New Zed owner in Tampa FL

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I'm an Aussie just moved to Tampa florida and Picked up a 74 260z soon after I arrived. This is my 4th 'Z' or 'Zed' as we call them, but need some help finding a mechanic around Tampa that knows their Datsuns.

Any help would be appreciated. I was/am a member of AusZcar.com and really enjoyed being a key player in the forums and club in Australia. Alos love to connect with other 'Z'owners, I'm in Wesley Chapel.

Cheers,

Rev.

Try Z Doc's (or is it Doc Z) in Tampa. I'm not sure if they are still open but they used to be the go to place in the area. Personally I would hook up with some of the locals and do your own wrenching. We have quite a few knowledgeable people in the area that would love to have someone else on board.

Where are you located in Tampa? I`ll be heading to Lutz/wesley chapal-Tampa in a few weeks for about 2-3 days. I know of a guy who restores Z only out there, great guy!. I`ll be staying in Chaval section in lutz. Every-time i`m in the area i always stop by his place, maybe i can pick you up and we`ll pay him a visit. Let me know cause i`ll probably be out there on the 26 or 27 of june. KEEP THE Z ALIVE!

i'm certain jimbo, pervayor and z wrench extraordinaire of z-mecca can provide the insight you seek. i've visited z-mecca many times while vacationing in the tampa clearwater area as well as visiting carl beck's place. both gentlemen are die hard z fanatics and possess much knowledge. i frequently call both-especially now that i'm in the re-assembly process of our father-son-daughter 71 z.

Thanks guys,

As it happened i spoke to Jumbo on the phone today and he was very obliging. After being part of such a vibrant Z fraternity in Australia it will be great to connect with guys down in the Tampa area, Hoping to have this ready to roll soon. By the way anyone know of good insurance companies for classics that may be driven a few days a week?

Cheers,

Rev

Yes, JIM is the guy you want to meet and Z MECCA is the PLACE you want to visit. I`m at least 5-10 minutes from him. And yes, my jaw also hit the floor when i went in to see his ongoing projects. He sure as a passion for the Z! Let me know if you want me to take you there?

OK. I just read your post. Good to hear you got in touch with him.

Well had some help from a top guy here who saw immediately some of the problems. Think I'm going to go with some recon SU's and hope that the blueish smoke that is belching may clear up...otherwise it lloks like some valve and rings work to be done. A huge thanks to a 'fair dinkum' bloke who helped out an Aussie in trouble.

Cheers,

Rev.

Thanks man, sorry we couldn't connect. I've just finished a curt and polish and bled the brakes! added some seafoam to the motor and then get some new carbs. I used to run triple Mikuni's on my first z and triple Dellorto's on my last one so I may keep my eye out in the future for what is around.
