  1. What does the hks unit weigh stony? Got part of my install going.. This thing fits very nice
  2. Thanks 240Z Turbo! I read that from another site (was browsing both at the same time) and got it confused, updated my above post with it as well, since their new I really am ancy to pick one up, now I need to plan a little more (want 3" everywhere) so Im stuck with the above, atleast to get the car going
  3. Is that painted or polished Magic? (the intake/valve cover)
  4. Forgot I had these on the camera, heres some shots of what I got stuck with:
  5. The new ones look diffrent then the above picture, most likley just the branding on the outside. J. Soileau 74260zt I'll edit my post, was under the impression they were rebuilt (must have read it from another site), going to try and order one much sooner now ** Anyone ever stick a screen in their i/c tube? hehe dont want to shoot some metal shavings into my i/c when/if this then eats it up, or whatever happens, id just not stick it in but then thats $300 of boredness, might as well see what it does at 25psi and 6k
  6. I purchased one (found some others here with them too), haven’t hooked it up yet but I did take it apart (had to put some new bolts in the oil center section), I read what it says on "so you want a bigger turbo" about how it ate the compressor wheel and such, when I had mine apart it looked to fit very nice, spins freely (after some tweaking) and nothing (so far) rubs or touches. I paid $300 for mine, if that goes for ~$200 and you want a super cheap turbo that may not last for a long time then I say pick it up, they may have fixed some of their common errors, like grinding the compressor wheel into the housing, mine apparently doesn’t do that but you never know till your running 25psi of boost on the sucker! "dont buy it, those turbos are crap." Does personal experience make you say that ihatejoefitz? Or you just talking based on what you’ve seen from others? If you got the money I would get basically the same thing but Garrett, I found the cheapest was $550.00 for the same spec unit, but a real Garrett. http://www.speedshopthagard.com/garrett/T3TO4E.html $550 is a lot more then $200 but if you were me, $550 isn’t much more then $300 and would be worth the wait, I’m shooting myself in the foot for buying one of those XS-Power units but it does appear to be a fairly decent turbo, maybe I'll be the first to get one running with some success.
  7. Thank you mobythevan! I didnt even thing about a double nut on it to pull them out with, I didnt really think vicegrips were the proper way, no real good way to get grip with them and they just strip Time to find the nuts Thanks for the link for the studs, ill order them up in the next couple days.
  8. Got bored, wanted to this for a long time so I did
  9. If your talking to me I dont know yet Just purchased the radiator on Saturday, going to take a good week to get it, then waiting on ms&s, injectors and a ton of other parts before I can turn it on
  10. I searched the forums and still couldnt find anything good on how to remove the studs that hold the turbo to the exhaust manifold. I heated mine up for about 5mins with a propane torch then tryed to use vicegrips to turn them, wouldnt budge.. Id rather not drill them out and I dont think PB Blaster will do squat, how long do I have to keep the torch on it? 5mins felt like a long time. Where can I get replacement studs as well? I have a 3/8" spacer, would like to go out so I can fit a 1/2" spacer later on if I upgrade to a larger turbo, I cant get anything that fits locally. I also need studs for the DP, I forget the bolt size (can look it up), I dont know the size for the manifold side tho. Thanks, if I missed something in the search just give me a link.
  11. Is that one of those XS-Power t3/t04e hybirds EZ? What have you thought about for a wastegate?
  12. Ya you know stencils and spray paint really cost alot I should turn mine into a "HKS" one
  13. Almost forgot.. I contaced ubendman, got all the pipes (I think) I need for $210 shipped, found another place to get 4 ply silicone couplers for $120 (for everything) so looking at $330 for (hopefully) all the i/c pipe and couplers, I think its worth it, I really dislike seeing the coupler connecting the straight pipe on the intake side to the curve that goes to the radiator support (if you know what I mean), 1 solid pipe from the ic coupler to the intake coupler is sick
  14. Those look almost identical besides the end tanks! What skyline did that come off of? Heres mine in the car, did a bit of chopping and cutting (removed the radiator verticals, replacing with 1.25 square tubing all the way around, new alumn radiator going in next week). I was forced to run the pipes into the headlight bucket area, didnt want to do it but having it sit so low there was no other option. I also cut the bumper supports about 1/4" or so away from the "piston", if I cut the side holes (for the pipes) bigger I can adjust it about 2-3" on the top side, in/out making it more at a angle, dont see it making a diffrence but could be cool. This thing fits snug, the 24" core is a perfect fit for the stock radiator support cutout, with the stock radiator everythings 24" fitting very nice. Cant wait to see how this is going to mount up, I was thinking about a "double bolt" on for the bottom 2, basically take a exahust type stud and weld a bolt to the middle then join the i/c to the crossmember, either that or use my radiator brackets, not much room so well see how it goes, I also want it super low. Heres some pics, its got the box cutout around it to protect the fins (should have done that first), they can get banged up easily, mine looks good. Oh yea, this thing needs to be re-polished, sorta looks half-assed if you ask me (didnt expect more for $300). No comments on my hole cutting please Its all going to be welded up super strong hehe.. More photos at: http://gamecp.com/photos/Wills-car?page=3 - my zxt and caprice, pictures are all mixed up.
  15. Woo got mine today, this thing is HUGE!!!! Even cutting the in/outlets out and welding 90's to it will still make it tight in a 83 zxt!! 4" wide looks very sick, no pictures yet (since it looks like above) but boy when I get it in there its going to look sick, very tight fit, only about 6" or so of a gap (12" tall) so its going to fit very nice.

