  1. I'm a little older, a little wealthier, less healthier, but like to show my ass at the stop light!

  2. If I'm not mistaken, It was a from a T-10 transmission that used the original datsun slave cylinder. I have been looking for this transmission for years. It sucks when there are no manufactured parts for custom conversion. Don't even use the word SCARAB or bad things will start to happen. LOL
  3. Good Luck! JTR has a few parts including motor mounts for the ZX model.
  4. This engine stock for stock will still perform better than a stock L28. Its all about seat of the pants tire smoking torque. Add a 600 cfm edelbrock carb with a performer intake, set of headers and a power shot NOS and laugh at the skeptics. I found this video with a 307 in a truck almost double the weight of a 280Z.
  5. Welcome to HZ! I have seen alot of conversions done with L shape brackets coming off the frame rails. I just happen to have an old set of 91 cams. I do have a word of advise. The 280Z might be too heavy for that engine. Most guys put these engines in a lightweight 240z's body.
  6. Hello there! I use to live in Ft Walton years ago. If your car is a stick get someone to push you a little and pop the clutch with the ignition in the on position. If the starter or selenoid is screwed this should start it. If it is an automatic take out the spark plugs and take a socket wrench and turn the crank shaft clockwise and if it moves it probably isn't locked up. http://www.myspace.com/ninja240zx

  12. I had this in my favorites for a while I hope this will help out anybody a group. There are even 4bbl carb conversions and bellhousing adapters. http://www.chrfab.com/
  13. Dave is on target. I have used them all. SU's, 4bbl and 2bbl. All have there unique qualities. But you just can't use POS carbs and expect them to perform. Start out with fresh parts and you will get good results. I love my downdraft setups. I have a JDM downdraft manifold for a factory 2bbl,also a clifford research and Arizona Z brand manifolds. In the past Chevy and Ford and Chryler has used a 1 bbl downdraft carb in the past with good results on their straight six engines. A good seal and a low CFM carb is the ticket be it a side draft or down draft setup. Too much CFM for a 2400cc to 2800cc will actually lower horsepower according to bench dyno's.
  14. Good job and proceed to the next step. Hey where are your investors and sponsers? I guess that would be us. Hey guys, what are willing to pay for this head if he decides to market it?
  15. I was talking about doing this swap about a year ago, but I sold my conquest to a friend. This car had great performance and was over 3000 lbs. It had good top end also. To me this would have been the perfect swap. Lots of these cars are in the bone yards and being sold under 2000 dollars running. These cars are heavy weights and in a z would be a match made in heaven. They have a small turbo but come from the factory with an intercooler. Stock it was 188hp with intercooler and I believe a 7 or 10 lbs of boost. I gutted out the cats on mine and opened up the exaust with a glass packed muffler. Then added a K&N air filter. This car could have easy taken some many more mods. These cars did low 15's stock with small turbo. I also think the pistons are bigger than the 2.8 liter Z. I have been eyeing some in few places for sale. There are few companies out there that will build full race packages for these engines. I saw a video on a conquest that did 10sec pass and smoked a mustang at the strip. Well if nothing else it definately has more displacement than the 2400cc Z engine.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34218&item=2464170668
  16. I have experienced the same with another brand. I thought that maybe my car was in a wreck before. LOL .But there may be some factory imperfections or a little were and tear on the sheet metal.
  17. I have a conquest non TSI that I am bored with. It weights just a little over 3000 lbs. It is fairly fast with good top end power. It is RWD with a turbo and an intercooler. This turbo engine is rated at 188 hp with no mods. I don't think this engine weighs as much as the L28 but it definitely has more horsepower. It is also a 2.6 liter 4 cylinder and very dependable. The price of these cars are very cheap and they are under rated. The same engine naturally aspirated came in ram 50 trucks. I am going to attempt this swap this spring or summer. I was wondering if anyone has considered doing the same swap.
  18. This should be a match made in heaven ,but make sure that head is in good condition before installing it. I bought a n47 maxima head and put it on a L24 with flat top pistons worked fine except that it was supposed to be rebuilt. One the valve guides was broken. I only found this out after I installed it and wondered why the #5 cylinder was not firing. I have heard that this head flows decent because it was a fuel injected head and that was made for unleaded gas unlike the E31 and E88 both having smaller combustion chambers and being made for leaded gas.
  19. The two outer ones circulate coolant from the block and from the thermastat housing. The other is the vacuum line. I have seen some of those lines blocked off on some installations. I have mine blocked off also. You will need to replace the fuel pump on a fuel injected car with one for a carbuerated car. You can buy one at any autoparts store. You don't need a pressure regulator at this point.
  20. I knew that I was on the right track. I was going to do this swap a while back but somebody mention that it was a step backward to put a four banger in a Z. I will tell you this much. On a certified scale ,my 240Z weighs 2350 lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas and my conquest weighs 3000 with 1/4 tank of gas. The 240Z came with 120 plus horsepower from the factory and I heard the engine weighs about 400lbs. My conquest came with 145 horsepower from the factory but now has 175 horsepower from modifications. I think that this engine should weigh less, not sure(somebody please weigh this engine). There is a company that caters to these conquest cars and the sell drag race crate engines and other hi performance parts. I have a video of a conquest that did 10 plus seconds in the 1/4 against a 12 sec mustang. For street power my conquest is plenty fast but the same intercooled turbo powerplant in the z with the potential of 300 plus horsepower would be insanely fast.
  21. The stock su flow between 280 and 300 cfm. which is about the best flow based on the displacement of the L series engines. If you look at the bigger american straight six engines they are fitted from the factory with as small as a 1 bbl carb and a average of 2 bbl carbs. The key is to not over carburate. Anything over 500 cfm is probably not going to make that much performance on a small straight six.
