  1. I had planned on going with an after market 58 mm throttle body as well as high flow manifold and runners. Wouldn't that take care of the breathing problems?
  2. Currently I am having a 383 SBC engine built for my 75' 280Z. I plan on installing a TPI injection unit from a 88-92 Camaro/Firebird with an aftermarket programable ECU. Does anyone know if that TPI unis utilizes a fuel return line? I am curious because i plan on later installing a Venom nitrous kit and it calls for an a fuel system that doesnt have one. Any help or expertise in this area or on a Tpi swap would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. No problem ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  4. East Coast Z : 757-543-6608 4320 Bainbridge Blvd. Like i said the owners name is Barry. ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  5. The yard is called East Coast Z. And the Owners name is Barry. They are located in Chesapeake on Bainbridge Blvd. If i can dig up the # and Address i will post it. P.S. Thanks for the vote. ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  6. Do you think the 3.7 lsd will be a good match to the T-56?
  7. Once again thanks for the input Pete. And i have for the most part got my mind set on the T-56 now. As far as East Coast V-8 Z's meeting up i think i would be great. Even though rest assured mine wont be done anytime soon i would surely drive a few hours to see come awsome customized Z's. Also curious as to what the different gear ratios on the 1st generation 300ZX LSD's came in. If anyone knows please post them or possible a link to them. Once again everyone you input has been a great help ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  8. As far as where i am getting the LSD i plan on pulling one from a 1st generation 300ZX. There is a junkyard about and hour from me that specializes in nothing but z parts and the owner Barry is a fairly decent guy who you can dicker with if you know your parts. i should be able to get one for probably 200-300. ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  9. Thanks for the input Pete i was kinda awaiting to hear from you.. By the way Kick ass car you've got going there Thanks again. [This message has been edited by Fastzdriver (edited March 18, 2001).]
  10. First of all i want to thank you all for the responce on this issue.. But back to buisness. A few of you mentioned runs at the drag strip... the car isnt going to be used for that at all. and as far as off the line once i am used to any manual transmission i am a demon as far as fast shifting goes as well as driving a car to its full potential. Be it a V-8 Z or a wimpy toyota 4 cyl pu truck. My thing is this. As my name implies i like to drive fast And as i stated i drive alot on the highway. Rain and a manual transmission doesnt bother me. I am just curious as to the T-56 cruising potential on a little over stock hp sbc 350. like 350-400 hp no more. I dont plan on going for any type of high rpm band hp. just a fair range from about 1000 up to say 5500-6500. Its just that the .50 final ratio of a 94 and up F series T-56 sounds very appealing when you consider the type and amount of driving i do. Your opinions regarding it in this aspect will be more than appreciated. I have for the most part made up my mind but the more info i have the better so as that i can make the most educated and researched decision possible. once again i thank you all for you responces and look forward to more. 11. Thanks for the reply but i am a little curious as to if anyone here has used both and can really tell me some pros and cons of the 2. i know both are excellent transmissions but i am concerned as to which would be more worth my while concidering the amount of driving i do. Once again any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks [This message has been edited by Fastzdriver (edited March 16, 2001).]
  12. hey everyone. currently i have the opportunity to purchase a 383 sbc with a 700R4 for cheap. My original plan was to go with a quality remanifactured engine and Borg Warner T-56 6 speed. my question to all of you is this. i plan on using this car (1975 V8 280z) as my daily driver. i drive ALOT. for example i drove close to 40,000 miles last year between my car and my motorcycle. i am concerned about gas mileage.. will the 700R4 be decent on the highway since thats where most of my driving is done until i get the T-56 purchased and installed. I will be running a stock R-200 with a 3.54 ratio or a R-200 LSD with the same ratio. your opinions on this will be greatly appreciated. ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  13. i was at advance auto the other day anf decided to ask them what one of the HP remanifactured motors by Recon they advertise would run for. SBC 4-bolt main 350 rated @ 350 HP with an edelbrock carb and intake was like $1140 with core charge. $840 w/o. Has anyone used one or does anyone know much about their reputation. Pkg came with a decent warranty as well. Your thoughts guys?
  14. Ah the hell with it. I am just going to run the dual supertraps with an h-pipe in front of them. quiet or not Thanks anyway everyone. ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  15. Hey the company out of Phoenix AZ [(480) 967-3289] called back promptly John washington is the contact there and they had 5 or 6 left. But those appear to be the last ones around i called all over and surfed the web all day yesterday and those were the ony ones anywhere. Needless to say mine has already been mailed If anyone else needs one i would get a move and order it asap. ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today? 16. There are a great # of rim and tire dealers around the country and possibly in your area that can custom drill rims. there is one i think they are called colorado rim specialties who i know have done rims for Z-owners in the past. you may want to do a little research on this option as well ------------------ Have you had your Z-8 today?
  17. I have already called them as well and left a message but the folks at JTR said that they werent too sure if they had any more either. OH well my fingers are still crossed and my ears are still open if anyone has any more info. thanks once again.
  18. i was thinking if i ran maybe 2 Thrust glasspacks along the driveshaft, an h-pipe, then the dual Supertraps on the rear this would keep it extremely quiet. i am curious if this is too much back pressure though. but on the other hand both mufflers have essentially a straight through design. What do you all think? once again thanks for all of your input.
  19. Oh yeah by the way the kit i am refering to is the one for the 70-78 Z's. I am doing the swap into my 75 280Z. [This message has been edited by Fastzdriver (edited December 11, 2000).]
  20. i have called the company and all of their distributers and they are all out and dont expect any more till early febuary.
  21. i called to order the JTR V-8 Z conversion manual the other day and they said that were all out of them. Any body have a spair by any chance (fat luck...yeah i know)?if so would anyone be willing to sell theirs.
  22. i plan on using 2 supertrap mufflers with the internal discs and slant cut tip (catalog item from summit they have 3 in tips) on a chevy 350 with shorty headers and 2.5" pipes going back. i want my system to be as quiet as possible while keeping a decent amount of clearance-- car is using the MSA Aero Kit II. i was thinking if I put in an h-pipe to cut down on the noise. would this be a possible solution?any input will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
  23. hi, i am new to this forum and have just recently decided to convert my 1975 280Z over to v-8 power. i havent had to much time to browse through all of the info housed here so i am asking for just some basic info on some things. First of all i plan on using a used chevy small block engine. i have already upgraded my cars suspension and i plan on using shorty type headers, unsure about which brand right now, an edelbrock or possible a holley air gap- dual plane intake manifold, 4 barrel 600 cfm Holley carb, dual supertrapp mufflers, and a later model r-200 diff. one question of mine is that when using a 700 R-4 automatic transmission do i need a computer to control it , my buddy keeps telling me that it does but i am curious as to the specific years/models that that applies to. 2nd i was curious as to if a hurst or B&M type shifter would work well and be funtional as well as have a reasonable shifter heigth. Also i am curious as to if the original halfshafts from my '75 will still work and be the proper size with say a '82 r-200 rear. and are they strong enough, the halfshafts and the rear end, to stand up tho the horsepower and torque of a slightly modified 350. And i guess my last question is about the Z's unibody. does it need to be reenforced. or are my 3 link strut tower braces sufficient. any input you all have will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