    83 t5 max hp?

Ya maybe its just me and how I am searching but everythings regarding either the t56 or v8 related, nothing really saying what the stocker can do. ** found some stuff on zcar saying "the T-5 will handle a lot of hp...especially if you dont drag race it (400hp).....over 300+ if you do......but not 400hp and drag racing...." Not to shabby.

    83 t5 max hp?

Thanks 2126, search didnt return any solid information for me, I will try again tho. My goal is to get 350hp with a drivetrain that can do that, I wont be doing many drag races, mainly just driving around having a good time and doing some solo2 races, when I looked at this 3-4 years ago the stock setup could do the 350hp but like you said, possibly not for very long. Any other opinions would be great, I'll get back to searching. Thanks.

    83 t5 max hp?

I have a auto in my 83 right now and have a chance to pickup a factory t5 with low miles, Im going to be pushing around (hopefully) 350hp once the car is back together and want to make sure the stock t5 can do this. What is your opinion on the max hp a stock t5 5speed can do?
  19. Where did you get the inconel heat shields from? Wow is all I said scrolling down
  20. Wow so many people with the same i/c ! Since its 3" in/out, my turbo is 3" in and 2.5" out I was looking at sticking the intake and i/c inlet 2 x 3" then comming back the other side with 1 3" My question I guess is attaching to the turbo compressor outlet, being at 2.5" I guess my only option is to route a 45 or 90 degree 2.5" to 3", or go from the curve to a 2.5 -> 3" piece, any suggestions on this? Cant wait to get my new i/c! Already have my new t04e but it sucks and the ebayer wont take it back! Says after I clock it there is no return (tho it has 1 year warrenty and is defective (imho), I am sooo ready to hook the car back up!! I tore the whole engine down in the car, degreesed the filthy underside and framerails and am ready to start cutting and welding! WOO hehe.
  21. I recently purchased one of those cheap t04e's off eBay, needless to say it will never be started on the car.. I will be sending that back and am interested in getting a much better unit, from what I've seen basically the Garrett t04e is going to be my best bet, I am looking to achive a max of 350hp (will settle for less) and would like to get a turbo charger that will do just that. I'm stuck trying to find good prices and finding out a turbo that will be built well and high quality, I see most Garrett t04e's are rebuilt, just want to make sure I get one that is well done. Any suggestions on whos got quality turbos? Looking ~$650 . Thanks!
  22. You guys know of any sites like, http://www.magnumforceracing.com/ubend.asp , they seem to have decent prices on the pipes id need, I havent found any local shops yet that have what I need, besides straight pipe atleast. Post some pics Clifton, mine wont be installed for another 2 weeks or so
  23. Cool, do you recommend getting a IC kit on ebay? Found some for ~100, gives me the basics, I can make the rest up..
