Thanks.
  13. Yeah I realize it's not exactly on topic for the forum but I thought with the similar drivetrain and how some people are loyal to certain brands I figured that there might be some answers here. Tyhere isn't exactly one place to go for the answers I'm looking for and the 240 forums I'v visited have been much less than spectacular.
  14. Has anyone here considered putting an LS! into a 240SX? I like the idea of a small Datsun/Nissan body with a large chevy engine but would like something with a more modern look than a 240Z in the hopes of having a more subtle presence. Can anyone tell me what an LS1 and T-56 weigh? The weight gain on the front two wheels seems to be the disadvantage over an SR20DET.
  15. Sorry, but he's not the first to do an LS1 third gen RX-7 swap. Hot Rod magazine May '04 issue page 30. In their "77 Street Machines That Haul Ass" article they have a picture of a third gen RX-7 that's black with a limo tint and stock appearing. The caption reads, "'93 Mazda RX-7 Brian Hinson, Tuscaloosa, AL. Two-stage nitrous-enhanced LS1 power in a package that weighs 400 pounds less than a C5 Corvette delivers 10.12 e.t.'s at 137 mph. And it's driven everyday."
