Question on Air Supply Tube for 240Z

Recommended Posts

Does the Air Supply Tube (#13 FSM Figure FE-9) simply vent from the Expansion Tank to open air? For SCCA Autocross and other track events, does one have to make any changes (like a catch can)?

That looks to be the fuel vapor return from the engine compartment.

That is actually the vapor line to the diverter valve on the left inner fender of the car.

If pressure builds in the tank, it is vented to the diverter valve and then either to the crankcase, or to the air cleaner.

This is all automatic, and when the car is off, the 'crankcase' is your catch tank---when running, depending on pressure in the fuel tank, it either lets air in from the air cleaner, or diverts it to crankcase accumulation.

It's already a closed system if all your hoses are intact. No worries -- except those hoses without leaks! ;)
