  1. been busy getting it running straight. After two distributors, a coil, new fuel tank and fuel lines, its starting to sound good.
  2. Well, I've been sick and broke lately, but the fuel cell is finally in the car. Im not too happy with how low the tank sits, so Im going to eventually fix it. I guess it's fine for now. I've got bigger fish to fry.
  3. almost finished. Just two more pieces to weld, sand it, then paint it, and weld it into the car.
  4. I made the recess for the dual exhaust. I also have my n42 intake, custom fuel rail, and Supra 7mgte 440cc injectors. Im going to be looking around for a different turbo, throttle body and ECM next week. Im broke until friday. before: After:
  5. Im not sure if I'd say I made any real progress today. I think I just sat there, staring at the car in a hungover state of mind, wondering what they heck I was doing. I widened the exhaust recess and just hung one of the mufflers to check fuel cell clearances and I can begin piecing together the exhuast system. While Im still waiting for my parts to arrive, Im going to finish welding in my floor pans and toe board tomorrow. I also want to pull the wheels off and check my brakes because it feels like a brake is dragging when I was driving it around the yard. Me thinks its probably the e-brakes are stuck.
  6. I got my cheapo mufflers and my AN fittings in today. Still waiting on the material for the fuel cell frame and a fuel pressure regulator. I have the car under a roof now, so I dont think last night's snow will inhibit me from getting some progress done tonight and this weekend. Oh, and before I forget, does anyone have a non-egr intake with a throttle body they'd perhaps like to sell? Im going to start piecing together an efi system so I can get this turbo back on. Thanks!
  7. I've been dodging the weather lately, but I still managed to get the car running. The fuel tank is leaking bad, so I have a summit racing 15 gal. aluminum fuel cell on the way. I've started cutting out the spare tire well and chipping off the sound deadening doo doo. I also started tearing out the rust around the rear hatch, above tail lights and welded in some templates I made. It still needs some work, but Im no mechanic or miracle worker of any kind.
  8. Havent been doing much lately. Its just been too cold to do anything. I managed to make some templates for the floor pans and layed those templates out on 20 ga. cold rolled steel. I cut out the material and set it in the car for now. Im hoping to get some of it welded in this weekend and finish the toe boards.
  9. Im no welder, by any means. I had about a weeks worth of practice with oxy acetylene welding and even fewer time working with stick. So, MIG is completely new to me. I bought a cheap little ebay mig welder. Its not rated for real heavy stuff, but its enough to do the floor pans and thats all Im going to need it for......for now. My first attempt wasnt too bad actually. I didnt have enought amps the first couple tries, but I soon found a reasonable setting to produce this...... I've ordered the material for the floor pans, which Im going to use 20 ga. cold rolled steel sheets. So, in the meantime, Im going to keep practising.
  10. My concern right now, other than resurrecting my floor pans, is to get the car running under its own power. So, to eliminate further issues, I went ahead and removed the turbo system, cleaned and installed the stock instake and dual webers and ordered new replacement filters. I had to, also, order the fuel pump, ballast resistor, lower radiator hose and a distributor. Other than that, I believe the engine should start. If Im not mistaken, I believe this might be a new dash because I would find it hard to believe that a 36 year old dash would look this nice... I took the plugs out and to my suprise, they were brand new. I sprayed some lubricant into the cylinders to loosen the rings before trying to crank it over with no compression. Sure enough, I dropped a practically dead battery in and after tracing down some loose wires, it slowly cranks over. It appears to be new oil and filter too. I also test out the electronics. The only issues Im having is: no brake lights, dash illumination, and back up lights. I have a little bit more work to do before I attempt to fire it up, i.e stock exhaust manifold.
  11. Well, it appears that the firewall is rusted through under the battery tray and has caused significant damage to the floor pans and frame rail. Here, you can see where I cut out the rest of the floor pan and most of the toe board and all the loose wires everywhere. I found a rodent's nest inside the frame rail....lovely. Thankfully, I havent come across any chewed wires.
  12. Well, this is my first thread ever, so I hope Im doing this right. Just wanted to share my new project. Its a '73 240z that someone has swapped an l28 into with a p90a head. They also attempted to install Turbo Tom's kit, but sadly never finished it. I picked it up for $1k in Virginia. The car came with the stock intake with dual webers, seats, and original head. It appeared that someone tried to replace the driver side floor pan, but never got around to finishing it. Its just tack welded into place. As for the passenger side, it needs love. By love, I mean a few cuts and bruises, grinding, sanding, welding, and lather, rinse, repeat. Here's a few pics of when I picked up the car. Thankfully, it was stored in the back of a glass shop, so the body is in suprisingly good shape. Kudos to the man who did the body work. The unfinished Turbo Tom's kit with an impressive 4 barrel Holley carb.
