Need a throttle cable

Recommended Posts

Well guys i need your help. When i built my car it was a matter of going to the junkyard and pulling stuff that looked like it would work. Obviously that is not the case anymore. The Z31 rb20 throttle cable is way too long!!! I want to put the right one, well the right length one, anybody use one with a single throttle body? Are there any out there i can order to length?

Thanks in advance

Actually, going to the junkyard was going to be my suggestion. A z32 cable is a little shorter and may be about perfect. With the ITB's if you recall the cable had to wrap around and come in perpendicular to the motor. Where your throttle linkage is, you could loop the cable along the firewall and come off along by the fuel rail into the throttle plate sort of an S configuration (see the red line). I don't think you want to come over the top of the motor. Then you'd have to disconnect the cable every time you wanted to change spark plugs. I took the z32 foot pedal also and tig'd the top where the cable attaches to the top of the S30 pedal. Then anchored the plastic stop to the firewall.

Stony, I cut a Lokar cable to length and used an adjustable cable stop I found in a small hardware bin from Ace Hardware marked "lawn mower" parts. The stop fit into the Nissan throttle body swing arm perfectly.

I bought the longer cable size and it was way too long. See my write up in the link below.
