  1. I got this to move the car around with as well as my shifter kart. Its a 94 and I feel like I got it for a great price. I wanted an old Tacoma but this was a lot cheaper and can actually move things.

  2. I replaced the floors and the mounts (stock or Mckinney) fit the car perfect. My only problem was the speedo drive was in the way and was pushing engine over to the drivers side. Now everything is centered.

Well it looks like you redrilled the mount too right?

  3. Well i just talked to them again. He told me that part of the issue is that the mount is the old style and I need the new style. He is going to send me a new mount and says that should fix the issue.

I think part of the issue with yours Mac, is it looks like at some point your floor pan may have been replaced?

The tunnel might be a little spread out as well. Try and pull the two sides together.

    Hope this helps :2thumbs:

Very helpful. It is funny because I called Mckinney on Tuesday and they told me how everything is laser measured and that the only way it would be off that way is either my chassis is tweaked from an accident or something of that sort, or they sent the wrong mount. BUT based on your post it just looks like its what they do all the time. I will probably send them your pictures as well as mine in order to get to the bottom of this.

  5. I know you may not care, but I got Utah Classic plates off the internet! These are as rare as it gets I think for a usable plate in Utah. I think they will look amazing with my new paint color too.

  6. That's definitely not a mount for a '73. The early mounts have vertical bolts (like you have) and the later mounts have horizontal bolts. The design is somewhat similar to how the front control arm bolts to the crossmember. You'd know if it was the wrong mount.

I sure couldnt get it to fit at any angle i tried. I suppose knowing its the right one gives me hope so I'll give it another go this week.

  7. So Today I thought I would just get the motor officially mounted, bolted in etc.

I keep messing with it a couple of mins at a time but I havent had anyone to help me with placement etc so I have just been putting it off.

I figured I could probably mount it if I just got patient so I did.

It took forever rocking the trans and motor moving it up, down, teetering it, pushing it back, and overall shoehorning it into the car.

Finally I got the motor mounts all lined up and in but then came the problem, The trans MOUNT IS NOT THE RIGHT ONE! I am pretty sure that Jason had a 73, and the mounts change between 70-72 and the 73+. So I guess It's time for another call to Mckinney to see if they ll break up a mount kit and sell me the Trans mount alone?

To Give you an idea, Here is as high up as the mount can go with both bolts threaded in maybe two turns?

I know the first thing anyone will say is, "Just drill it out," but the shape of this thing will not permit for a modification.

Here is my next worry, Not sure if the motor should tilt that much? The trans seems level though as does the shifter mount, so maybe it's fine?

It is nice that I could get the hood on though again and it all seals right up!

  8. Selling my motorcycle to get this thing going. My top priority at the moment is making this Z run. Updates to come. I think I have a promising buyer coming to see the bike today. That will help things get moving again.

  9. What did you do about the messed up hard lines? I think I may have a set in good cond. LMK if you need them...

I do need them still. Its just the ones I showed though. I tried buying them from a guy on the usa skylines site and he wanted liek 50$ just for shipping!

Lmk price and shipping to 84095.

    Thanks!

  10. ^a bit of my roots i suppose? Tanukis are about the coolest mythological creature in japanese story telling imo. There is a bit of everything in there though.

So guess what my wife and I did today?

    IMG_1114.jpg

Yeah she and I got this bad boy back in. Mckinney overnighted me a new mount and told me the old one was the worst built one they have seen in 8 years of making these! I am very proud of how well she did! Aside from a spark plug change on a ae86 this is her first real mechanic work!

  11. As you can see, the Poor little z came out for a bit today.

    P1030153.jpg

The Motor mounts dont line up to the block though so on one side only three bolts will go in. Pretty strange seeing as Mckinney made the mounts for that specific car! Anyways IT is in just enough for the move, then it will have to come back out, have a bunch of lines replaced, etc etc.

I suppose the most comforting part is that the transmission actual lines up so I wont have to cut it out to have a shifter!

  12. I pm'ed you. I see you could not put them in with the trans connected right?

Yeah I was being lazy. I will disconnect the trans before I put it all in and put those last few bolts in. There were a couple of bolt holes that really didn't line up, but I did want to put the rears in.

  13. Guess what? I put the Oil Pan on today! And aside from a bolt hole or two, it fit perfect. Not bad for a custom pan made by a guy that doesnt even have the same motor! It was hard because he used a different set of holes than the ones the original pan used. Next question, why would that motor have two sets of OEM oil pan holes? Very strange indeed. Probably because they use that block with a few different cars?

BIG THANKS TO MICAH FOR GETTING THAT WRETCHED STOCK PAN OFF!

  14. For those lines get a hold of the company you purchased from and shipping company because that is BS!

Yeah unfortunately I have had it 3 months now so I feel like its basically my fault for not looking sooner.

  15. Ok so here it is on the car. I wanted to see it on the car, and really dont have room for it in my office anymore!

Also I need these lines, they seem to have been crushed in transit. Any ideas on the best place to get them?
