  1. I'm terribly sorry if this is a stupid question or if it has already been answered, but I just got my JTR mounting kit in today and I crawled under the car to look at my pinion flange. However, while I was under there I looked at the flanges on the halfshafts and they look pretty identical to the adapter that came with the mounting kit. So here's the question, is it not possible to use these flanges (or something similar to them) to make a halfshaft that uses chevy u-joints? I know that the halfshafts give a little where the boot is and that might be difficult to fab, but would it not be possible to use a completely chevy halfshaft with chevy u-joints? Thanks for any info.
  2. Well here's my question. I have a brand new Federal Mogul fuel pump that I am thinking about simply running a regulator on (in my v-8 swap). The pump was sold to me by a local parts store as the stock replacement for my '82 280zx. I know from the JTR manual that the stock fuel pump won't last long by simply putting a regulator on it but this is an aftermarket fuel pump that I still have the receipt for and honestly wouldn't mind burning up as it's still under warranty for the rest of my life. So my question is, can I run this pump with a regulator? Will it die immediately? Will it feed a close-to 500hp 383? I don't plan on spinning the thing past 6,000rpm and I will be running a 670cfm street avenger carb. Thanks a ton for any info!
  3. So, in my mind you would simply start cranking the engine, hit the switch to activate your fuel pump, and you should be good. When you want to stop the car you flip the switch off and turn off the ignition. Reguires a little coordination but sounds like sound basic plan. Am I wrong?
  4. $1701 at machine shop for work on bottom end of 383 $500 215cc dart iron eagle heads (used) $100 roller cam setup for late model block (used) $333 Eagle ESP I-beam rods $200 Eagle ESP 383 crank $110 victor jr. intake (used) $200 1.6 roller rocker arms $110 roller cam (used) $550 for rebuilt 350 turbo $275(?) for JTR mounting kit $80 for chrome alternator $20 chrome valve covers $20 alternator brackets $60 pulleys ----------- = $4259 STILL need: water pump, radiator, fan, shroud, driveshaft, shifter, dipsticks, electronic fuel pump, alternator belt, chevrolet mounts, CV joints if I get street slicks, I'm sure there's more Hopefully another $1,000 will get me on the street but I'm sure it will be more like $2,000. I see the $3254 that I spent solely on the engine to be an investment because when I spent it I wasn't sure whether I was going to go ahead with the swap, and I have an '85 silverado that would appreciate it if stuff doesn't work out. Basically, I'm putting $6,000+ in a car that I bought for $300 and put an additional $1000 into. Sound crazy?! Oh well, life is short. You may as well have a smokin fast car! Maybe I can make a little street racing....
  5. Sorry to rain on someone elses thread but is it not possible to just hook an actual switch up to the fuel pump. I'm not far from doing my swap and I'm trying to figure out the best way to wire the fuel pump also.
