  1. Guys I have been searching for a few days now while at work and I just have one pretty simple question. What extra Emissions, Vacuum and EGR stuff can be removed and shaved from the intake and under the hood. I have not exactly found any one say what can be removed, but instead pictures of their intakes showing what they did and how they look. Just looking to clean up under the hood and get rid of un-needed parts.

I have alot of extra junk on my intake that I dont see most people use. It is probably broke or inop anyway. I live in houston so cold start and all that is not to much to worry about and this is not my daily. So any one who could chime in and help me better understand what some of the things are and do and is not needed. Im just looking to learn and there is alot od knowledge here. It would be much appreciated. :D

  2. Just incase anyone else needed the info, I managed to search all night last night and find one picture with some info and figure out the rest from other post.

    [1980 280ZX] -----------------------------------

Green Single Wire - Aux. Injector Fan.

    --On the Thermostat housing.

Other Single Wire - Sender to Temp Gauge.

    --On the Thermostat housing.

Thermal Vacuum Valve - Part of Vacuum System / Emissions stuff?

    --On the Thermostat housing.

Bigger 2-Head Plug - Thermotime Switch.

    --On the Thermostat housing.

Small 2-Head Plug - Head Temp Sensor.

--This is the Sensor near Cylinder #5 to the left of Oil Filter.

If this info is wrong please correct me. If not someone else will have it all in one spot this time. ;)

  3. I went to the parts store to pick up what I thought I needed, a Temp Switch and Coolant Temp Sensor. When I went to put it on the threads were to small. It only fits on the Head Temp Location on the lower passanger side bottom of the motor. Does any one know what sensor is which on the thermo stat and were you can get this or Part number.

  4. I figure someone will do this so may as well do it now.

Depending on your goals will ultimately be the choice between these motors. Ive wanted to do this swap myself and have read a lot of info on this site about it. It's been asked a lot and the answer ultimately it will be your choice in the end.

Well I am at work and I can not figure out how to post search results but just type in "RB20 or RB25" it will bring up a bit of info on diffrences and peoples reasons for making their choices.

  5.

Thanks this will give me something to do at work. :)

Cool another ZX Houston member! You can modify any fiberglass front spoiler and MSA sells a variety. If you have never worked with fiberglass it is fun and fairly easy to get the look you want once you get the hang of it.

I am debating putting the front bumper back on my car.

Yah I use to work for car audio places for about 4 years. I started getting into fiberglass dash bezels and building trim stuff for radios and screens. Very fun stuff. Im hoping to build an entire dash possibly glass maybe sheet metal.

    Go Houston!

  6. Hello, Ive read these forums for quite some time now but this is my first actual post. I have a '79 280ZX that I just recently decided to to start working on.

I have been trying to get general idea of how I want the car to come together. My question is I really like the look of the Older Z with no bumper and the higher turn signals. I searched time and time again on this subject just could not seem to find it.

Is it possible even with fabrication of the older front air dams, to get that look on a ZX? I even looked at MSA site. They dont seem to have that wide open look. I even tried looking through photos to see if anyone has done it but so many people do so much it gets confusing lol.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Note - Hope this was the right thread for this.
