1973 240z no power to coil

check around the dash or glovebox, maybe the engine bay. i wouldnt know, never had interior pieces or dash just put in an aftermarket one when i got mine. if your blowing an ignition fuse i bet you have a exposed wire thats grounding and shorting it out.

The black/white wire going to the coil (+) terminal comes from the tach. The tach is powered from the ignition switch directly when the key is in the start position and through the ballast resistor when the key is in the run position. Power to the ignition switch comes direct from the battery. There is no fuse other than the fuseable link at the starter.

So there is no voltage at the black/white wire when the key is in the run or start position? How about the black/white wire on the ballast resistor. Did you disconnect any of those wires recently?

How is your coil wired Juan?. You should have 12volts to the + side of the coil ( BW ) with the key on. He has Megasquirt and is having trouble with spark and no RPM signal in megatune. Don't remember if you said you have a relay board or not.

Wouldn't this make more sense to post in the Megasquirt forum then?

guys , I finally got spark. I was not getting any power after the start on the ignition, so I re-route my wires. I feel the car now wants to start but it backfires like crazy any ideas?

Timing is off more likely. You should do the timing from the oil pump to the dizzy again, and set TDC and the rotor at #1. That was my issue, my dizzy rotor was off by 1. Back fired like crazy from residual fuel. So timing timing timing.

Sometimes 12V is too much and your spark will "Jump" you will have to use the ballast resistor so that it's like 9V. Correct me if I am wrong, when starting, the car uses all 12v, and in operation it uses 9v or so. I had spark jump from coil wire to chassis, and no spark was distributed to the spark plugs. So those two things, Timing set right, and use the ballast resistor if you're running stock Dizzy .
