  1. I have a friend who has a Ford Excursion. He put a chip in it, six inch exhaust, and propane injection. It didn't cost him that much and he now has something like 900 lb/ft of torque. The thing will spin all four tires off the line, with a 4" lift and 35s, and still desecrate any mustang stoplight to stoplight. For more info on diesel power, I might check out http://www.bankspower.com . Not exactly your motor they deal with, but they are the leader in the diesel aftermarket field. Maybe someone in their tech department could help you out, I've heard they're good to work with.

  2. I have an aquiantence who grew up in a small Idaho town, Pocatello, and she said it was a horrible place to grow up unless you are ultra right wing. If you have kids, keep that in mind, unless you're right wing, and then its should be perfect. :-)

  3. I just moved to Sacramento from the Easy Bay and it's much cheaper to live up here. There IS rush hour traffic, but it's far better than the bay area any time. Traffic actually moves up here. As far as being a car guy goes, there's Sac Raceway, Infineon/Sears Point, Thunderhill Raceway and we have trees!

  4. Go find a service manual for whatever model you're asking about. That's the only way to be sure. I've never seen one in an S30, and would not like it if it DID have one. I remember almost putting a delivery truck through a wall though becuase I forgot to check if it was in neutral. I was twelve, but still, maybe I should take that back.

I think I'm gonna try that Lemans start with my 280, I can't hurt it any worse. Responsibility lies solely on my throttle foot.

  5. I understand the project. I guess I was just kinda wondering why you would try and do something like this to a ZX, but then I thought about it for a minute. Why not do it to a ZX? The platform is relatively cheap and easy to come by, generally in better shape than the S13, and it's different. It's not like you're trying to turn it into a Gallardo. Yeah, I don't like the Boxster either, although I've never driven one.

  6. And this is why Hybridz is the best Forum on the WEB. I mean I visit at least 10 other Forums with other car makes, but Hybridz is the best, because of how friendly/professional it is. This is the only place where you can find and read what you want without shifting through loads of BS/Trash Talking, I hope it stays like this here, good job admins for keeping the peace.

Agreed, 100%. I can read all day and learn more in an hour than I would in a month anywhere else.

  7. Isn't it great how careful most of us are not to step on anybodies toes? I doubt I'll see someone say, "What the !@# were you thinking" about any datsun without following it up with "as long as you like it, it's cool. Be yourself, do your own thing. I may not see the point of putting an Allison I16 in there, but hey, it's not mine, it's yours." :-D

  8. I don't like the looks of a 928 very much. Plus I'm not really seeing any similarities unless you compare widebodies, then somewhat. I don't like the back end of a 928, let alone the rear windows. Uh oh! Here come the flames.

Nah, I agree, they're hideous, not that I think your renderings are hideous. Haha. But they ARE a blast to drive, more plush than the 911s, and cheaper too. Where I'm seeing it most is the widebody and the stance. If I were going to change the front so much, and do a custom tail, I wouldn't start with a Z, I'd do a 928. I'm not anti-widebody. I love the YZ, but that's not something you'll have to lay up eight times to get it right. My two cents. Keep it up. I envy your education.

  9. Interesting car. I wonder why they didn't retain the factory fuel injection. It's much more tuneable and reliable. Strange. The Gixxer 1000 motor is a much better foundation to build on. It's not as torquey, but only barely. My teammate was running an 01 that he had built the last couple seasons and it had 167 rwhp. The 05s are putting around 150 on average to the rear off the showroom floor.

    We totally hijacked this thread.

  10. Just wondering how wide you thought would be correct. So your comment/opinion is that the tire width doesn't match the fender width rather than the tires should be wider. You can have what ever opinion you want, I couldn't care less, I just wasn't clear what it was.

In essence, yes. The main justification I get from people rolling 20"+ rims is that they fill out the wheel well better. Ostensibly, that's the reason for going with wide/fat tires/rims. It's usually about look. I'm not slamming the builders desires, tastes, or preferences. I just think there's too much space and if it were my car, which it's not although it is far nicer than mine, it would bother me.

  11. 0-60 in less than three seconds sounds a little bit off to me. I have been in the powersports industry for seven years, and that sounds a bit off to me. The actual Hayabusa motorcycle does 0-60 in about 1.9 and weighs about 1000 pounds less. It also doesn't have 190 HP to the rear wheel. Maybe if you get a nice one from the factory you can get that at the crank, but it's usually closer to 170-175 at the crank. Just point out GFEs, not trying to be a nazi.

  12. I like the design at the beginning of the post, but this car looks more like a Porsche 928 to me. In changing the body so much, it's really not a Z anymore. I think if you really want a car that looks like that, you could pick up a 928 for fairly cheap, and have a much better chassis and powertrain to work off of.
