  1. Sky is the limit with a Z induction some set ups work better than others. I am running both one z with 2 bbl (daily driver) and another z(bracket racer)with su carbs. Down draft carb university.
  2. I'll take a look to see how the one they sale is configured, mine is different. I will get back to you later.
  3. Is there really a need for nitrous on the street? If so how does anyone know you have nitrous unless you advertise. I thought this stuff was for street sleepers. If your car looks fast it probably is fast. You can't hide driving a Z car. LOL. I love nitrous since the days of the road warrior. I'm sorry to hear this is a problem child in some of you guy's states. Sounds like just one thing to bring in more cash fines and take away our lively hood. Maybe the cops really want it on their cars? LOL
  4. Hybrid Z when stock don't cut it. I just happen to have one of those tired azz L24 engines (It's stock and aint cutting it!), that some previous owner drove to near death. I also have a race prepared 75 toyota celica (My love before the Z),that was wrecked in the rear by some idiot. That has a modified 20R engine that will kill most prey at the stop light. hmmmmmmm??? These engines give exceptional performance and torque and are put in vehicles heavier than 240z's. The 20R and 22R engines are a dime a dozen and with a huge aftermarket. I also have a conquest turbo with a intercooler and this car will run circles around most street cars with its 2.6 liter 4 cyl. From the factory its 188 hp with a small turbo and small throttle body and heavy 30lb flywheel. I have even seen these cars modified go in the low 10 sec range on the drag strip. The engine has been around a while and there are after market parts for it. Including drag race crate engines. The conquest is a RWD car and weights over 3000lbs in that stock body(Somebody please wreck this one! LOL)Lets not forget a 4 banger is lighter than a V-8. So the next time you get your doors blowed off just think, it might be a Hybrid Z 4 banger! When all else fails get a light flywheel and some nitrous!
  5. In the spirit of the game, gentlemen those that fantasized about a carb version of this engine with headers. Check this out!http://www.vg30.com/510vg30parts.html
  6. I just put a Clifford intake on my L24 and it had the plate for a 4 barrel carb but I bought a 4 to 2 barrel adapter plate. Clifford sales the 2 barrel only plate so no 4 to 2 adapter is needed. My hood clearance is close but still closes with a aftermaket aircleaner. If you want details of my conversion please E-mail me.
  7. Talking to some experts I found out that in the history of car, somebody had replaced the oil pump without aligning it up. As a result the position of the rotor was off by one. I don't know how this car stayed running, because the distributor plug wires were at the correct position. I will probably move the wires down one. Maybe pull the oil pump and align later. ------------------ Here he comes, here comes speedracer! He's a demon on wheels!
  8. Maybe about 185 to 190 hp based on the mods you listed? If you had maybe some head work and higher compression maybe 200+. ------------------ Here he comes, here comes speedracer! He's a demon on wheels!
  9. I have both repair manuals clymer and haynes. Reading them, the two both give different info for adjusting the valves. I also suspect that the either the crank shaft pulley or the distributor is off. Previous owner had engine rebuilt by heaven only knows. Does anybody know a fool proof way to make sure of the correct position of the cam shaft lobes in relation to top dead center mark on the crank shaft and rotor pointing to #1 on the distributor? This task was alot easier on other cars that didn't have the engine rebuilt. I also would like to know if the adjusting nuts on the valves are usually very hard to turn. Thanks!!! ------------------ Here he comes, here comes speedracer! He's a demon on wheels!
  10. Thanks for the response I was just about to buy a 4bbl intake when I read your comments and ran across another site with a 12sec dual su carb z. Here is the link. http://www.ontariozcar.com/novdec00/novdec06.htm [This message has been edited by ninja240z (edited December 19, 2000).]
  11. I have a 71 240z with stock head and block. I am currently removing the stock exhaust manifold and installing a 6-2-1 header. I'm thinking about changing to an 4bbl carb with an electric choke and later thinking about adding nitrous. Does anybody have any quarter mile numbers of this early I-6 with nitrous or a 4bbl or both. Also wondering which 4bbl would be idea for off of the line performance. Thanks, all comments appreciated.
